Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire; it is the time for home.
~Edith Sitwell
Knowing that I am in need of comforts this week, I thought perhaps you might enjoy some, too. Comforts too often equals food for me. Wish that, like so many of you, I could get away with a bit of tea, a book, and a blankie. At least, thus far, I'm getting away with virtual food.☺
Hi Vee,
ReplyDeleteFood always means sharing and comfort to me, too. I love your foodie photos and I've shared some, too. Thank you for hosting your wonderful party. xo
Hi Vee, Your box lid mosaic is absolutely stunning! Love your creativity! The cookies, bread, and cake look great. So does the salad. Very nice images for your recipe notecards, Vee. Thank you for sponsoring this meme; it's one of my favorites. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Vee, comfort and tea plus food go hand in hand. This is a lovely post, full of cozy goodness. And you even threw in something healthy at the end!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for hosting this gathering - it's a favorite.
Me, again. I love the Sitwell quote. It's also a favorite and likely to show up on my blog sometime, too.
ReplyDeleteYou are speaking my love language...food! For me, too, my comfort is wrapped around food and a table. Blessings...
ReplyDeleteIt seems the older we get, the more important comfort food is for us. I've found the best way to get a fix is to look at foodie photos in blogdom and your featured baked goods and salad fixings today are a nice mix for any cravings.
ReplyDeleteYour box top is cleverly done, I can't seem to find a variation for mine other than the 4 squares.
Thanks for hosting Vee.
Now you have made me hungry! I really like how you did your box top label. I thought about doing something like that, but I didn't get very far with the execution phase, since I was plenty tuckered out after an photo editing session. My post and link-up will done about 3 p.m. Thank you, once again, for having these note card parties! They sure are a big hit!
ReplyDeleteThe food note cards have made me hungry for some banana bread and lemon crisp cookies! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, your box top is so pretty and creative! And yes....food (and coffee and tea) are pure comfort! Perfect! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteWonderful YUMMY ! post . Lovely note cards look good enough to eat lol Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteHi Vee,
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! The cold winter months call for comfort, as in good food, sometimes reminding us of our childhood, and plenty of rest and relaxation! Your pretty note cards for January are a deliciously tempting collection! Thanks so much for hosting this wonderful party!
Poppy
Oops! Just noticed that my blog name had stored a previous url for the party! Sorry! Not sure how to delete this. Tried the removal widget, but can't seem to get it to remove my former entry (#7).
DeleteDoes anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Poppy
I'm finally organized enough to be participating this month. I've always enjoyed seeing all the postcards that other share. Nothing like nice comfort food during the winter months.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm craving some comfort foods on this cold windy winter day. I wish I liked to cook and bake more. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteComfort food is good any time of the year, but particularly nice this month. Sock it to me cake sounds interesting...I'll be back later to check out your recipe! I've always loved the quote and that's a great looking boxtop!
ReplyDeleteI love the topic you chose this month, Vee, and winter often requires a double dose. xo
ReplyDeleteDelightful comfort cards. Of course you would need to include the recipes somewhere. I really like your box cover. When I added frost to my cards this time I thought of it as a Vee thing. Thanks for hosting. Wondering why when I clicked on Lorrie your blog came up. :-)
ReplyDeletei'm bringing food to the table, too. now i'm hungry! thanks for hosting and the comfort.
ReplyDeleteOoh and such yummy comfort food too! I love the sock it to me cake- it is delicious. Your note cards have made me hungry!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee,
ReplyDeleteComfort food is one of my favorite parts of winter -- that, and a fire in the fireplace and a good book to read. :) These are great note cards for January; I love them all, but for some reason, the first and last cards are my favorite. Also, I like your kitchen wallpaper; it's very similar to what my parents had in their kitchen for years.
I trust you are warm and dry in your cozy home. Thank you for hosting the party and have a wonderful week!!
Warm Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
January and Comfort Food are ideal!! Sometimes a blankie, tea, and a book just don't cut it without something good to nibble on!
ReplyDeleteI do like banana bread.
ReplyDeleteMerle......
