First Advent Sunday

But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. ~Galatians 4:4–5
Fullness of time — what a concept! One could chew on that for a good long while.

We are entering another Advent season where we ponder what such things mean.

I think about this verse and attempt to rephrase it in a way that I can understand...That God sent His Son, whose mother was Mary, made under The Law — The Ten Commandments, etc., (God's people wanted lots of laws — that did nothing to save them, but did everything to let them know that they were without hope in and of themselves.) That God sent His Son to rescue or buy back everyone who was under that law so that Gentiles could be adopted into God's family.

Right...it is a lot to pONdEr

I have noticed as I grow older and time is winging by that I spend more and more time looking forward to Christ's Second Advent. He came the first time as an infant; the next time He comes to Earth will be as King. My personal opinion is that He is coming soon. Perhaps in a hundred years; perhaps in seven!

One thing is certain: what we see now is a poor reflection of what will be then.

Many happy ponderings to you this blessed Christmas season.
