And a Fun Day Was Had by All

<So the new blogger was rolled out I see. A minute in and I already see problems. Okay, Vee, calm down, carry on.>

If I get any further behind, I'll never catch up. I want to document, for myself, the wonderful Labor Day we enjoyed at my daughter's home on the river. I have made a little movie and I hope that it will show the shape of the day, but the movie is a little out of focus so I am also adding photos.

That beautiful September day, I drove to my sister's home and from there we went further north to Laurel's. Laurel was mowing when we arrived, but soon gave the job over to my grandson Sam...

because she and her brother had to get the grill going.

There was a bit of color...

There was time spent chatting and eating, but it was a remarkably active crowd.

Time at the River...

And time in the wiffle ball field...

where big boys and little boys played happily together. (Girls, too, of course!)

My sister's grandson spent some happy times in the middle of the field. At one point, when she had a hit and was running bases, he watched surprised as she sped right on by him. "Grammie," he said in an accusing tone. "I can't stop, Emmanuel, I'm playing a game." ツ

And that was not all...Laurel remembered Streamer Tag which captured Emmanuel's imagination completely.

Emmanuel arrived at my knee because I had the nice cold drink he was making short work of. It was a lovely day and I am grateful for it.

Adam meets Anneke for the first time...

Since then, I have been stuck in the garage trying to reclaim some much needed space. Perhaps, if I get more brave, I'll share.

Yup, it's been an adventure posting. Hope it flies.

Thanks for your visit.

    1. My daughter's place. ☺️ My sister lives in a nice place, too, minus a river. It was a great day. Thanks for stopping by, Kathy.

  2. Now that looks like a wonderful day all around. Wonderful that you captured all of the highlights so well. If you can make such a nice video and get it on the blog, I'd say you are doing just fine with the new Blogger. It looks like one would be hard pressed not to be smiling while playing streamer tag. That river looks so refreshing and fun. Is the water real cold?

    1. Yes, the river is quite cool. I just saw that, of all the photos that could be used for the featured one for bloggers' sidebars, blooger chose my signature. What? It used to be the first photo on the post, not the last. Little aggravations, minor annoyances, 😖 I'm sure that it will all settle out someday.

      Thanks for your visit, Kim!

  7. Happy to see your post and your wonderful time at your daughter's beautiful spot. Adventures within a stones throw. I'll have to come back to see the video. I got way behind over the weekend with lots of stuff going on. Must have been something to see grandma run and play a game! Hope you have a good last full week of summer!

  8. Your post turned out very well! I did see anything out of focus or out of place. Like you, I've had my problems with the new format. It doesn't seem to be consistent to me and I haven't been able to figure that out.

Thank you for sharing your family Labor Day with us. That river is wonderful!

  10. What a wonderful Labor Day with family! Perfectly beautiful! Thank you for sharing your day with us. I loved the pictures and the video. Not sure how you did that. Very well done. What part of Maine are they in? That was so pretty, and the river and rocks...was the water cold? Made me really homesick for family gatherings. Lovely!!

    1. My daughter's home away from home is along the Carrabassett River near Sugarloaf Mountain. Yes, the water was pretty cool and the current was strong.

I used the video feature available on my iPad. It included music selections as well. Thank you for stopping by, Pam.

  11. It looked like a wonderful family celebration over the Labor Day Weekend, Vee, at your daughter's new place. The river looked beautiful and the games looked like fun. The video was perfect--loved the music you chose to accompany iyt. Our grandsons are back to playing sp Little league.orts so we have been spending weekend watching them play. First was Lacrosse and now it's Little League. I am getting used to the new blogger. It is frustrating at times but I remember it was always that way in the past whenever they changed formats and then it became second nature with use. I use comment moderation to deflect apam. I think the spammers give up when they see their comments are not published. They try to sneak them into old posts but that fails too. I wish hthere was a way we could block them altogether.

  15. This post warms my heart . . . seeing so many family members, enjoying the day with one another. Happy times!! I watched the video two times through (and a few scenes over again), smiling all the while! (I think Laurel looks so much like you. Do you hear that a lot?)

    1. Actually, I don't hear it too much because she looks so much like her father's sister. I am flattered, though. ☺️ I'm sure there's some of me somewhere. Thank you for visiting and thank you for saying that you enjoyed the video. I think iPad does an artful job with what I plug into it.

  17. Oh what a fun Labor Day, Vee!! The movie wouldn’t play for me on my iPhone, do I’ll go try on my laptop. Laurel’s place is perfect for a gathering of family.

  18. Oh Vee I love this post! You've captured the day beautifully and I love that creative video. This reminds me of the old famous family's videos like the Kennedys - honest! What a great memory captured for years to come. Except I didn't see your sweet face in front of the camera. Your daughter's place is ideal for this. Now I need to find out how you play steamer tag - what fun!

    1. Streamer tag requires cutting a chunk of streamer ribbon long enough to drag on the ground even though tucked into the pant waist. All one has to do if he or she is IT is to step on everyone's tail leaving them out of the game. Small children don't even care about that. They just love having a tail dragging along behind them. Keeps them amused for a long time.
