~this is a trick photo*~
Have I ever shared my #1 prompt for tweaking a vignette or cleaning a cluttered corner? I have? Thought so! In case you're new or that you don't hang on my every word, I'll just restate it: I look at whatever is bugging me and ask myself why specifically it is an annoyance.
So let's take the latest disaster. It was really annoying. I think you'll be able to see why immediately. You would never allow this in your home!
~tweak me please~
It is a horrible thing to confess that my bay window had become a clutter pile. I'm so ashamed. I've even had an inspiration picture in my folder at Pinterest for some time now. And that inspiration window is most likely the same make and model as my own.
~tweak me, too!~
Am I being ganged up on or what?! Okay, better hustle with this...
Too dark? Yes, I think so...
Coloring rather strange? True!
Still it is the best that I can do without going shopping. And now, while I don't necessarily smile, at least, I don't cringe. My Evolution of the Light window: candles, gas oil lamp, and electric lamp, too.
And it looks so cozy in the evening...
At least, I think so even with the reflections and odd perspective.
~What about me?~
Yikes! I gotta get outta here.
* Why is it a trick photo? Because you'd never have visited me today based on the second photo. Am I right?
I like the new arrangement on the bay window. It looks very nice!
ReplyDeleteI like seeing the process of editing photos, and editing areas of our houses that have become too cluttered for our own tastes. I love what you've done with this window, light sources, and a homey, welcoming feeling!
ReplyDeleteI need to play with editing more. I'm certain you cringe when we see some of my photos that I put up on the blog! :) That's why I am friends with so many talented photographers! I learn, glean, steal ideas from them!
Have a wonderful June day!
Deanna
Nope. I do not cringe at Creekside Cottage! Only here at Haven.
DeleteI have several Cardinal T-shirts and I really admire your grandson's loyalty to the best team. Who is his favorite player? Tell him my favorite is Michael Wacha, I just love the name for one thing. LOL
ReplyDeleteSam's favorite player isYadiar Molina. (He thinks this is how it is spelled.) He also likes Michael Wacha.
DeleteYadier Molina...
DeleteLOL- Oh-yeah- We ALL have an area (or two or three) like that, Judy! The piano reminds me of the one we had at our house when I was a kid. It was the place my mother put EVERYTHING...lol.
ReplyDeleteYour WINDOW OF LIGHT looks beautiful. I bet it is gorgeous at night- all lit up.
Hope you have a good day- at least you can enjoy looking out your window-xo Diana
I had to giggle, I share your thoughts on decluttering, picture taking etc. No matter what photos you post, I love them..even your "clutter". ---Oh, and I wanted to comment on the Cain & Able issue..we had the same issue, and sometimes, even now, the 17 yr old would make a comment. SO, in a nutshell, it is not uncommon even for us adults to understand why. Blessings
ReplyDeleteGrinning about the trick photo. Actually, though, I would have visited you with the second one. I have yet to visit this blog and leave without being glad I came so I would have wanted to know what was up with the second one.
ReplyDeleteAnd while we're on the "actuallies",
Actually, I don't think I have heard your method of fixing a vignette. Either I post date it or maybe I don't hang on your every word after all. Say it isn't so!
I like the method, and I love your tweaks. I also love what you said about maybe not smiling, but not shuddering either. Perfect description of my home these days. I just keep humming the song "He's still working on me" when I go about the place. True story.
Well goodness knows I can certainly totally relate to all of this! lol LOVE your final arranged window scene. LOVE the light! Everything about it is cozy and welcoming. I should show you some of mine! lol Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteDon't we all find a spot to clutter, Vee? I use my bar stools to clutter up! Your tweaking of the bay window sure looks beautiful in my book and all by shopping the house. I especially love the evening glow. Thanks for the inspiration. xo
ReplyDeleteYour trick photo is catchy, but I love visiting here every day!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny...I grinned my way through this post! :D
ReplyDeleteYour tweaked window does look cozy! Don't we all have to tweak areas now and then? (I think so!)
You are cracking me up. I love a good trick photo. The only thing I have in front of my windows are sofas. I did enjoy your tweaks!
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute, Vee! I like your tweaks!
ReplyDeleteNaw, I would have come by. But your ladies are beautiful in the first picture. And your window cleaned up well. I love a bay window. And what a pretty view yours has.
ReplyDeleteLOL!! Well, I would visit you no matter the photo, but I love your vignette you created in your bay window. Gathering things in baskets make me happy!
ReplyDeleteAw Vee - you are too funny!! You have also inspired me to tweak a few corners around here too - eek! You did a great job by the way. I love your trick photo - Irises - the Queens of the garden around here too right now but oh the beautiful purple columbine!! I must find that colour - it's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh...the lamp is just the perfect thing! I have many little dark corners in my house too since I live in the woods. I am also a collector of little lamps...love them. Isn't it amazing the difference a little light can make?
ReplyDeleteYou saw and shared the light! Great transformation.
