A Haven for Vee

A New Week

Ahhhh Monday...a week spreads before me; How shall I fill it?

First I should say that we did get our celebrations in even if they were slightly delayed. We went to a state park on the coast where we couldn't see the water for the trees. (It's an ongoing complaint of mine. ☺)

I suppose that we could have stayed at home to play on a rain-soaked lawn, but everyone had a good time and sometimes going elsewhere is the thing. That field was so waterlogged that every step was squishy and Jake in red up there took repeated baths in puddles. In the end, the players gave up and took off their shoes and socks.

~*~*~*~

~ghostly perhaps ghastly~

This is an anniversary week so John and I have more celebratory plans. Yes, that is our one and only wedding photo. Thank you for your sympathies.☺

I am hoping that we can do better for Donna's photo challenge (see sidebar). The years have not been kind. We are older, plumper, grayer, and more wrinkled. We are dragging a bit. Have been reading a lot about how to take a proper and flattering photo. (Those articles are gathered and posted by Donna and you can find them by clicking the button.) Last night, I saw a commercial that said something like "you're the only one who can take a good photo of yourself" and I thought true... No one has taken a good photo of me yet. LOL!

So that's all I have for today. Will catch up with you after my chores are done.

  2. Nice that you were able to make family memories despite the soggy conditions.
Happy Anniversary to you and John. A lovely photo of the two of you.
I can relate to the plumper, grayer, wrinklier business. Ugh!
Tips for taking a more flattering photo of oneself? I'm off to check it out.

  3. Too bad about the squishy ground. Good thing that kids can have fun regardless. And I had to laugh about what's said about taking a photo of oneself. Personally, I don't want a photo that looks like me. I want a photo that flatters me. Even Princess Diana looked pretty bad in profile. :-) And happy anniversary to you two! I don't dare post the one and only photo of our wedding. It looks like children getting married. Very scary. Have a wonderful week, Vee.

  4. Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby, dear Vee :) You and John are a darling couple!

    Enjoy your week - hugs!

  5. Happy anniversary to you both!! I hope you have an opportunity to celebrate the blessing of one another sometime this week! ♥ ♥

I had to smile at Jake taking baths in puddles. Don't children "find" puddles so readily? And often "find" themselves in them? Fun!! Looks like a grand day spent together!

  6. Hoping you have a wonderful anniversary celebration, whether you look like yourself, or not. :-)
Boys don't care about squishy, dirty fun do they? Our girls would not have removed their shoes, high and dry with the Barbies was their thing. LOL

  7. Hi love your blog, so pretty.♥

Hope you have a wonderful anniversary. I don't think many people enjoy seeing pictures of themselves, I know I scrutinise mine and rarely like them! :)

Looks like lots of fun was had, there's nothing like bare feet on wet grass, rather freeing I think.

  8. Welcome to your new week. What good sports you took to the park with you. Glad everyone had a soggy good time. Today we stood under a tree or two to get out of a passing rain shower. A very happy Anniversary to the two of you whenever it is this week!

  9. Dear Vee, Happy Anniversary and I think your photo is still a treasure! I think we always feel that any picture of us looks bad of ourselves! But I feel the same way about my voice on my voice messages LOL
Enjoy your next adventure to celebrate my friend! I am still on vacation and looking forward to a bit more summer plans! Hugs, Roxy

  11. Glad you guys had your celebration despite the weather.
Wishing you and John a happy anniversary.
When John and I visited the waterfall recently where we had our 1st date, he asked should we get someone to take a photo of us? No, I said...I don't need to be reminded of what a toll the last 20 years have taken!!!!!

    1. Thanks, Kristi. "This is the Man" I believe was the post. In hindsight, it is a little too romantic.☺

  14. Happy Anniversary Vee! I often think of the verse, though outwardly we are wasting away (ouch!!), inwardly we are being renewed. Then I try to smile, to lift up the saggy bits!! (I think the picture is sweet.)

