A Haven for Vee

This or That

I am writing late Thursday evening. That's because my posts have not been updating. This is my experiment of the week and, so far, I have no complaints. Usually, if I get this scheduling right, my post is waiting for me in the morning.

Must be time for a chatty little post. This morning found me fixing our inexpensive Mr. Coffee pot. I killed it and when John came home, he resuscitated it
And you thought I was kidding!

John can be found all over doing things. Why just the other day, I opened the back door to find him practicing his Santa moves.

He needs a chimney I think.

Let's see, what else?

Still playing at PicMonkey...as you can see, I need lots of practice.  (Those are my little girl nieces all grown up now; the one on the left is Kea.) It may look as if I cleaned out the paper punch, but that's really supposed to be bokeh. Ha!

Okay, I am out of time for being silly and I am so good at it, too. I'm off to bed and tomorrow I must dash early. I am quite far behind on Christmas shopping. Hope that everyone has shopped online and won't be in the stores tomorrow. Now how silly is that?!

A happy weekend to you...

  1. Well, it's 10:01 pm here, Vee and your post showed up on my Feedly feed just now. I hope your shopping goes well tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to classes being done next Friday (just one week left) and then I can get moving on Christmas. Tim and I shopped early so at least that's done. Happy weekend to you, too. (Oh, and your ornaments are so pretty - I like that "believe" one.)

  2. Your post was waiting for me on my morning! I often schedule posts and they appear, but if I post and it doesn't pop straight up I go back into it, save it again then press publish again and it usually makes it appear. I hope that the shops are quiet for you - and me! - this weekend, it can get very busy at this time of year cant it. Your Christmas decorations - and photos! - are lovely!! xx

  3. I've been having blogroll post updates too. Have been chatting with someone at Blogger, he's working on it. Maybe our issue is common. If I get more feedback, I'll let you know.

I enjoyed your chatty post ... with accompanying pics. I love picmonkey, so much fun to work in. Your pics are lovely. Hope Christmas shopping is a breeze tomorrow.

    Happy day...

  4. I always enjoy your posts...and what was John doing on the roof? Surely he wasn't looking for Santa (giggling). Thanks for the many smiles...and yes, Blogger is being Blogger. Blessings

  5. Linda saw the Santa/sleigh in my post and told me your hubby was looking for him! lol
We have a coffeemaker that looks like yours and it malfunctioned this week. A couple days later our cat found the missing spring and we fixed the coffeemaker! lol
    Take care today.

  6. My Hubby has been on the roof a few times this Fall/Winter. He is suppose to finish cleaning the gutters today, taking advantage of near record breaking warm temperatures. It keeps my prayer life active! ;)

By the way, regarding my book review... I did get some hate mail and a snarky comment. It was expected.

  7. Enjoy your shopping and may the stores be empty (of people, not what you're looking for in purchases.) Looks to me that you are doing well with your photo editing--your pictures are always pretty and such warm lighting!

  8. Great post and such wonderful pictures! I love it that your hubby resuscitated Mr. Coffee! Your humor is in fine form today. Also the one where he needs a chimney. Get that man off the roof!!! Happy shopping!

  10. Good morning! We could sure use a coffee pot repair guy over here....is John for hire? lol We have gone through 3 Kuerigs, and have got out a S L O W Mr. Coffee now and I don't even drink coffee. Who knows what he does to them, lol. I need to finish up some shopping now too, but not doing much this year so that helps. Good luck out there! Have a wonderous week-end!

  11. That's a good thing to hope for but...
I haven't done much shopping in the wild this year. I do need to gather a few things for daughter who turns 30 on the 27th. Don't tell me John put that Santa way up there! Yikes! We came to the realization that we DO NOT really like keurig coffee so we resurrected our Bunn but couldn't fix the leak so we bought a brand new Bunn. We have happy coffee drinkers again but now there are two coffee makers hoarding the counter. Tree is still lightless and undecorated!!

  12. Good morning, Vee! As write this you are more than likely out in the shops...I truly hope it's going well :) Thankfully we are done, but now I have lots of wrapping to do.

Wishing you a splendid weekend. Hugs!

  13. It is wonderful to have a man around the house!!!
We got our shopping done and a lot on line.

  14. We have a coffeemaker just like that one, only black. Why it hasn't died before now is beyond me. Think we paid $15 for it and we program it every night to start brewing at 4:19 in the morning so it's ready when Mr. T gets up. We usually replace a coffeemaker when the carafe breaks; it's just cheaper to buy a new machine than a new carafe! I used to be so careful about cleaning previous ones with vinegar once a month or so. I think I have cleaned this one once and it's still doing a fine job. It owes us nothing! We have got more than our money's worth out of this one for sure.

And I love your Christmasy photos. Just beautiful. If I ever find myself with any extra time I would love to monkey around with PicMonkey.

