A Biking Adventure
My niece (gal on left) and her friend are on a biking adventure. They take at least one every summer. Last year they flew to Austria and biked all over the place; this year, they are biking to New Brunswick. They'll be there in time to celebrate Canada Day.
The grands were duly impressed.
Don't know what she told them, but it had to be good. We thought of them this morning when we woke to such chilly temps. Good biking weather, though...
Wishing all my friends and family in Canada a beautiful holiday weekend!
That is an adventure! I'm sure the boys will be inspired!
ReplyDeleteOur temps are going to be in the low 80s and mostly sunny. Very nice weather!
I'm sure Tim's cousins will be at their cottage this weekend celebrating Canada Day. Their cottage is in Ontario. We love to go there, and think it is such a neat addition to their family heritage. You all are lucky to have that in your lives!

What a fun way to see the world and stay in shape at the same time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to travel. I wonder if Austria has lots of bike paths. I haven't been to the Netherlands in more than 30 years, but I was always impressed with all of the bike paths and bicycles being (what seemed) the favorite mode of transportation. Did the girls take their bicycles to Austria or rent when they arrived? I love their spirit of adventure and what a wonderful sense of "can do" this must give the boys.
ReplyDeleteAustria has fabulous bike paths off the roads with restaurants and camping places scattered along the way.........
DeleteWOW,,,,very adventuresome and fun, I imagine the boys were VERY impressed. Just think of the things they'll see. Enjoy your week-end Vee!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tradition....I hope they keep it up all their lives! Your grandsons may be planning some adventures for the time when they are a bit older! My daughter Alice and her husband had a biking honeymoon. They began in Germany, biked across Austria and ended in Budapest. They they went back to France and followed the Tour de France for a while.....Biking is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh to be young and strong. Hope they have a great time.
ReplyDeleteCute photo of the boys!
Wishing you a nice weekend.
I'm impressed too! Wishing them a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I have always wanted to backpack in Europe. Loved, loved the picture of your grands. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to know what the girls were sharing with your grandsons.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to see life in other parts of the world. I imagine they could share many wonderful stories of their travels.
How nice that they share this interest and can enjoy the adventures together. Have a fabulous weekend, too, Vee!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a super adventure. I wish I were bolder sometimes. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun and I hope they have a safe trip. I'm not sure I'd want to bike along the roads the way they drive around here! Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteBeen catching up here Vee. Like you I have been busy in the garden of late and not enough time spent reading blogs. Biking when young like that is brilliant, they will have such memories.
ReplyDeleteBrave girls on their bikes. If I were younger....nah, I don't think so. Don't like biking up hills.
ReplyDeleteWeather here is matching yours today, but we're supposed to clear up over the weekend and have a beautiful Canada Day!
That's quite a bike ride! What a wonderful way to travel!
ReplyDeleteIf I was younger ... oh, yeah, I'd be out there doing that too. Nowadays my "biking" has to have a motor. Hope they enjoy a pleasant and safe journey. ~:)
ReplyDeleteAdventurous girls they are! Love how they are entertaining the grands...who are probably entertaining the idea of their own biking adventures in the future! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great way to take a look at the country side. Better than zooming by in a car. I love walking vacations too.
ReplyDeleteYes, you would! = D
DeleteI have met some of the dearest bloggers from Canada. I love biking and not long ago I got my bike out to go riding with my husband..and couldn't do it. It was very upsetting and I had to put the bike away. He went without me. A horrible feeling. What a great way to spend the summer ..out there iin the world adventuring!
ReplyDeleteGood for those girls.
Good for them! Now that would require a little training. Wishing them a great journey on comfortable saddles...and a warm Canadian reception when they arrive!
ReplyDeleteHeidi rode her bike from Vancouver to Seattle last weekend...240 kilometers in the rain. Oye! It was a cancer research fundraiser.
Your niece would love Colorado! There are so many avid bicyclers here. They bike up and down the mountains. Hope she and her friend have a safe and enjoyable trip!
