Where Have All the Bloggers Gone?
That's what I've been wondering. It seems exceptionally quiet. The halls echo. Perhaps it is the news of the day for every day brings a new alarm or sorrow. Perhaps the garden and outdoor pursuits beckon. Perhaps one has been out with her photography assistant taking photos for Donna's Challenge tomorrow...see sidebar...all about weather.
Yes, my photography assistant loves being dragged out into the rain. He may have been heard muttering something about people not believing what I put him through. Gheesh. But he'll happily take the credit for my our efforts tomorrow.
What is keeping you busy?
I grocery shopped this morning and am trying to rationalize how the price has gone up on everything in just a week's time.
ReplyDeleteShocking, isn't it! I had not been grocery shopping for a few months. I nearly keeled over.
DeleteI just sat down to lunch after a morning of grocery shopping. Despite coupons and every other money saving thing I could think of the total was near $200. I know what you mean about nearly keeling over, Vee. I really feel for those raising families now.
DeleteVee!! Look at your hair!!! I love it!!!--I am getting a late start today, my husband slept here in the 3rd bedroom where the computer and window ac is, he said it was to hot, unlike myself, where I kept the fan on me all night in the master bedroom. So, I had to wait until he woke up. I am pretty sure he didn't want to hear clickity clack of the keyboard at 5:30 am, lol. Raining here in western NY, the humidity has backed off somewhat..Blessings. I know, tmi, lol.
ReplyDeleteYup. My recession hairdo.
DeleteWell..I LOVE IT!! smiles--I hear you..I haven't had one in 2 months now. Nor color..perhaps that is why my husband is making comments. (wink)
DeleteAs soon as it is light, I clean out the bird bath and fountain and then feed the birds. When the birds are finished, I water the garden ... front and back ... at least every other day. By that time, it's too hot to be outside. I have an afghan to finish but just can't bring myself to put it on my lap and get it done. I'm reading, playing the cats and doing an index card a day. Met with my money guy. odds and ends. summer is when i hibernate .. blog included!
ReplyDeleteDear Vee, Watering the flowerbeds everyday. I have no pictures for the Storm challenge for tomorrow! Having company today for two nights. We leave for a 17 days of vacation soon! It gets windy everyday at 3:00!
ReplyDeleteBlogging and going to bed a t 9:30 as I can't keep my eyes open after that :o)
It has been quiet on my blog also... Glad to see anyone come visit and leave a comment!
Blessings, Roxy
I bet some have headed outdoors after that winter a lot of the country experienced.
ReplyDeleteCute photo.
It has been very quiet, for quite some time now. But just at this moment, I'm quiet because dd Emily is here with her dd Clara who is going to Safety Town as her Aunt Alice did the year we moved here. And Emily is out looking at houses quite a bit. And I'm slower than I used to be at almost everything! Had a very low key for Andy's birthday and it took ages to do. ( But a wonderful time was had by all!) I mostly garden on my deck and that's taking a long time, too, though almost done.
ReplyDeleteAnd Andy got his Angel Pie even though it was a rainy two days and not the perfect time to deal with meringue!
ReplyDeleteHi sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteI have been soooooooooooooo away from computer: working, company, redecrating office, gaming, movies, reading, crafting - trying to stay busy and give my body and eyes especially a rest from the bright glowing screen.
I am sorry I have been afk - your blog is always a favorite.
I think our husbands would like one another - he too is "very helpful" to me for about everything!
Big hugs. ♥
AFK? Hmmm...
DeleteOh! Away from keyboard...got it
yahoo! the sun is shining for the first time in over a week. I am going out and plant some flowers.
ReplyDeleteWe could get more rain this afternoon.
Hi Vee, what a cute picture. You so graciously share your lives with us. We've talked before about the hills and valleys of blogging but this seems less activity than I ever remember in recent years. It could be that bad winter as you said, or blogger fatigue. I'm not sure what is keeping me busy but I am finding less time to be on the blog scene. But it's worth turning on the computer each day just to see your cheery post (and a few others)!
ReplyDeleteYes, I always notice this when the weather is pretty. Everyone hopefully healthily "unplugs' a bit more than in winter and then vacations.
ReplyDeleteI have 6 children parked at my house that need the bandwith or need entertaining, depending on their ages so my time on the computer is limited.
have a great weekend!
Sherry
I have noticed the absent of bloggers, too!
ReplyDeleteFunny how that goes. I miss a lot of my "friends"
There is so much outside work these days, I'm surprised I can keep up my regular schedule. But I'm planning a two week break later in the summer so I don't want to go away completely. Can't have people forgetting, hehehe.
