Just because I've always wanted to join in and today's the day!
1. April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes. When did you last 'shower attention on someone or have attention 'showered' on you? Did you love it or did all that attention make you squirm?
We must be a family of squirmers because showering attention on each other is simply not done. I do not shower attention on anyone nor does anyone shower attention on me. Maybe I should try it and watch'em squirm!
2. Share a favorite 'spring break' memory. Not talking about just the college 'spring break' thing, but any favorite spring break memory you'd like to share. Keep it family friendly please!
Given my first answer, this is not going to surprise anyone. We don't "do" spring breaks. Nor did I ever do spring breaks in college. ☺
~junior year in college~
3. It's National Pecan Month...are you a fan? If so, what's your favorite dish that calls for pecans?
Phew. Finally. An affirmative. Yes, I love pecans and a pecan pie made with brown sugar can't be beat.
4. 'Put all your eggs in one basket', 'egg on your face', rotten egg', 'walk on eggshells' or 'a good egg'...which eggs-pression could most recently be applied to your own life?
Walk on eggshells is the closest, but it is actually true of my entire life. Maybe it's me?!
5. In my experience__________________________________________.
In my experience, life is what you make it.
6. What's a favorite song with the word rain in its title or lyrics?
Singing in the Rain comes to mind.
7. What does the word hope mean to you?
Oddly enough, "hope" is not much of a concept for me. It doesn't have enough oomph. It's too much like marshmallow fluff or bird feathers. I would rather believe, rest, trust or have faith.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Well wasn't that delightful? LOL! I think it is safe to say that I'll link without participating. I have so wanted to try this based on others' participation who actually do a great job with it. Thank you, Debbie, for first sparking my interest!
*Hodge Podge Wednesday*
P.S. Profound apologies for the formatting here. It is not cooperating and I've decided not to care (too much).
I love to hear more about blog friends, it brings us all closer together,
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by from the Hodgepodge. So glad you joined in, this week.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm a fan of pecan pie, too.
I am thinking that you must have had a bridal or wedding shower somewhere along the line, for you or another family member? We are having a baby shower for my niece in a couple of weeks, so that kind of shower is on the brain.
ReplyDeleteDon't pecans make almost anything better? :)
I think Hodge Podge Wednesday posts are always fun to read!
Oh, and I meant to say that I LOVE your college photo! Beautiful!!
DeleteHi. I'm visiting from the Hodgepodge. Welcome!! My husband loves pecan pie. I have to say, I've never even tried it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I enjoyed reading your answers Vee. Pecan pie is a favorite of mine too.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking. But I do know that I want a piece of Pecan Pie right now.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading this. And I've never made a pecan pie but don't mind eating one someone else makes.
ReplyDeleteI love your college photo....you haven't changed! What a fun post but harder than you would think. Enjoy your day my friend! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou know I love to read what others say about themselves - you get to know the other person better - in ways what commenting doesn't tell you. Very interesting. For me I love the word hope it keeps me going!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I was excited to see you joined in! I ALWAYS over think those answers and write a small book for the answers (as my kids would say, lol). "Life is what you make it" oh, soo true. Even in the midst of hard times or seasons in our lives this is true. You look for the bad, sad, the hard and difficult, the hopeless and the misery it is everywhere around us. But the blessings, joy, happiness and peace and hope they are right there too. Soo it's easy, LOOK for the good...See what I mean? Way too gabby. Enjoy your day Vee. OH, and how I'd love to have you share a little of your colder weather. Another scorcher on the way today!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture Vee!! Congrats on joining on the fun. Joyce always makes the questions interesting. Blessings
ReplyDeleteThat is something I have wanted to do without actually participating too, Vee. I will sometimes read one and say my own answers in my head. Sometimes I don't like the questions so that's why I don't participate. Simple as that. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture of you! ~ This was a fun questionnaire. . .I was answering those questions as I read and remembering the days of yesteryear.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading this, and good for you for participating!
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of Hodge Podge Wednesday, but I loved reading your answers. And the questions - who thinks up those?
