It's been busy around here since December 23 when the grands arrived for their vacation days. They would arrive in the morning at 7:30 and leave at 5 pm. Their mom had the Tuesday before Christmas off so that worked out well. Then I had them for the Thursday and Friday following Christmas. On Monday, their maternal grandmother took the eldest to have one on one time and wound up keeping him for Tuesday as well since a doctor's visit was needed — ear and sinus infection. Ugh. Winter has arrived.
The youngest has complained off and on of an ear that doesn't feel quite right either. So I am eager to see how today and tomorrow will go. They are supposed to return to school, but there's a bad storm barreling down upon us and with the sickness and all...I just don't know; it could go either way. If you don't see me around, you'll figure it out. By 7:30, even I'll have it figured out.☺
Would you believe that Jake had homework over vacation? Yup. This was my trick to get him to read to me. "Wear my cheaters," I suggested, "you'll be able to see better."
He couldn't, but he sure can read!
A fun day to you...
Jake looks so cute in g'ma's readers and I think the snowmen turned out pretty well myself!
ReplyDeleteYou have your hands full Vee. I love my g'children, but I'm just plain worn out after a few days
of entertaining them. You lady, are a real trooper!
Good morning Vee. It was -30 C. here this morning!!! Just too cold to go out and enjoy anything, even shopping. Jake is adorable and I bet he loves to read to you. Any cupcake tastes good even if it doesn't quite look like the recipe says. Stay safe in the storm. (glad it's passing us by) Blessings.
ReplyDeleteI think your snowman cupcakes turned out pretty good, and Jake's a good guy to help grandma with them. Much sickness going around and it's hard when the little ones aren't feeling well.
ReplyDeleteWe're in for some bad weather and it is extremely cold today. I'll be at the stove making some soup.
Take care Vee.
Judith
Hope all is well with the ear situation, and that you enjoy your special time with him! He is a cutie, for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt must be nice to have your family so close. I'm always bemoaning the fact that both our daughters are out of state (one out of the US) at least the one with the baby is 3 hours away. I always think that kids with sweet grandparents are very blessed indeed. I was the last of 5 kids born after my parents were 40 and the grandparents were gone. My parents were already grandparents and I'm the same age as my neices and nephews! Now I'm trying to be the grandma I never had but it's hard with distance. Your kids are very blessed to have y'all to help them raise their children and it will make a big difference because you love them so much. Making cupcakes and reading together. That sounds like fun. I'll have to watch for good books.
ReplyDeleteYour weather does not sound like fun! We got a little snow. It's very pretty. Enjoy your day and your treasures.
Cagey Grandma! Cupcakes and cheaters make for a fun day knoshing and reading! As a retired teacher, it does my heart good to read of family reading time being accomplished! Hurray for the books and together reading time! Hope your snowstorm is as lovely as ours is ... right now, it's a fairyland out there! Stay warm and toasty!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that the boys have not been feeling well...that is certainly one of the down sides of winter. It's hard to snuggle in and enjoy the coziness if sickness is a part of it. But it's good to hear that you're having good times and making sweet memories together! They. are. adorable.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and safe today, all of you!
Good morning! Well hope it all turned out OK over there. Your grands are soo cute. I think I mentioned that I took care of 3 of mine for almost a year, but one of them was a baby. The other two were KG and 4th grade.....oh my is all I can say. LOVE them to pieces of course, but this grandma sure had her hands and her rickety knees full, lol. You have my admiration for this tough job. Maybe if I hadn't had the baby I would have lasted but he was SUCH a hand full. Anyway, I KNOW first hand how hard the job is, but also how rewarding. Those 3 kids formed such attachments to me our relationship is still sooo strong, it can't be beat. ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think about the fact you would have your boys over the holidays when they were out of school. I hope they get well soon -- and I hear another big snow is headed your way. Only rain here, but a "cold rain." Stay well!
ReplyDeleteI hope both the boys are really well, right now, or very soon! We are getting into real winter weather lately and our local police have advised people to stay off the roads if they can....Your grandsons are very cute and I think Jake was very happy to help you make (and eat) cupcakes! And you must have lots of energy to have your grands over so much! I do sometimes, but not for such a long time. And it is wonderful, but exhausting.
ReplyDeleteThe cupcakes look delicious! I know you enjoyed the time with your grands. I hope they are all well now!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those grands while you have them. I hope they are feeling better now. Jake is so cute in your cheaters. Stay safe and warm during the storm. We have bright sunshine here today but it's -20 degrees.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Vee! Has the storm hit? It's been snowing here all morning w/ a promise of 2-4 inches. This will be our biggest snowfall so far this winter. I am hunkering down and cooking today, I think. Chicken rice casserole for tonight, some potato soup for tomorrow, and perhaps some baking in between! Stay cozy. Hope the grands are all back to good health!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee, how scary a storm. I certainly hope the family is feeling better. Jake is so cute. How fun the cupcakes are. Stay warm and safe. Thanks so much for stopping by Vee. Here's to a safe, healthy and happy New Year. xo
ReplyDeleteThe cupcakes look so good....but homework? Bah humbug! Hope you're warm and snug today. You may need to bake something every day! Love your new banner! Hugs
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Vee. I hope the storm will pass quickly without much damage. Such weather this winter already in your corner - here is grey monotony day after day.