Hey Vee....just now getting home from work and linking up! The photos of your comfort food looks absolutely YUMMY! I also love the cute little hob-nail lamp sitting on your counter... have one almost exactly like it :) I'll be back as soon as I get dinner to come check everyone's cards out! Thanks so much for hosting the enjoyable party in blogland :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, had a real problem with the link and now I'm up twice! First one doesn't work Vee - any way you can delete it please?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of blogger problems, surely I'm not the only one having them the past few days. Everything is so slow, especially loading photos.
Anyway, must say I love the big turnout here for the party - great bunch of talented party going gals. Your baked goods look delish - I think I'm ready for a slice of that fresh banana bread with my cuppa this afternoon!
Happy evening Vee - hugs, Mary
All set!
DeleteHow very beautiful your photos are, Vee. I always enjoy your note card parties.
ReplyDeleteSorry I couldn't do a post for the party this month. Hubby had cataract surgery last Tuesday & today. Yesterday he had an injection in his lower lumbar for a bulging disc. I've been under the weather, trying to adjust to new medicine.
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Carol
What great photographs and will make stunning cards! I'll be back to join in on your party! I'm happy to have found your blog, I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteNancy
I enjoyed seeing your choice of notecards this month Vee. The food all looks delicious and well presented and the photos make a great notecard set for the foodies in our lives. Have a nice evening. Pam
ReplyDeleteYour photos have made me hungry and I'm thinking what I should have for my snack tonight. : )
ReplyDeleteYum! I wanted to lick the screen when I opened your post! I love all the notecards that everyone enters. xoDiana
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfectly lovely quote.
ReplyDeleteI think you have selected a perfect theme for your January note cards. I've been in the mood to bake. I'm trying to resist the urge as I feel like it wasn't that long ago that I was eating all of those Christmas cookies. Perhaps I better stick to the food featured in your last photo.
I had to laugh as I was checking out the links to your recipes I was surprised to end up back on my own blog. You know I do have a bag of lemons that need to be used up. Perhaps a bit of cookie baking is in order after all.
Great party, as always.
A very inspirational box top cover mosaic Vee. I love those big glass jars for storing goodies!
ReplyDeleteThank you for carrying on with your monthly Note Card party - I love it. It's fun sorting through my photos and trying to come up with some semblance of continuity in the set.
The peep of your kitchen window area is fun too!
Comfort is just right for this time of year!
ReplyDeleteI also like the quote - perfect!
Deanna
OMG!! This snuck up on me, I have been so busy.
ReplyDeleteI love you cards, they look yummy. I'll try t,o come up with something worthy to post.
Maybe if I still had my blankie, I wouldn't do so much comfort fooding! Alas, I confess to food comfort as well, especially in the dreary days of winter. Yours all look wonderful. I'm choosing the cookies as my favorite because I'm basically a cookie hound.
ReplyDeleteFinally linking up, and it feels soooo good! I love this party. It's like Inpspiration Station to my creative juices.
that's Inspiration. Don't know what that word I typed it.
ReplyDeleteHi Vee! Blessings, milady - with hopes January finds you cozy and comforted in great measure, it would seem from your cards, by baked goodies in the kitchen! All looking yummy, to be sure. Thanks for posting, Joy!
ReplyDeleteKathy
YOur note cards come complete with the delicious aromas that permeate the room... Lovely!
ReplyDeleteOooo...loving your note card selections today! My mother used to make a Sock-It-To-Me cake...almost every weekend there for a while! I can taste it now...
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting the party again this month!
Ok, now I am hungry! What a great idea for note cards Vee!
ReplyDeleteI love this post, I'm in need of some comfort myself ;) I love the lamp by your sink in the last photo.
ReplyDeleteWow...those would be great snacks to make to take to the gym!
ReplyDelete(Joke from The Dinette Set comic.)
I didn't even know what week it was and so missed it...someday I will get back on schedule. I enjoyed your note cards, I haven't baked and this was very comforting to me! I can almost smell the baking.
ReplyDeleteComfort and food go hand in hand over here as well! You chose perfect note cards for January!
ReplyDeleteYour cake and cookie photos have me feeling hungry, Vee! I came back today from a quick four day trip to NYC. It was nice to visit with old friends who I've missed. I'm happy, but exhausted.
