Christmas Card Exchange

Amy of Love Made My Home hosts a Christmas Card Exchange; this is the second year I've participated. Denise of House at Forest Manor was my exchange partner. How was Amy to know that Denise and I have been happily chatting in Blogdom for years? I  was very pleased with the arrangement.

My card arrived early because Denise read the directions. Apparently, I did not.  So typical of me... I soon learned that I had not when mailing my Christmas cards out of country last week. My postman told me that it was unlikely that they would arrive in time for Christmas. Sure hope that they arrive in time for 2017!

Thank you, Denise!

Now I am going to tuck in the other cards I have received. You may find yours.

Love family photos! That gooby little mess in the upper left corner of the mirror is me grinning. I chose to leave it there because I really do smile to see family cards.

~and more~

Hope and Peace...a lovely combination!

Thank you for your visit today. I appreciate it in this busy week of preparations. Due to foul weather, I am running behind, but fully expect to get caught up soon. How about you?

P.S. I was very happy to add more Christmas cards to this post. I love being surrounded by these happy reminders of the love and support that I enjoy from family, friends, and fellow bloggers. God has given me wonderful gifts!

  1. Lovely cards - all!! I'm sorry to say I don't send cards like I used to. My arthritic fingers are forcing me to choose just how I will use them these days. Plus my life is an open book on the blog and Facebook so I will use them to send wishes. Still.....I love Christmas cards and may rethink this next year. Last year I sent to out of state and out of country.
No, I am not caught up yet! It is nearly 3:00 in the morning and here I am visiting while the last batches of my Texas Trash are baking! Do you like salty snacks??

  2. I love the tradition of sending cards and little notes to friends and loved ones so I enjoyed taking part in the swap. A lovely card Vee to nestle into some lovely Christmas décor. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

  4. I adore Lang cards and it seems Denise and I are sisters from the past. Beautiful. Mother wrote to all their friends at Christmas and sent the most beautiful cards. I no longer do and I so wish it was still the tradition.

  5. What a nice idea to host a Christmas card exchange. That is one tradition that I hope never goes by the wayside. Denise selected a lovely card for you. I enjoyed seeing the creative ways you have displayed your cards. I especially like the way you have put them in the corner on the tree branch and Santa on the wreath is charming. I hope your weather improves and you are able to get back on track. I think we're doing good here. Although that could change at any minute :).

  6. What a beautiful card from Denise! It's fun to get cards in the mail any time of year. Enjoy your day sweet friend. Hugs, Diane

  7. I'm afraid, you might just barely get mine before Christmas, wink. If not, it will be New Years...sigh...

    Thanks for the smiles Vee.

  8. I am behind. I am always behind (and not just for Christmas). Except for that one year when we were mysteriously ready a week before Christmas and we invited friends for tea and Christmas goodies on two different mornings. We enjoyed that so much...but have never again been able to replicate it.

Christmas cards are such a joy to give and receive...it's like a little touch point with a loved one far or near. It can be a lot of effort during a busy season, but it's a tradition that I will do as long as I can.

  9. Love this post and the way you have displayed your cards. I haven't sent cards out for years and am always pleasantly surprised - and feel slightly guilty - when I receive one. Maybe one of these years I should pick up this lovely tradition again!? Not quite ready over here - still some baking and shopping to be done this week.

  10. Love seeing your cards displayed around your cozy home. I have always enjoyed sending cards and receiving them for some reason but it seems as if many have given that up since social media. But as long as I am able it will be a tradition I keep. I am VERY VERY close to being completely ready so that is good. Enjoy your week Vee!

  11. I like how you display your cards. Lovely card from Denise. I do still send cards out with a Christmas letter and a photo....overkill? I like to read news from people I only hear from once a year. I'm just a curious type of person. I tell people that I have "the need to know". That's probably why I enjoy blogging. Have a great week Vee!

  13. I enjoy taking part in the Christmas card exchange. Now I just need to wait for a little light to snap a photo of my card and put up a post. We had the grands here yesterday and there was no time.

  14. A lovely card from Denise, a blogging sister whom I enjoy visiting too. I take part in a year round card exchange with fellow Canadian bloggers and joined a US Christmas one for those who make their own cards. I'm so glad many are keeping this tradition alive for it's sheer joy to find an envelope with greetings inside. Hmm, I like the way you display yours, I need to do something different because ours sit in a Christmas basket.
Everything is ready for Christmas here!

  15. Hi Vee,

I think I like that card even better when I see it in your home. :-D I LOVE the creative ways you've displayed your cards all throughout the house. That Santa card is so cute on your wreath!

I, too, love to send and receive cards at Christmas. I'm sad to see that fewer and fewer people are sending them these days. (I hope) I will do so as long as I'm able.

I'm still working on things here, so I'd better dash! Warm Christmas hugs to you, Vee.

