1. April is Lawn and Garden Month. On a scale of 1-10 what's the current state of your lawn and/or garden. (10=a showpiece, 1=send in the professionals). Tell us about any lawn or garden plans you have for this month.
This is easy. My lawn/garden is under snow.
Send in the sun!

Send in the sun!
☀️
If the snow melts, and the lawn dries some, I hope to rake the sand off, clean the garden, and get things tidied in general. My mailbox also sits on my front lawn and it is looking a bit shabby so I hope to replace it or spruce it up.
2. "Many things grow in the garden that were never sown there."~Thomas Fuller What does this quote mean to you?
Oh heavens! Joyce is making me think again. It's been a long time since I saw the garden... Let me try to bring up that picture...π π π ahhh, yes, joy and pleasure in seeing the beautiful flowers and anticipation even now. And I have some special tulips planted there that I hope will bloom this spring. π·π·π·π·π·
3. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think about God?
LOVE
4. If we were chatting in person, how would I know if you were nervous?
lack of eye contact π³
5. Do you like the color yellow?
π my favorite!
Would I find any in your home or wardrobe?
One pale yellow shirt~jacket (I don't wear yellow well.)
Lots of wood that is yellow...kinda...see header
One yellow wall
Buttery yellow kitchen cabinets that need to be painted!
Splashes of yellow here and there...
Daffodils, tulips, roses, sunflowers, day lily, black eyed susan...which yellow bloom on this list is your favorite?
Yellow roses are my favorites, but I π all posies...
6. Flip flops or bare feet?
In time past, flip flops. Alas, I developed that nerve thing on my toes where the thong goes...ouchie! It only affects my right foot so I could wear a flop on my left and go barefoot on my right...it'd be a look. π
7. Tell us about any Easter plans, celebrations, or traditions you'll carry out this month.
Plans still not finalized, but my grandson, who keeps tabs on all such engagements, tells me that it is my year.
8. Insert your own random thought here.

Loved the photo of John......
ReplyDeleteIt is always a pleasure to see a photo of your beloved John, my friend...smiles
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the Hodgepodge, hang on, there is more snow coming, sigh....
Hope things warm up for you soon!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the photo of John too. It was a wonderful addition to your beautiful yard photos. And as for beautiful yards, isn't it amazing how long your winter has hung around! I sure hope you get sun and warm weather soon. It's another lesson for all of us northerners to make the most of summer while we can! Have a good week, Vee. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judy. To put things into perspective, the photo of John wearing a flannel shirt was taken in July of 2015. No one should move to my corner unless one enjoys capricious weather.
DeleteLove the photo of John! and I knew your favorite color was yellow:-) My yard is probably an 8 just because I haven't finished all the planting I want to do since moving here 2 1/2 years ago.
ReplyDeleteVee...you have the most marvelous sense of humor....I always leave you with a smile! Such lovely, lovely photos today!
ReplyDeleteVee... if the sun shows up could you send it my way? Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteSoo glad you joined in today! I really enjoyed yours as always. Loved that pic of your John!
ReplyDeleteLovely post today, Vee. I really must join the Hodge Podge sometime :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing well and enjoying your week! Hugs to you, sweet lady!
Great post, My lawn would be a 2. I give it 1 point for beginning to show green but it's still in pretty sorry shape. Your photos make me ready for that green grass under my bare feet!
ReplyDeleteAnother enjoyable Hodge Podge, Vee. How sweet to see a photo of John sitting on the steps. Your yard is beautiful - and spring WILL come, it always does.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to read your responses, but especially enjoyed the picture of John.
ReplyDeleteLove was my first thought of God. No, yellow is my favorite!!! So it is your year for Easter....make it a great one.
ReplyDeleteπ Well every day is Easter for me, but it is my turn to host this year. Thanks for popping by, Debby.
DeleteI hope your snow melts soon and you can get out in the garden! When I lived in upstate NY Memorial day weekend was the weekend we put flowers in outdoor pots. Great picture of John.
ReplyDeleteI meant to tell you the other day how much I liked your new mantle on your header pic...the fabric or throw that is draped over the frame is such a nice touch. I am waiting on some fabric to arrive for curtains for the bedroom that I plan to make...very similar to that...such a lovely print. The photos of your lawn are gorgeous...I know you are just itching to get out there...snow, snow, go away!
ReplyDeleteApril is Lawn and Garden month?? hahahaha. We're getting snow today- to add to the already "covers the ground" snow we have. Hope you're NOT getting this too, Vee. But yes, spring WILL come, it always does. In the meantime, wishing you a big bouquet of yellow roses... Thanks for the lovely summery photos to give us hope! I too enjoyed seeing John enjoying the yard. Hugs.