ReplyDeleteSee...that's where you're wrong. I would have visited you no matter what the photo! lol And you are right...the night time view makes it work so well. I love pretty lamps and lights on in the evenings. I still have some colored lights around a basket that come on with a timer in the evenings. They are NOT Christmas lights....really they're not! hahaha! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteYour bay windows looks great, in the dark, in the light, any way you do it Vee, because it's YOU! Yes, i would have visited. I have the green book on your piano. We could skype sometime and do a duet, haha. Love love the iris' in the first photo. ~ Abby
ReplyDeleteLavender Dreamer says it well - I'd still visit you without the trick photo, pretty as it is. Lamps and candles at night are just as pretty in the summer as in the winter. I like your window arrangement. Tweaking is all a part of housekeeping - I might NOT visit someone whose home never needed tweaking.
ReplyDeleteYou know I come to visit regardless, but you had me going with the irises. You've created a good teaching theme for the grands with your evolution display. For me, the dining room table is the catch-all but I've cleaned everything up today and the house is spotless. Haha, wonder if I'll see the floor mop and dust rag again before September? LOL
ReplyDeleteHahahaha. There is a reason I don't take panoramic photos and instead usually do detail shots. If I zoomed out, it would terrify everyone and they'd call 'Hoarders.' LOL Okay, maybe not quite, but like a good friend of mine once said about herself, 'Good thing my children weren't born with flat heads or they'd have stacks of things sitting on them too.' That's kinda me too.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I do love the photos. Nice job!
Oh, YES, I would!!! I love the new lighted window! I love all things cozy and that's what it is - cozy!! I'm tuned in for the next post! I am in awe of Judith @ Lavender Cottage! I will never have my entire house spotless!! It all gets cleaned at least once a year but never all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful irises and columbines! I love what you did with the window! No more tsk-tsk :)
ReplyDeleteWindow looks very nice. : ) Funny, I just cleared out my bay window too!! I made mine simple - a lace doily with my white swan sitting in the middle.
ReplyDeleteI love the changes in the bay. It's especially charming at dark with the warm glow of the light. Wish you were here to help me with all my bad areas!
ReplyDeleteThe iris photo is gorgeous.
you are funny Vee! I'm like Cranberry Morning. I go for the closeup shots so the messes don't show! I like what you did, and shopping your home too.
ReplyDeleteYou do make me smile Vee, I like what you did with the bay window...your view is pretty too.
ReplyDeleteHI VEE! I finally made it over for a visit. I haven't been blogging for awhile and of course I would have kept reading when I saw the second picture. I think your window looks warm and homey and very cozy! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm coming back too! :):) Beautiful colors. I love rich colors. Yes, all year round!
The evening photo is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThe symbolism of a light left in a window makes for such a homey feel!
I love the night time photo--a light in the window is always so warm and welcoming. I miss the big bay window I had in Brooklyn. It was filled with plants and usually my cat. The house I'm in now has lots of windows but all are flat windows--none with much of a sill. Been busy with the grandkids the past week--lots of babysitting and the bay has slept over twice this week as my SIL is away and my daughter gets up so early for work it is easier to ahve the baby sleep here--busy, exhausting, but fun times!
ReplyDeleteI love peeking into windows any which way...so you don't need to trick me! But thanks for passing along your tricks and tweaks.
ReplyDeleteThe bay window really tweaked up nicely! And yes, I would have visited. It's those too perfect homes that I sometimes stay away from! :)
ReplyDeleteI reckon you've done a very good job. The evening shot looks perfect and very cosy indeed. I sometimes procrastinate and leave things till weekend. But can be annoying to see.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week
Aida
Oh, you've been re-decorating and I think it looks so pretty and welcoming day or night. And, I'd be visiting no matter what photo was at the top. I actually didn't even get to my blog or visiting yesterday so missed this until I went looking for it this morning. Now I have to scroll up and see your post for today. You're on a roll Vee!
ReplyDeleteahhh, I love your bay...it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI really don't look at the photos to decide who to visit, well, especially with my regular friends :>) Clutter? my number one problem, I intend to spend the summer cleaning out everything I don't L♥VE, most of it came from garage sales and thrift stores anyway so it's no big investment, I've already taken 4 boxes to Salvation Army, don't you think they should give us a discount coupon when we do that? I do! I still have about 10 boxes of clutter to go....*sigh*
ReplyDeleteYour window looks lovely by the way ;>)
That looks so pretty! I love the oil lamp with the doily underneath. I keep a lovely red oil lamp for emergencies but I think I'll bring it and put it on my dining room china cabinet.
ReplyDeleteYour iris are so pretty! Love the vignette in your window ... the shells look lovely in the basket!
ReplyDeleteI love, love your sense of humor Vee - just what I need after sitting in traffic on the motorway on my way home from work! I'm mad I know but I just have to keep doing it to save the pennies to visit my darling grandies next year!
ReplyDeleteI do lots of 'trick photography' in my posts - especially the ones when I do a 'photo shoot' in my lounge that's too full of clutter. I shove bits and bobs everywhere out of sight - when my husband comes home in the middle of it he asks "what's going on here - is the Queen on her way?"
Your window seat looks lovely to me and especially the reflection in the window shot.
Thank you for brightening up my day dear Vee!
Browsing through I can see how much you like arranging things.
