Time for the Hodge Podge

1. The Hodgepodge lands on June 14th this week, Flag Day in the US of A. Do you fly your country's flag at home? 

Yes. I do need a new one. John took care of that for me and even saved the box with all the pertinent information written on it so that I would know what he purchased.  

Sometimes, often, or every single day? 

Every single day

Have you ever visited the city of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia)? 

Yes

Did you make a point of seeing The Betsy Ross House? 

No, but I wish that I had. 

Have you ever made a trip to Baltimore? 

Yes

If so, was Fort McHenry on your itinerary? (where Francis Scott Key was inspired to write The Star Spangled Banner)

No, I was passing through downtown Baltimore on a Trailways bus that my dad was driving. As I recall, it was a miserably hot and humid day and everyone had the smell of humanity on them. I'm sure that Fort McHenry would have been more edifying. 

2. Red flag or white flag? Which have you encountered most recently? Explain.

IF we are talking about a race, it would be a red flag. Somehow I have managed to put my back into a knot so am working to get it righted around so I can get back into the race. 

3. Are you a stay in the car listen to the end of a song kind of person? 

Depends on the song and the singer; I'd say usually not. 

What kind of person is that?

Someone who has extra time on her hands? 

4. What are some of the traits or qualities you think a good dad possesses? 

Godly, gentle, gentlemanly, loving, yet firm covers it I think...

In other words, what makes a good dad?

Edited to add: Okay, I see where I went wrong. I thought I had to choose an adjective to describe my father. Why? Who knows? I'll blame my back pain meds. 

Trying again... My father had sooooo many expressions, but two come readily to mind: 1. Do you want to play ricochet romance off that wall? A kid better pay attention when that was asked. My niece, a wit at an early age, began responding with, "Yes, Grandpa, please." This would make him laugh every time and served to diffuse defuse the 
situation. 2. You are softer than a wet sneaker filled with baby poo. (See, Joyce? I do know how to edit.) This was reserved for those times when my sister or I had done something especially dumb. 

5. What's one rule you always disagreed with while growing up? 

Girls do the dishes without being asked and immediately after meals are finished.

Is that rule somehow still part of your adult life? 

Yes, though if there are boys in the family, they can help, too!

Is that a good or bad thing?

Good

Lobster, corn on the cob, iced tea, and blueberry pie enjoyed with aunts and an uncle are very good things; wish that I had remembered my camera! ♥ Many thanks to my Maryland aunt and my Fryeburg aunt and uncle for a very pleasant evening.

The last time I had lobster was nearly two years ago on Abby's front lawn.
