Glorious, Fun, Too

So there we sat looking out at the golden light when Laurel suggested a leaf peeping drive. Yippee!

We looked for bittersweet...it's almost ready. Laurel liked this twirly piece of twig so now I have it.

Laurel has a new car and the foliage was perfectly captured in reflection so I had to take a picture.

Oh, what's this? A call to Starbucks? Things are really looking up. Apparently, Laurel has them on speed dial.

It's even pretty waiting at Starbucks drive-through.

Now what?

What's in the bag?

Doughnuts! Specifically, apple cider doughnuts fresh from the vat.

Looking at the Presidential Range in New Hampshire some fifty miles away.

And typical of what the season is like...one tree with leaves nearly gone and the other with green leaves that haven't yet turned. Oh good. More to look forward to!

  2. I was thinking the view out your window was quite lovely, but when Laurel suggested a leaf peeping drive in her new car... happy to tag along with you gals this morning. Oh my, the sights along the way are stunningly beautiful. Picture #6 took my breath away. The colors of the leaves and the blue of the sky. Wow!!
I agree the foliage made a lovely reflection in the car window. Laurel thinks of everything on her tours. Starbucks and a donut stop. I was laughing at your comment about Starbucks being on speed dial. Thanks for taking me along. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

  3. Congrats to Laurel on her new car! I enjoyed your tour very much. Did you ever find your little Cinderella pumpkins you were wanting? Coffee and Starbucks sounds like a great combo. Enjoy your day.

  12. Oh it is so nice to get out for a scenic drive right now. Cider doughnuts? I've never had one but I think I'd like them a lot. Tim Horton's has a yummy pumpkin spice one this season which I've indulged in a few times. It's another gorgeous day here and actually warm again. I hope it's the same for you too. Have a great day!

  14. Lost my comment . . . I think. Maybe you'll get two :)
The scenery is so pretty -- love the blue, blue sky with the beautiful fall colors. I hiked several of those mountains in NH in my youth.
Cider donuts -- yummy! And the Starbucks sounds like my daughter. She's like a Platinum Plus or whatever Starbucks member.
Hope you're doing well, Vee. I think I've missed a few of your posts. xo Deborah

  15. What a perfect day with your daughter, Vee! Your photos are outstanding--I particularly like the one of the church window reflecting the gorgeous tree. You can't beat New England in the fall! We may need to turn the AC back on as today is quite warm. Our trees are a little confused as to what to do. This weekend will bring cooler temps and hopefully pretty foliage. I hope to see more of your color soon. ♥

  16. Yay for Laurel and a drive and another set of eyes to see glorious things. I do like the reflection shots. My sister has Starbucks on speed dial, too, and her drink is ready for her on the way to work each day. Those donuts right out of the vat look delicious! Your colors are very much the same as our colors here on the other corner of the states...

  17. Oh what fun! I love this kind of drive! Rachel and I enjoyed the color we spotted today while going to pick up the wedding flower order in the neighboring county.

I LOVE apple cider donuts! I usually don't eat donuts but I make an exception for this seasonal treat!

  18. The leaves are gorgeous. We are starting to get some very good color around here too, but the weather has been unseasonably pleasant. Doughnuts sound delicious!

  19. Beautiful post, dear Vee...so glad to see you out and about and enjoying this beautiful weather...we don't have the color change that you have...your photos are wonderful....we are still using the swimming pool here...it's crazy.

  20. This is a wonderful 'leaf peeping' tour! You are so blessed to live in that part of the country.

Several years ago we flew into Boston to take a week-long bus tour to see the leaves. It was a great trip.

  21. Thanks for letting me peek with you. How magnificent!

  22. Well that was a lovely outing - beautiful scenery, good eats, and wonderful company.

  23. So much fun! Your leaf display is ahead of ours but in the last two days I've begun to see really lovely color which always reminds me of my honeymoon in October. Those pumpkins look exciting, too. I need to find out what my grands are being for Halloween this year......What a perfect mother daughter day out!

  24. Whoa! What a feast for the eyes. It's all just hot, dried up, brown, crumbling, and falling off down here, so I really am happy that autumn's glory is showing off somewhere and glad you are able to enjoy it. Starbucks... mmmm. Thanks for sharing the beauty with us. Glorious.

    Blessings,
    Christi

So nice to see you again! Have you fired up your blog yet? I was there a day or so ago and did not see any smoke from the chimney. Thank you for your kind comments. Hope to see you soon.

    2. Three posts since last Friday! It's a record (well, at least in the past several years). ;) Maybe you went to Remembering Victoria instead of Charm & Grace Cottage? I have shared a few bits and pieces of what's going on, but will share more in the days to come. I am so enjoying reconnecting with those who are still blogging.

  27. What a lovely post about a lovely time. The foliage is simply amazing this year. Oh, those cider doughnuts! We pass an apple stand on the way to see my dad on Sundays ... if they are open next time we go, I must check to see if they have any of those. They won't be fresh from the vat, but they'll be good.

I drove to the nursing home yesterday (an hour north) for a meeting, and the foliage up that way was still gorgeous. How I wished I was not driving and had unlimited time to take photos, as there was beauty on every hand. The rain of the past 12 hours or so (and today) will probably knock a lot of the leaves off, but we need the rain so badly, who can quibble with what God is sending?

  28. Oh there is something about a beautiful reflection in a new car window! So fun. I just got a new cell phone and am quite amazed at what fun things are at the tip of my fingers.
