God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
~C.S. Lewis
We can not control the wind, but we can adjust the sails.
Love that! I'm adjusting my sails this morning.
Create a lovely day...
Good thoughts here on a Wednesday morning! The C. S. Lewis quote is deep and true. It's worth mulling over for a time. I also like the idea of adjusting the sails. Blessings on you as you adjust yours...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day, adjusted sails and all.
ReplyDeleteI have learned to go with the flow around here. It's not always easy but it is necessary sometimes.

I am adjusting mine big time... Great quote.
ReplyDeleteI love this quote Vee...so very true and the photo accompanying it is stunning! Chet Atkins...now that brings back memories! Great post!
ReplyDeleteLove CL Lewis and that quote is so true! Thanks for sharing....Wish I was sailing thing morning with a cup of coffee in hand! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThis summer, so far, has been one of adjusting my own sails. Sailing a true course requires constant comparison of heading and course. Beautiful photos. Let the Spirit be the wind in your sails today, dear Vee.
ReplyDeleteLove this quote...and I for one am forever "adjusting my sails" too Vee. We have to find happiness everyday in the littlest things...I'm trying...I'm really trying...off for a walk, a drive to Belfast and a lunch with hubby to adjust my thinking today. Gotta' get away once in awhile to find that elusive peace from the thoughts whirring around in my mind. Thank you for sharing this today..and have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the simplicity of a quote can be exactly what we need. Thank you for sharing this one.
ReplyDeleteVee
ReplyDeleteI always appreciate the C.S. Lewis quotes that you share.
I am on my way to adjust my sails as well!
One of my favorite authors...CS Lewis...such a brilliant man who could take his deep and brilliant statements and say them so a simple woman like me could understand and apply. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteVee, I feel like I have been adjusting my sails for several months now..hoping I can catch the wind soon..lovely post..
ReplyDeleteLove,Mona
How beautiful. I need an adjustment and looks like by the comments we are adjusting just as fast as we can! Enjoy your day! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed the video/music so much. Just stopped everything and took in the magical talent of Atkins. Wishing you a nice afternoon. Take care
ReplyDeleteA reminder we all need every now and then:>) Thanks Vee.
ReplyDeleteWhat a legacy CSL has left us with his quotes, and this is a good one, made even better with your exquisite photo.
ReplyDeleteDuring my brief stint as a sailor in my youthful 20s, I learned that a good sailor changes the sails often, as soon as the wind changes direction. If the sails aren't changed, then you can't go where you intend to go! Thank you for the wisdom of the day...
ReplyDeleteWe all need to adjust now and then... for sure...
ReplyDeleteI love that as well. : )
ReplyDeleteLove it! Blessings
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loved this, Vee! Thanks for sharing and have a splendid weekend.
ReplyDeleteHello again Vee. I have been adjusting my sails here on the farm and am planing on sailing back to blogging. Guess I was stuck on dry land but it's lovely to smell the ocean breeze once more.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila! Nice to see you again. I would have written an email, but you are still a no-reply blogger.
DeleteHope you'll be enjoying plain sailing back into our view soon Vee - I'm searching the horizon online - sadly I don't have an ocean view from my windows! As long as hurricanes stay far offshore I'm a happy person.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend in the northeast.
Hugs - Mary
I'm trying to adjust my sails...move two weeks away and the bamboo floors are still not in! We may be moving into the basement that is done:-( I'm still waiting for the calm in my life to return, but I don't see it on the horizon, XOXO
ReplyDeleteLove that, too, adjusting my sails...
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day, Vee.
The title of your post reached out and grabbed me this morning. The calming music and the stunning images accompanied my salty tears. You will never know how the Lord has used you through this simple post to assure me that while I cannot control the wind He will keep me afloat. Thank you dear sweet friend for sharing this today. Many blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder, Vee.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day.
Sue

ReplyDeleteWonderful quote, Vee. And timely that you should choose to feature this post. I just this morning told the Lord that regardless of my feelings, I am choosing to count this trial as joy.