ReplyDeleteInteresting that you should think hope a weak word. It's one concept that has more and more meaning for me as I meander through this earthly life. The Psalms are so full of hope.
So glad you decided to participate today and I do hope it won't be the last time. I look forward to learning mor about you as we share together on Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI love those words together Hodge Podge. I might have to look up where that phrase came from, etc. I enjyed reading your inserts. It's a lot easier to take a showering of whatever in a written form in my case and it's also easier for me to shower someone in the written form...
ReplyDeleteLove your college picture Vee! It was so fun to read your answers and I love pecans too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great college photo! You are darling!
ReplyDeleteI like the words you used instead of hope. I think our view of hope is not what it used to be, since it seems to be a thing that we use when we are wanting something to happen but we are not sure it will. It seems like the hope in the Bible is more certain. Does that make sense?
I am not a mushy, marshmallowy kind of gal - so I am not sure I 'shower' any one with the way they mean it. Though I do delight in my family and friends, and let them know it often.
Pecans - yes, indeed! Tim loves pecan pie. I should surprise him with one soon!
Fun post!
Deanna
And, yet, another piece of the puzzle ... *lol*
ReplyDeleteJust kidding. I enjoyed the answers. We must be similar in dealing with life in that you're not into all the estrogen based "feelings". Neither am I. Rather than the ethereal possibilities of "hope" I'd rather have faith in substance. Not the What If world of wishing.
Hope it's finally warmed up for y'all. It's one of those bowl you over with beauty Spring days here in SE Georgia. ~:)
Loved the college photo(beautiful), and as always love to read your thoughts, never made pecan pie using brown sugar, must try. I have wanted to try Hodgepodge Wednesday but was always afraid the questions might be to hard. ~smile~ You did a great job hope to see more.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
Sue
Such a pretty college photo, Vee! Spring break in college?? That just meant no school for awhile! I vote for pecan pie, too. Have a happy day. xo
ReplyDeleteSpring break? Me either. Except I did love getting to sleep in with the kids and not worrying about early bedtimes or homework. Good answers on your first go with the meme!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is your lovely college picture.
ReplyDeleteNever did spring break either.
I planted my peas and carrots today. Random thought, that.
Nope- I never did Spring Break either nor did any of my kids. Were their lives RUINED because of it? Absolutely not. lol Love all your answers.
ReplyDeletePecans? My favorite is Pecan Waffles-or pecan pie. xo Diana
Vee
ReplyDeleteVery interesting answers. I especially agree with you on #7.
Love you college photo.
I love your answers Vee. I never knew anyone did spring break until our kids were old enough to take to Disneyland and then discovered people we knew there from Canada! Go figure. Now I know.
ReplyDeleteInteresting answers and a nice college photo. I like pecan pie and have made it many times, mine has brown sugar and corn syrup in it.
ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting. I like how you think Vee!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun Vee, I loved your answers and no I never did spring break either :)
ReplyDeleteHi Vee, Fun to read your answers and what a pretty photo of you. As a kid, we had pecan trees in the yard. I loved baking with them and pie is a fav.
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed reading the hodgepodge posts of others, and I have often thought about doing it myself. So many of your answers to this one would be MY answers so I guess I'll just pretend this is my own hodgepodge this week.
ReplyDeleteNever did spring break in college either. Of course, I live about an hour from the Georgia coast so getting sun never required a big commitment.
I enjoyed reading your Hodge Podge answers, Vee!
ReplyDeleteYou are very pretty! Spring Break? Who had $ for Spring Break back in the days? I certainly did not--I worked during my school breaks. In HS I worked in an office after school and then I worked as a junior nurse's aide on weekends. I was able to fund a trip to Italy in my senior year in HS--that was a graduation gift to myself I never regretted!
In college I continued to work in the hospital as an aide until I was able to get my LPN licence in junior year, and then I did Per Diem until I began my full time job as a licensed RN.
I'll have to try this sometime. : )
ReplyDeleteSuch a great way to get to know someone. Very pretty and fun. Never got around to spring break.
ReplyDeleteJanet.. I hope you can stop by for a visit.