DeleteI smile every time I see our friend John. I love your buttery yellow cabinets in the kitchen. I don't wear yellow, but I adore it in my house and in the garden!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to pop in and say hey Vee. Have a great day! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteIt seems most people today say they don't wear yellow well. I think it's hard to find a very pale yellow in clothing. Hope you're able to dig out the garden soon. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteVee, there is much to look forward to in your corner. I hope you will show a photo of the special tulips when they bloom. I like yellow as well, but it makes me look yellow, so I don't. Our daughter's snow is melting quickly and I hope the same for you. ♥
ReplyDeleteI love yellow but can't wear it either! My kitchen was yellow before I painted it gray last year and now I miss the yellow! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove this, Vee. I love yellow, too, but don't wear it well either- I always feel like a school bus in it---thar she is!!
ReplyDeleteStill bits of ice in the bay here but we are warming up. I am anxious for spring. xo Diana
Loved reading your Hodgepodge, Vee! The photo of John ... love it. And your yard in its summer glory!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, we are experiencing weather similar to yours ... it snowed overnight! Not a lot, but enough to coat everything again. And I loved your answer to #2. That quote could surely be looked at from many different angles.
Enjoyed reading your hodgepodge! Oye...I just didn't take that quote deep enough. All I had to say was weeds. LOL. Dear said it goes to show that I'm not a gardener at heart...which is true. Love your sunny yard shots!
ReplyDeleteLove this photo of John, Vee. He looks so content and happy sitting on the steps looking at the garden.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow the last two nights. In the day time sun it almost all melted x2. I'm so happy that now we've had good moisture to soak the dry grasses all around us.
I have only a few yellow items of summer clothing. I look best in dark colors but pastels make me happy.
Well, you could definitely start a new foot fashion and I guarantee folks would jump on your fashion train. ππ I can't imagine having a yard covered in snow this time of year. Great answers!
ReplyDeleteLove the sweet picture of John beside the Day Lilies. Bless you, dear one!
ReplyDeleteLove these hodge lodge posts! Spring WILL come - I'm sure!!! I'm pretty sure ...
ReplyDeleteMorning Vee! The first house I owned had buttery yellow cabinets and I loved them.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of John is so sweet.
We have had severe thunderstorms this week. Our ground is saturated!
I hope you have a very nice day. xoxo
I hope Spring arrives soon for you :-) It is one of my favorite times of year, love watching everything reawaken :-) Lovely pictures.... I hope you have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill
So nice to see a photo of John here today. It looks as though he is taking a moment to relax and enjoy the beauty of the garden. Hopefully it won't be too much longer until you can be doing the same.
ReplyDeleteI am reminded of a little song we sang in my Sunday school teaching days. A little bird told me God is love.
I'm wondering what kind of person it takes to pull off yellow successfully. Seems I'm always hearing people say they can't wear that color.
Vee, I love yellow, too, and have had a buttery yellow kitchen my entire adult life!
ReplyDeleteVee, you crack me up sometimes. Loved your flip flop answer. I can totally relate!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to rate my garden/lawn it would be 2 - needs help! Still snow covered for the most part but this rainy forecast is going to help that a lot. I love the pics of your yard and garden, and John in contemplation. I can't wear flip-flops (thongs) for the same reason you can't but I love my Dawgs Sandals and wear them, barefoot, from May to September. I can't wait to free my feet of socks and shoes!! Easter plans? Music, music, music ~ three church services. Not sure about dinner yet. Best make some plans soon but I hope to include an Easter egg hunt with our adult kids. xo Pam
ReplyDeleteI too favor yellow roses. We got some get well ones today! Lovely photos of your house in warmer weather, and your dear John. That photo made me pause. Your grandsons do sound on the ball and delightful!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee, As usual, I really enjoyed reading the Hodge Podge post! The pictures of your lawn are so pretty; I know you'll be glad to be able to see it again. :) I love the photo of John, and those orange day lilies remind me of the ones that we call railroad lilies around here. They were originally planted beside the railroad tracks many years ago, and still grow there. We had some at our first house, and I still miss them.
ReplyDeleteOur lawn, on a scale of one to ten right now is probably a two. ;/ Our mower is not working, and the grass is looking quite shaggy. It's also time to do weeding -- Yikes! Have a good weekend, Vee. :)
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
