East Texas Scene
The quality of my photography is slipping, which is upsetting because this is such a sweet gift I received from Vickie of Sand Flat Farm. She describes this scene as an East Texas one that she loves driving by just to enjoy viewing that dear barn. Vickie is a very talented artist, I can vouch for that!
One thing that Vickie didn't know, but my family knows so well is that my mother had two wishes for 2011. First she wanted to visit my sister in New York. Secondly, she wanted to visit *her dear friend* in Texas. Perhaps that is another reason why this touches my heart so.
A Brighter Corner
My home is brightened not only by the painting, but also by the love behind it. Thank you, Vickie! I will treasure this gift always.
There's even more to show from Vickie tomorrow when the light will be better. It's a perpetual twilight here the past few days as one storm moves out and another moves in. Stay cozy!
Vee,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blessing! I have seen some of her paintings on her blog and she is a genius with a point brush. We are only getting a little glitter of snow here today but man is it cold, so yes, cozy is the plan of the day.
Oh my, Vee, I am humbled. You're so sweet to post this. I cared not if you showed it or not. Now I'll have to go back and visit your mom's friend from Texas. Awww, that's a neat connection you made there! Have a warm and cozy day, my friend... ;)
ReplyDeleteOk, now I'm back after re-reading that lovely post you wrote about your mom's friend! It made me tear up again!!! Such a sweet post!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful...the colors are perfect for your home! I lived in East Texas for MANY years! I'll go check out her blog! Hugs to you, my friend! Stay warm...stay inside! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteNow that is true friendship. I can see how lovely the painting is but truly what gives me the most joy is your apparent gratefulness for it. You are so deserving.
ReplyDeleteA lovely gift! From a lovely artist!
ReplyDeleteAnd a heart-warming story to go with it.
Hugs and ♥'s...
'Cause Valentine Day is coming!

Vee, do you have a setting, in your computer's photo program, where you can "Lighten" photos? My iPhoto program [on my iMac] has such a setting, and I love to play with it.
ReplyDeleteIt also has Increase In Contrast, and Highlights and something else, which make a difference in how my photos look. Takes a lot of playing with them, for each picture, but I like doing it.
I always wonder this, when bloggers say they are sorry for their dark photos, due to weather, etc. Have they ever looked for a Lightening Setting? So, I ask you. :-)

What a beautiful painting you have been given, Vee, and what a talented artist Vickie is! Looking forward to seeing what else you have to show us. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious gift and since all my relatives are from East Texas I can say it reflects that area so well. The picture pulls me back to my own roots and my husbands roots.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy...what a true blessings...and what a wonderful way to see the talents of the Body of Christ when they are shared with others...Vicki, you did an awesome job.
How sweet of Vickie. That is a lovely painting. I love landscapes and barns....
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
Hi Vee!
ReplyDeleteThe landscape is lovely! What a refreshing scene in comparison to the cold winter we're having.
Thanks for mentioning Downtown Abbey... I didn't know about it... okay now you know, sometimes I live in a cave!! I'm sure going to check it out.
Thanks for your prayers Vee! Marie left the nicest thank you to all of you on my blog post.
Big warm winter hugs, sherry
What a lovely gift. Vickie did a beautiful job on it and your story of your Mom's friend makes it even more special. I am once again reminded of the kindness and caring that is always prevalent in the land of blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat talent! That definitely looks like E. Texas! What a honor to win such a beautiful painting!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee!
ReplyDeleteThat wonderful Vickie, isn't she a jewel?! Not only is she a talented artist, she is such a sweet and thoughtful friend.
What a beautiful story about your mom and her friend! I did have to dab at my eyes a few times to get through it, very touching. I don't think there is anything better than an old friendship that survives the years. Do you think that in today's world we have friendships like that? I have often wondered and pondered on "old friendships", as I have lost contact with so many of mine. My mother is still very good friends with people she knew as a child - Life moves so quickly these days. . .
What a lovely post, thank you for sharing!
Warm hugs,
Barb
What a beautiful painting! That is such a nice gesture on Vickie's part....she's such a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteStay warm and before you know it, we'll be seeing those green trees and pastures soon enough!
Be blessed!
Liane
Beautiful Vee, lovely posts! Stay warm today my friend!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gift...is right! Beautiful painting by Vickie...and so sweet of her to share it with you. Most meaningful...especially after reading the story of your mom and her friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift to receive from your friend. The painting is beautiful and the story of your mom will make it even more special.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting. When I first saw it I thought it was one of my mother's paintings. She loved to paint landscapes. Vicki is so talented. I know you will treasure it.
ReplyDeleteLove the painting. What a great talent.
ReplyDeleteThis warms my heart so much. To see how the blog world has made friendships all over the world.
ReplyDeleteBoth of you ladies are dear to my heart and I am so touched to see you minister to each other in this way.
Ahhh...it is so good.
I just watched the first episode of Downton Abby! I LOVE it! Thank you Vee!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sherry
PS I'm home with a case of bronchitis and will watch an episode a day... something special to look forward to!
What a wonderful painting and gift from Vickie. A true gift of the heart and one to treasure!
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful, Vee. What a perfect gift. So kind of her. And I just wanted to say that I LOVE the photo on your header. I sat and just looked at it just now and then noticed that I was grinning. It is so peaceful and perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh such a loving gift Vee. I think your photography is just fine. The lighting can be exasperating. I find it either too bright or too dark in the house these days.
ReplyDeleteRight now. . we are having an odd bit of sunshine. . quite lovely.
OH ..and my post is complete. How on earth do I not publish the script?
Perpetual twilight. That is it. I have been keeping count. Every time I have driven to town the last three weeks, which is about twice a week, I have taken a shot of the road and it was snowing, raining, cloudy. Too much. I like your idea, of brightening up the indoors. Gonna do that right now. Love that painting.

What a special and fitting gift. Vickie is an amazing talent and I love her blog and her farm in TX!
ReplyDeleteThe story of your mom and her friend was so touching--the friendships of women never fails to inspire me.
I loved reading the story from May '08! "Your eyes, your beautiful eyes." How wonderful. They don't change with time...eyes, or friendships! What wonderful memories. And a very special gift!
ReplyDeleteWow... the painting is absolutely beautiful..... and so touching about your mom's Texas friend.
ReplyDeleteGod is good!
