Tea Time Not in the Garden ツ

After a bit of a mix-up, this post has returned proving that I can get it together when I have to.

(Not updating...beyond frustrating!)

🌼🌿🌼🌿🌼

Finally, after all these years, I am joining Bernideen for Tea in the Garden Wednesday. My garden is not in such fine shape today (we are expecting snow...boo hiss) nor will it be until well into May so I am joining from my dining room table using my Queens Royal bone china Made in England
yellow tea cup.💛 This tea cup came to me from my grandmother's collection.

~yes, I prefer cream in my tea; I am a tea baby~

I am serving this with the lemon cake I made for Easter. My grandson Jakob and I liked the cake while the rest of the family did not. Still they did eat some because Jake and I did not eat half the cake! Some people do not enjoy lemon desserts; I really must remember this.

(Since I first wrote this post, I have shared the cake with my sisters-in-law who both declared it good. Obviously, they like lemon! )

🌼🌿🌼🌿🌼

The recipe for the cake, that the original two-thirds of us did not enjoy, if you dare , is to use any cake mix, add an extra egg, change the water to whole milk, change the oil to melted butter, and bake as directed. In my opinion, it makes a delicious, moist cake.

🌼🌿🌼🌿🌼

  1. Good morning Vee,
Your teacup is a pretty one and also a treasure having passed to you from your grandmother. I too had a NB grandmother whom I adored. Actually, I am originally from NB and my first home was at her home. I have so many wonderful memories of the farm. Wish I had one of her teacups though. I was horrified to learn from my uncle that back in the day, they often threw treasures over the river bank after a loved one had passed which is likely the case here. So sad! My mother's generation didn't quite appreciate the lovely china and antiques that we do today. Thank you for your visit. It is lovely to meet you. Have a delightful day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  2. Tea and lemon cake. Yum. Your teacup can really brighten up our cloudy days here. Oh wait...I do believe I see some sunshine on the deck. How nice to have a teacup from your grandmother. Trader Joe's has a new boxed lemon loaf mix that is really good. I suppose you don't have Trader Joe's in your neck of the woods. Maybe I'll send you a box...I think I can put my detective skills to work and find an address.

  3. Vee, beautiful teacup, and I especially appreciate that it was your grandmother's. I love using things my mother and grandmothers used. I don't use cake mixes, except my own homemade cake mixes that put up in quart jars. I don't think they save that much time. But I doubt I'd turn down any slice of cake and a cup of tea!

  5. Ugh, not snow again! My poor friend, I truly feel for you. No one should have to go through that in April. :(
Your teacup is beautiful, and goes with lemon cake perfectly. I can't imagine not liking lemon. Oh well, more for the rest of us I always say ;)

  8. I'd love to join you for tea and a slice of lemon cake, Vee. Your grandma's teacup is so pretty and matches the lemon cake! I'm glad that you joined in on Bernideen's tea party. Hopefully one day soon, you'll be able to have tea in your garden.

  9. I'm sure you love drinking tea from that gorgeous teacup, Vee. I love the old delicate bone china. I made a lemon drizzle cake for Easter--Jean's recipe--it was yummy. Of course, if you don't like lemon you wouldn't like it. I hope you enjoy your afternoon. ♥

  12. I love your teacup and I do love anything made with lemon. I had a yellow teacup and when I gave each of my daughters a teacup she picked that one. I didn't have the heart to say that it was my favorite one ;) I just let her have it.

  15. Do you add lemon flavor to the mix? What kind of frosting did you use?

    You always do fun things.

    1. I didn't add any lemon flavoring. The frosting is a cream cheese/ buttercream frosting.

  17. I love lemon desserts. Your cake looks delicious and the recipe would make a great, moist cake that tastes like 'scratch' cake. Yummy. The teacup is such a pretty yellow. I would gladly have joined you for tea and lemon cake. ^..^