ReplyDeleteIt is most likely why so few comment and you receive more than anyone I know! That's because you do not have a blog, you have a community. ;)
It's summer.. time to be outside enjoying the long , long days.
ReplyDeleteOver here , I have to wait till 7pm to be outside it is so HOT unless I am at the beach
haven't made it yet. oh but, I will.
hopefully Tealyn will like it.
Vee - that's the best selfie I've seen of you. Nice to see you coming out of the shadows, you're beautiful! Can't speak for other bloggers, but I'm around, just sporadic with my posts. Will look forward to seeing your pictures tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selfie! I had John on the side of the road in the rain yesterday taking a fence photo!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are busy still sorting out what goes where!!!
I've noticed the comments slacking off, too. It's just too nice to stay inside, or else we're just too busy to be on the computer. Or are we all getting burned out? I have been pondering how much longer I want to do this lately. I love it, but it is tooooo time consuming.
ReplyDeleteWho is that cute girl peeking into the mirror? :)
I think everyone gets busy in the summer months. I've been sewing up a storm and this morning I made a run to the thrift store to look for a big pot to coffee stain some fabric. I didn't find one I wanted but brought a bag full of 'junk' home! haha! We're getting a rain shower right now and it's so nice. I guess I'll go outside and see if I can get another stormy photo. Your hair is so pretty my friend! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteHave spent the morning making a cranberry torte with some frozen berries that were at the bottom of the freezer compartment and a ham and bean soup with a hambone that was also rattling around the freezer ... am on a mission to use up all the 'various and sundry' that is in my pantry and freezer ... this is a start. Little blogging lately because of family and health issues ... I'll be back at it when I perk up ... til then, I just touch base with my fave blogs and rest my mind.
ReplyDeleteSusan, you take all the rest you need. Pop in when you can!
DeleteGood question, Vee. I've been wondering that same thing too.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I seem to be more in the "read only" mode right now. It just seems so much easier :D.
Great selfie.
Hi Vee,
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering the same thing! You are so right that the halls are echoing, as if everyone just got out of school for the summer. My husband says that probably exactly what happened. :) I know when our son was in school, we all took off for a week at the beach as soon as possible.
I have missed everyone; I've started to feel as if I'm talking to myself when I do a blog post. :-D To be fair though, I took a week off myself because of family matters and also our little doggie just really keeps us busy.
I love seeing your picture, and I agree with the others that your hair looks so pretty! John is a patient man -- our husbands have to be, don't they? :) I wish I'd known about the storm photo challenge; we've had storms here every night this week. Enjoy your day, Vee!!
Warm Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
You look rather mysterious in that selfie, Vee... :)
ReplyDeleteI think the nice weather has everyone enjoying the garden again! At least that's my excuse. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your hair, Vee! Those waves are gorgeous!
Trying to survive the Obamanation that was once America. There's a lot of self-serving voters out there that hate this country and want to see us fail. It shows.
ReplyDeleteAlso, working outside in our great depression Victory Garden is eating up a lot of time. Gotta eat some how. ~:)
I think we can blame it on the weather ~ the beautiful summery weather that is. It's garden season and a lot of us are out tending to flowers and veggies or planting the same depending on where you live. I think I'm settled right now but the new deck will need my attention to decorating it soon and enjoying it too. Are some on vacation? Entertaining company? It's a busy time of year. Is that you with long wavy hair? I wouldn't know you but I like it. I guess a few of us will be hanging out at our blog posts this summer. We'll just have to keep each other company. Wait until July and August get here as I'll be really out of touch. It's going to be busy.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed people posting less too, of course most of my blog friends have been at it for many years and I think we tend to burn out. Then again, people are outside more in the summer and that is as it should be. I have been cleaning the yard, filling orders for the etsy shop, tomorrow Earl and I are hosting and cooking a Christian Education appreciation dinner for 30+ in the backyard, so THAT has kept us running. And of course there is the wedding planning, 6 weeks and counting down. I'm just having a hard time finding time to blog. (But not to visit and comment apparently, haha!)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful weather , gardening , bike riding, going for long walks with my Miggs and nature photography . I try to pop in with a post every now and then and to visit others just to let them know I am still here lol ! Thanks for sharing . Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteFeedly is back on line so traffic should become better but between graduations and end of year parties, and father's day maybe things won't get too busy quite yet. I felt very out of it without my feedly. I'm dependent that way. Things are heating up here with projects and decisions needing to be made so my time gets less and less on line. We are having 12 for a bbq here tonight. Thankfully it's a potluck and all I'm doing is cleaning, and watching Dear smoke the meat!! Now you know way more than you wanted to know from me...