  15. Happy Anniversary!!! Wishes for many more. Loved the pictures. Blessings

  16. Happy Anniversary Vee. We are all in the same boat so to speak. None of us are getting younger, firmer or thinner. Take that picture and love yourself like you love everyone else in spite of sags and wrinkles. In the end it's not the outer appearance that matters, it's the heart, and you have a beautiful one :>)

  18. Vee, Looks like you had a great time on the 4th, regardless of the weather. We had Hurricane Arthur by the shore, but we had beautiful weather. I would have traded my sunshine for the ability to be with the Grands back home though. You are blessed. You look so pretty in your wedding photo.

  19. Happy Anniversary to you and John. Is anyone ever happy with photos of herself? I doubt it. Maybe once or twice. We are not very good at accepting our looks as God's gift to us, are we? (you know I'm preaching to myself here.) I think you are lovely inside and out.

  20. Happy Anniversary! You look so happy and cute!
It does look like it was a bit cool for your celebrations too.
Heck, as far as aging goes I guess it's best to just go with the flow and be thankful for our good health.
At least that's what I'm Trying to do....

  21. How blessed you are to have the photo! With all the pictures we've taken ~ not one wedding photo. I still can't believe it. You should love this photo. I dare say you look like a teenager and a happy one!! I still have the post bookmarked of when you realized John was the one. Happy Anniversary and may you have many, many more.

  22. Happy Anniversary! The picture marks something very significant and special and I hope you have a great time celebrating! Love your green mosaic! It looks like a good time.

  23. Happy Anniversary to you! I prefer to be left out of pictures, too. It is a reality that I do not wish to be reminded of :-/
Having fun with the grandkids is a great way to spend a day. We had our little guys twice this week and it was a blast!

  24. Happy Anniversary to you two! I remember the post on your wedding announcement and that just makes me happy that we have been friends that long!

  25. Happy Anniversary. I think the best way to take a good picture is from up high. Stand on a chair and look down...hides the double chins.. HaHa. We are who we are...but we all like to look good in a picture, don't we??

  26. Happy Anniversary! : )
Nice that you got to celebrate the holiday with your family, even if it was squishy.
I like the bridge in the woods.

  27. Happiest of anniversary weeks to you! We just had ours a week or so ago. We don't have a lot of great photos of the two of us in the past ten years because SOMEBODY likes to hide from the camera. That somebody is trying to change that bad habit these days. She would hate for her grandchildren to think she was in a coma for a decade or something.

  29. The years have not been kind. We are older, plumper, grayer, and more wrinkled , aren't we all and girl I am proud to say heck we earned all of it lol ! Happy Anniversary to you both ! Lovely photos looks like all had a great time ! Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !

  30. Yepparroo... the years have not been kind here, either!

My week started last Friday when Christopher found out they would not be closing on the house as planned and had to move boxes into the Study and their furniture to a friend's garage. They are staying with the friend and Sebastian Kitty is going to be staying at our house, in the Study, in a DOG PEN. Yeah, pray for me. I have no idea how Victoria is going to handle another kitty in the house even if there is a closed door between them! My feline house guest will arrive shortly.

  31. That's a GOOD photo of the two of you! Look at your smile...you look so happy. And John has not changed, has he? I hope you have a Happy Anniversary this week! Sweet hugs, Diane

  32. Laughing about your comment over at Cheryl's - about the shirt folding learned in prison. LOL

  33. LOL, I got a kick out of your wedding photo. Those white shirts sure can fool a camera meter! I struggle with portraits. It's just not my thing. I despise photos of myself, and I don't like to ask people to pose - not even Jim. I've got two candid shots lined up for the challenge, and I finally broke down and asked Jim to sit for a semi-formal portrait. It was a very slipshod setup on our screened in back porch. And I asked him to use a prop. He was a good sport, and is rewarded him by cloning out all of the nasty skin crusts on his head from chemo. I was laughing my butt off while I did some inspired post-processing on it. I promise - it will make you laugh!