ReplyDeleteIt's been an "under the weather" season for much of our family this year. Engineering firms seem to shut down over Christmas so our son and one son-in-law had more than a week off, which they spent either being sick or nursing their sick wives/babies. I hope your grandsons both feel much better very soon.
Fun cupcakes - it's all about the eating and the experience. What a great grandma you are!
I hope your snow storm isn't too fierce. We got around 2 inches through the night and the temps are right down frigid in single digits as I write this.
ReplyDeleteJake is a cutie and those cupcakes look good. We have about wiped out all the sweets at our house. Now I'm contemplating making something sugar free. :)
Awww Jake sure is a cutie pie and his cupcakes turned out sooo cute. He looks like he's enjoying them very much. Happy 2014, Vee! xo
ReplyDeleteSuch a cutie. Looks like there are fun days at Grammies this holiday!!! Enjoy and savour every minute. Hope everyone is on the mend. It's been a stormy, extra cold, time over here too. I seem to be having a rough start to 2014 - ugh but it could always be worse!
ReplyDeleteOK, now I'm want cupcakes! And since the newest "storm of the century" is headed our way, cupcakes will be perfect while keeping warm by the fire. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY to you and yours for 2014. Aloha
ReplyDeleteHi Vee!
ReplyDeleteI love making memories with my grands - I can tell you do too! The cupcakes looked delish, of course anything is good with chocolate on top! Tell Jake that the "cheaters" make him look ever so smart! What a cute guy!
Hugs,
Barb
I am laughing here- My grandgirl said yesterday -if it gets ten degrees MORE BELOW zero we won't have school tomorrow...AND I will have time to read the 283 PAGES!!! of the book I was supposed to finish over Christmas vacation. Ummm...she MIGHT be the procrastinator in the family. Hoping your kiddos headed off to school today- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThose cupcakes look yummy! How fun that you are with the grands for a while. Hope your snow storm is not too bad.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon! The storm is barreling down on us here in upstate/western NY. (that is an understatement)--cupcakes look good, what a lovely pic of your grandson. Thanks for the smiles. P.S. He might have to get use to the homework, my son, although in college, had homework, they start off early with the homework. Blessings
ReplyDeleteIt's snowing up a storm up here in Michigan too, time to batten he hatches and be glad to not have anywhere I have to be. Those cupcakes look delicious :>)
ReplyDeleteLooks like great fun! this is Priceless!!!! I am sitting here just smiling away, finally got around to visit, I am watching and listening to my baby sleep and snore as I write. Priceless for me!!
ReplyDeleteOh! how I have missed you!! Not your fault, mine! Thought of all my friends up north when we heard the weather report last night, I am going to try and not complain about the 20's here tonight, especially since we were able to be outside last evening by a bon fire! Stay close by the fire, Dear One
A blessed and Happy New Year!
I hope and pray the boys get to feeling better!
My grandies in France are full of fluey type bugs too - poor little sausages!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that Jake is a reader - that's half the battle I think.
Glad you made cup cakes together - he will always remember that - they looked yummy too, I imagine they were gone in a flash!
Jake sure looks like he's enjoying that cupcake!! : )
ReplyDeleteI used to bake with my grandkids when they were little too. It was always fun.
I sure do miss those kids!!
You've begun the new year with gusto! I love the collage and all the news you've shared since the first. I sure hope that Sam is feeling better and that Jake doesn't get sick.
ReplyDeleteHello Vee the middle of our country hit 50c yesterday not so hot here, thats well over the 100 in the old scale.
ReplyDeleteBoy that's hot.
Merle.............
Jake is so darling - but don't tell him that! He'd probably be offended "boys aren't darling!" hee!
ReplyDeleteI hope they stay well. Enjoy your snow! Ours has started!
Deanna
Jake is so cute. Oh boy another storm barreling down on you? Hope all goes well and I do hope Jake's ears stay well...
ReplyDeleteYes, I am hunkered down here waiting for the full force of the storm to knock us around. Jake is a cutie. Love Kitty's cupcakes. Stay safe and warm, Vee. xo
ReplyDeleteThose cupcakes look yummy.
ReplyDeleteWe have that snow coming down here in our neck of New England at a good pace right now and windy.
Stay warm and safe.
Knowing what it's like to devote one entire day a week to our grandsons I am in awe of what you are doing, we ramped up our immune systems with these little boys!
ReplyDeleteOur day with tour boys is every Monday and the high is forecast to be -10. The high! Mawkish us luck :)
I went thru everything you are experiencing right now with grands....with 10, there wasn't a dull week...EVER.
ReplyDeleteA few times during those years, I kept 6 at one time....fun....tired...learning...sleeping VERY good at night when they all were back in their own beds in their own homes....:)) Would not trade one single minute for any of it...:)
Have a wonderful year.
Babysitting is fun but tiring --I give teachers credit for being able to keep young ones attention all day! Your grandson looks good in glasses, but I hope he won't need them for real.
ReplyDeleteI hope you did not get too much snow form the storm, Vee. Our crazy Colorado weather will have us at 60
degrees tomorrow but it will drop down to the 20's for the weekend. I'm learning wear layers of clothes for all occasions...lol!
They are looking quite well here eating cup cakes! We are having more storms too. Homework over Christmas! Four year old Rebekah had a pile too. Too young I say. Not so bad for our seven year old Oliver.
ReplyDeleteThose cupcakes look so cute! I bet they tasted good! :) Hope you're staying safe and warm. xo