ReplyDeleteYou have lots of blog comments and lots of visitors. I'm seeing less and less blog posts on my reading list from a a year or so ago, but I'm happy with the ones I have that visit every day. They have become my dearest friends. I love the photo of you in the mirror. Cute idea
ReplyDeleteGuilty as charged! Why is life soooooo busy??? It's been out of control busy here on the farm and I'm hoping things begin to slow down soon. Love the picture of you in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteThis blogging world is keeping ME busy...looking for cool fences....snapping shots of STORMS ....and trying to FILL MY PLATE with Miz Helen.....
ReplyDeleteI've noticed bloggers, including me, haven't been posting as often...too many things going on, I think.
I think after a rough winter, weather wise, everyone is out and about enjoying spring and their gardens, etc! I have been a babysitting queen lately as my kids have been busy doing chores and need the peace and quiet...lol! I don't mind, as I enjoy the grands. I can't be online when they are over and when they all leave I'm too tired to do anything. A blog post a week is all I've been able to manage lately, but I hope to do them more frequently soon!
ReplyDeleteI think this hiatus comes about every year at this time,Vee. Me? I've just finished a round of visits to federal institutions. Blog reading is such a treat at the end of each day.
ReplyDeleteRe your photography assistant: are you paying him in pie? I have found that to be a good incentive!
Well I did make him a rhubarb roll from MGCC...hope that counts!
DeleteI was up in the wee small hours of the morning, to drive to Dulles International Airport to pick up my niece, who was returning from her sisters' high school graduation in Senegal, West Africa. The rush hour traffic is crazy, and I found myself so thankful for my beautiful area I live in where you get a line up of vehicles behind Amish buggys!
ReplyDeleteThen home for a nap. Now prepping the house, just a quick tidy up, as Emma's bonfire for tonight has been rained out and is now a game/movie night! Always hopping!
I am headed to Florida on Saturday to visit Tim's mom for the first time in 9 years all of the siblings that are living will be together with their Mama. She is starting to decline, so it is going to be a special time. I do intend to blog during the week though. I miss it if I am away from it for more than a day or so!
Cute photo - I like your hair long!
Deanna
I've been sick, it's winter here, been doing a lot more sleeping.
ReplyDeleteMerle.............
Vee
ReplyDeleteIs that you in the mirror? Your hair is getting so long and I love it!
Oh, I can't tell you how much more help I get out of Tim now that
I'm blogging-it's wonderful! Tell John he's not alone!
Our church project of getting the radio station garden and surrounding area spruced up.
ReplyDeleteI like your picture in the mirror - like your hair!!!
'Tis the season...for bloggers to be unplugged and outdoors, I guess!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing at John...and his reluctant willingness to be your photo assistant. Did he have something better to do? I'm sure you will be treating him with a special tea time on the deck (like this...http://ahavenforvee.blogspot.ca/2008/05/set-table-tea-is-on.html). I remembered you hosting a tea party for your carpenter way back when...and I went looking. He will be expecting his reward!
Your hair has stretched since last summer. Looks great!
My mother was in the hospital last week and it seems I've spent hours on the phone coordinating her care. She's okay ~ pacemaker.
ReplyDeleteVee,
ReplyDeleteLovely selfie.... I am so busy in the garden that I have little time for the computer. I guess you could say that real life has taken me away from blogland...
Love, Mona
Building a house takes up more time than I thought. In addition, I'm not feeling at home in this rental kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI've been exceptionally busy trying to sort through all of the legalities since my mother passed 3 weeks ago. It's amazing how many times I have to answer the same questions just to get accounts closed and final bills paid! I've, also, been busy with grandchildren. This Saturday I will actually have the entire morning to myself. I think I may hide under the covers with a book.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed the slow down, too. And I'm guilty of not posting as frequently - between the end of the year at school and the garden and wanting to accomplish a few thing around the house, blogging takes a back seat. I hope to get back to more frequency soon. Feedly down this week didn't help the commenting.
ReplyDeleteYour long hair is lovely - are you planning to tie it back on those hot summer days? Stormy weather might have been faked for my photos. But I see clouds rolling in now and I'm keeping my eye on them.