  15. Your photos look great, Vee. Nice collage of your pretty home. I like to see a man fixing things, but it always frightens me to see a man on the roof! I know it's my fear, not his! We're going out this afternoon to hopefully finish up our shopping--we'll see. Enjoy your weekend. ♥

  16. Loving my PicMonkey also. Used it today to redden Santa's nose just a little. Painting of Santa face on my fb page. You and John make me happy to read about you.

  17. Our weather has been so mild and wonderful, I am doing it all off line this year!

  18. I never buy expensive coffee makers...those Mr. Coffees can sometimes be like a Timex watch. You are doing great with Picmonkey...isn't it fun? Your photos look great!

  19. I hope you had a successful day of shopping. I have a few things to pick up, mostly some gift cards, then I'll be done.

My Tim is always on roofs, or up ladders, and doing all sorts of things. He and John are kindreds I do believe.

I like PicMonkey - I made my header with it.

  21. John is a Jax of all trades...just like Mr. Sweet..:)
I love playing in PicMonkey and other fun sites..and I seldom ever post a photo of mine without going thru photo scape...if it ever quits, both my arms and legs will fall right off. :)

  22. John is amazing. I guess he hasn't heard that this is a throw-a-way world. It's so nice to see someone who still takes the time to repair. Christmas shopping? You are a brave one. I have to mail almost everything. I've got to think of some way to make it easier and still let them know they're loved. It does look like Christmas at your home. You do the absolute most special things to decorate. Oh, and thank you for introducing me to the photo editing programs. So much fun!

  23. Hi Vee. What a fun post. I had to chuckle with the coffee pot story. My dad could fix any and everything. Mom used to complain she never got any new appliances because if one broke....dad would fix it.
Now my husband is a different story. He's a wonderful Pastor, preacher, researcher....but don't let him near the tool box.....HaHa.

  27. Hope your shopping trip was successful. We were able to check a few things off our list last night and it feels good.

Kudos to John for fixing the coffee pot! A broken coffee pot is a very bad thing. (Did I tell you how we had five coffee pots within a couple of weeks last winter?! We finally got it right. Coffee is important.)

  29. Happy shopping to you, Vee, in rather empty stores (empty of people, of course, not of merchandise!)
    John is a wonder!

  30. It truly looks like your hubby is giving the Mr. Coffee mouth to mouth, I'll have to try that next tine ours goes on the fritz ;) You won't find me in stores, it's online shopping all the way for me this year. I hope you found everything you were looking for and didn't have to wait in line!

  31. Hello My Sweet Friend

I had a wonderful surprise in my mail box this week. Thanks so much for you kindness and friendship! I've been well and lurking here and there - just not commenting much.

Wishing you love, peace and joy. Merry Christmas to you and John!

  32. John did good reviving the coffee pot, seeing him on the roof gives me heart palpitations! Hope you got some shopping done, I haven't even started!
    Enjoy your evening.
    Hugs, from me!

  33. Hi Vee!

I love a handyman!! It seems like we live in such a, throw-a-way world, it's nice to know that some people still find their - stuff - worth fixing!! But I agree with, Sue, I had heart palpitations when I saw him on the roof!

I am hitting shopping hard on Monday - It's the only day I will shop, so I better get it all done!!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  34. Always nice to catch up with you Vee and see what John is keeping busy puttering with. No snow for you either I see although north of us it is being made for the skiers.
Hope you had a good day of shopping!

  35. Does it worry you that John still climbs up on the rooftop? I've gotten to the point where I try and get HM to hire people for that. He won't pay for anything he can do himself or make me do! Well, glory. Next time my coffee pot quits I'll try that CPR thingy John is doing. As usual, your photography is faultless. You should give lessons.
    Merry Christmas again!

  36. He's a keeper! I'm basically not a shopper and do most of it online.

  37. Good morning Vee! I hope you are well and everything is coming together for Christmas! Coffee Pots most definitely have to be rescuitated. They are most important indeed. PicMonkey is fun to play in for sure. So many creative ways to edit your pictures.

  38. These men that like to be on the roof! Honestly, they are asking for trouble aren't they? Was he tethered to anything in case he fell? A friend of ours tethered himself to a chimney on a steep roof but when he fell he found out the rope was longer than the fall!!! Ha ha. I think he broke something but he survived. I hope you have better luck at shopping. I'm not an online shopper at all. Oh, our coffee maker is about 15 years old and if it breaks it will be replaced for a newer style. We seldom drink coffee, only when we have company, so it doesn't get used much at all.

  39. He reminds me of my dad...there was not a thing that couldn't be fixed! How did your Christmas shopping go? My guess is you were not alone in the stores.

  40. Your John and my Louis Dean are both 'handier than a pocket on a shirt!' I haven't met the thing Louis Dean could not fix!! What really made me a believer was when he redeemed our camper that I thought was beyond repair! I can give him something broken and immediately gets out his glue and wire and purest it back together again! What would we do without them??
I see your John likes to play on the roof too!
