In the shade of this old tree
In the summer of my dreams
By the tall grass, by the wild rose
Where the trees dance and the wind blows
As the days go oh so slowly
And the sun shines oh so holy
On the good and gracious green
In the summer of my dreams
By the banks of this old stream
In the summer of my dreams
By the deep pool where the fish wait
For the old fool with the wrong bait
There's a field of purple clover
There's a small cloud passing over
And then the rain comes washing clean
On the summer of my dreams

Enjoy yours!
Loved it, thanks for sharing. Have a beautiful day, Vee!! Blessings
ReplyDeleteDelightful! This morning I have a follow up visit with my surgeon. Relax this afternoon. And dinner with my dear Mr Jim to celebrate 33 years together. Beast wishes to you on this fine summer day!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen this and it is so beautiful! hank you for sharing it Vee. I always think the middle of summer is the laziest time. Heat, sunshine, endless days stretching out in front of us in the garden. Like the Sabbath of the seasons :>)
ReplyDeleteDavid Mallet is a Maine treasure and troubador. Glad to be able to introduce him.

DeleteBeautiful start to my summer day...
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful! And you know I'm a summer time girl! The artist of this song has the same name as my sister and even spelled the same way, which is unusual! Enjoy your day my friend! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I'm sure you are familiar with the quote- The two most beautiful words in the English language are "summer afternoon." (Henry James)
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmm.........if I could only sing like that. I thought that was beautiful. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteIf it's summer, I'm in the garden. :-) Coming in to sit for a few minutes before I make dinner, your shared poem was a delight to find. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice poem. Our summer has cooled off a bit, so, it's put us in a better mood. Now, if we can just eradicate all the biting, stinging bugs ... ~:)
ReplyDeleteHi Vee,
ReplyDeleteAww! I love this. I really enjoyed reading your post!
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
This sounds like an "old fashioned" summer--maybe it's the summers of my childhood. Old fashioned for sure then.
ReplyDeleteI listened to it this morning and I thought that I had commented, but just found out I didn't.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely song.

What a nice summery post. It conjures up bare feet, sultry days, the scent of sweet clover in the air, and cold lemonade.