Seriously?? I'm busy blogging and visiting blog friends.Well, I do a lot of other things too, but this keeps me busy. I don't think I could do any more than I'm doing right now. In fact, I'm wondering how you all do it. If this is your slowdown, I can't take the speed-up!! I'm a new blogger and facing burnout. Seriously, really, how do you all do it??
ReplyDeleteSlowly and not all at once. LOL!
DeleteHi Vee, We've had company for several days, each of the past two weeks. Also I've been working in the garden about 4 hours per day (not when my company was here, though). My garden is large, we had a lot of winter kill, I have hostas to remove due to the X virus, I've been edging, and there seem to be quite a few weeds. Hoping to get things under control soon! Hugs, Beth
ReplyDeleteSuch a loving and eager assistant you have. ;-) I think everyone's been busy. My issue has been doctor visit, MRI to see why everything hurts, diagnosis today of bulging disc, and that means I really need to stop blogging for a while. And even now it's sporadic because I can only sit a few minutes without everything hurting. whine whine whine. Oh well. You did ask, after all. :-)
ReplyDeleteI traveled from NC to TN today to visit previous neighbors. I will be posting about it soon.
ReplyDeleteYup, to all of the above. :-) Blogging fatigue and gardening mostly for me. I was gone all day for a garden writers event which was a couple of hours drive away and here I am finally getting around to reading a few blogs.
ReplyDeleteI better leave myself a note to do a post for the photo challenge, thanks for the reminder.
I, too, have noticed a season of quiet. For myself, the days have been full. (How can things be busier when we're on our summer break than when we're schooling?! I'm not sure, but we're having fun anyway!) Blog writing kind of ebbs and flows...one week I'm posting a bunch, the next a couple of mini posts. And then sometimes I comment up a storm, and sometimes I just sneak in and read and am off again. Ebb and flow.
ReplyDeleteNow, I must add my own opinion about your photo. I love it! You look so young...and adorable. Yes, you do!
It has been a bit quiet in blogdom. I think people are out enjoying the warm air after our horrible winter. Some of the bloggers I used to follow are not around at all anymore-even the gardening ones. Kind of sad. They say blogging is dying out and being taken over with Instagram and Pinterest and Facebook......I hope not. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLovely snap of you Vee - I agree with whoever said you look so young, and that gorgeous hair (i've heard you complain about - it looks lovely)!
ReplyDeleteI've been working lots and just too darn tired at night to comment - my brain goes in to neutral once I get home! But I've still popped in to see a few and left a comment here and there.
It's winter here now, very dreary days, We had a storm this week but it was during the night and I'm not one to sit at the window with camera in hand waiting for the lightening!
I'll see you at Donna's tomorrow!
This blogger is at the hospital ER, waiting for about 6 more hours for a room for DH. I may miss my own photo challenge at the rate things are going. Infection, maybe more.
ReplyDeleteDon't you worry about a thing. We'll keep each other company while you're tending to Mr. Jim. Praying...
DeleteI have actually wondered a bit of the same. I know for me, I am turning in more than one direction right now. I have workmen all over the place with an outside job, and it is driving me crazy. I have a daughter home right now prayerfully seeking her first job. I have a 90% finished home project that I'm trying to finish in the middle of it all. And then, there's the heat. I am just so tired all the time that though I come to the computer, I just sort of stare at it.
ReplyDeleteSomething's got to give.
I wish someone could come up with a challenge that would jump start all my favorite quiet bloggers. I love blogging and hate to see it not as active.
I know my blogging has slowed down due to my computer needing a good tune up. The Google + thing has nixed being able to post photos from Picasa, now I have to load the photos first into web albums and then select them. I see other folks complaining about that so it isn't just me.
ReplyDeleteI also think quieter folks have retreated from sharing their world while more outspoken folks (like me) are engaging in Facebook conversations. I too miss a daily blog post from friends and their comments...blogging feels like conversations over the back fence; FB feels more like coffeehouse banter, less personal life, more thinking and debating.
Yep, I think blogging takes a back seat, especially in the summer months. It's so hard to keep up. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the guilty ones for being gone. I can't tell you how many times I did sit down to do a post or to read some blogs and I would just close my lap top up and either head outside to do yard work or head down to my sewing room. Tho I sure didn't get too much done in the sewing room other than rearranging piles around to make it look like I actually did some organizing in there. Maybe I'm getting burnt out I'm really not sure, tho I sure do miss blogging at times when I've been MIA.
ReplyDeleteFar too many thins to list plus not being able to get into my blog because of Google playing nasty games. Do they know the agony they put people through!
ReplyDelete