  16. I looked for mine in the pictures and then realized I haven't mailed it yet. haha! If you don't get it before Christmas, I trust you'll remember "it's the thought that counts". Merry Christmas my friend. Such a lovely array of cards you have there. ~ love Abby

  18. These days are so busy! Today we will be having the last Advent singing at Emily's house...Yesterday they had to be at a Christmas event at their German School...I would love to send you a card, Vee, if you have time to email me your address!

  19. I did fewer cards this year than I have in the past...but there is something wonderful about getting a card from an old friend, isn't there? Sorry your card will be late- but I bet she will love it anyway! xo Diana

  20. I send only a few Christmas cards to those we don't see at Christmas. Your cards looks so pretty displayed in different spots. What a lovely idea to exchange cards with blogging friends.
Can you believe we just came in from raking up more leaves? I can hardly believe the amount we still had to rake. Along with the recent weather and windy conditions we are just wrapping up that job before Christmas.
    Merry Christmas! ♥

  21. Beautiful cards and I love the way you have displayed them. I may have to borrow that wreath idea. I usually just tape the cards we receive to the wood shingles in our entryway, and sometimes I will have a few on the hutch. Then I have a ribbon board for the vintage cards.

I do love sending and receiving cards. (But I am sure you knew that!) I received your lovely card and will get yours out, hopefully tomorrow.

  23. I joined a card exchange with my tea group on FB. Its fun to receive cards and tea in the mail! I had stopped mailing out cards - I would send a family photo and letter through email, but I love getting real mail and I thought others would too, so I've gone back to mailing real cards!

I like seeing your smiling face in the bevel of the mirror!

I am done with all my shopping, and all the packages have been sent. Even Tim is done with his shopping for me! (that the only shopping he has to do!) We are ready to just enjoy this week before Christmas!

  24. Love that little snippet of you in the corner of the mirror, Vee :)

  25. Lovely cards! I wouldn't worry too much - sure your cards will make it. I sent a package to my Mum in England only a couple of weeks ago and it arrived within six days. I'm in the states. I think those dates are 'guides' but post seems to move pretty quickly

  26. I spotted mine in the corner. : )
Nice how you have all your cards in different places around the house. I like that idea and I'm going to do that too.

  27. What a lovely card and message. I was guilty of not reading the instructions properly too but luckily my card has reached its destination. Perhaps your card be a great post Christmas surprise.

  28. Hello Vee. It's a lovely card and a thoughtful message from Denise. It's uplifting to send and receive cards at this time of the year and I'm pleased to have taken part in Amy's card swap. It's also enjoyable to see what cards have been exchanged. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas.

  29. You have done well with all your cards! I have loved being part of the exchange this year too!

    1. Thank you for your visit! I have tried to leave a comment at your blog, but Google + is being a pain and is not allowing it. Your cards are beautiful...love the birdies alluding to your move. Sounds like an adventure and all best wishes with it.

  30. What a lovely card from Denise. I love receiving cards, but the numbers dwindle each year. We used to get 4 or 5 a day in past years, now it seems to be 1, maybe 2 at a time, some days none. I too love how you've displayed them around your house, mine are in a Christmas basket. I should be more creative!

  31. I love exchanging cards! It is so fun to give and to receive :) Your wreath idea is an excellent way to display the cards - enjoyed how you took pictures of the cards in their various settings in your home. May you have a blessed and very Merry Christmas!

  32. This is a neat tradition - I would love to get in on that next year - hope I see it and/or remember. I love exhanges - one meets such wonderful peeps that way.

I love all your wonderful cards - but nothing - absolutely nothing- beats that cute smile captured in "that goobly mess!"

    Merry Christmas, sweet friend. xxoo

  34. I don't know why, sometimes I don't see a post on my Bloglovin feed until a few days after it posts...like this one! I always say if it's postmarked before Christmas it counts. Besides, getting a card any time is a treat! Merry Christmas Vee :)

  35. Lovely to see your card from Denise. We posted early this year and we have received a couple of cards every day since the beginning of December. Merry Christmas.

  36. I love that you sprinkle your cards throughout your home... I would imagine that lends itself to spontaneous reminders of how you are loved! Beautiful. Your home always seems so beautiful, while also warm and welcoming. I bought a black wrought iron decoration for our den wall years ago. One year at Christmas, I began to tuck the cards into the curls and nooks of it and liked it so much the tradition stuck. Always a little sad to take them out, as the wrought iron looks "naked" ...lol.

  37. Beautiful cards Vee. I can remember way back before Facebook, emails and texting that cards was the thing. I loved mailing them and receiving them. Every year it seemed that my list got larger and larger with sending out cards though and then postage began to go up in price. The next thing I noticed people weren't sending out as many cards as they used too and that included me. But I do love Christmas cards. Matter of fact, I love CARDS period! Especially one that someone takes the time to write a personal note in. Happy New Year Sweet Vee. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
