Adjusting the Sails

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
~C.S. Lewis

We can not control the wind, but we can adjust the sails.

Love that! I'm adjusting my sails this morning.

Create a lovely day...

  1. Good thoughts here on a Wednesday morning! The C. S. Lewis quote is deep and true. It's worth mulling over for a time. I also like the idea of adjusting the sails. Blessings on you as you adjust yours...

  2. Enjoy your day, adjusted sails and all.

I have learned to go with the flow around here. It's not always easy but it is necessary sometimes.

  5. This summer, so far, has been one of adjusting my own sails. Sailing a true course requires constant comparison of heading and course. Beautiful photos. Let the Spirit be the wind in your sails today, dear Vee.

  6. Love this quote...and I for one am forever "adjusting my sails" too Vee. We have to find happiness everyday in the littlest things...I'm trying...I'm really trying...off for a walk, a drive to Belfast and a lunch with hubby to adjust my thinking today. Gotta' get away once in awhile to find that elusive peace from the thoughts whirring around in my mind. Thank you for sharing this today..and have a great day.

  9. One of my favorite authors...CS Lewis...such a brilliant man who could take his deep and brilliant statements and say them so a simple woman like me could understand and apply. Have a great day.

  15. During my brief stint as a sailor in my youthful 20s, I learned that a good sailor changes the sails often, as soon as the wind changes direction. If the sails aren't changed, then you can't go where you intend to go! Thank you for the wisdom of the day...

  19. Hope you'll be enjoying plain sailing back into our view soon Vee - I'm searching the horizon online - sadly I don't have an ocean view from my windows! As long as hurricanes stay far offshore I'm a happy person.

Have a fabulous weekend in the northeast.
    Hugs - Mary

  28. Wonderful quote, Vee. And timely that you should choose to feature this post. I just this morning told the Lord that regardless of my feelings, I am choosing to count this trial as joy.
