I thank God for Christmas. Would that it lasted all year. For on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, all the world is a better place, and men and women are more lovable. Love itself seeps into every heart, and miracles happen.
~Peter Marshall
~Merry Christmas~
I wish my corner looked this way. Instead, we have the dreaded ice that has coated everything in its path for the past three days. How a thing can simultaneously be so beautiful and so treacherous...
~outside~
~inside~
Yesterday, both grandsons and I played Monopoly for an hour and then the younger divested himself of his monies and holdings. ☺ The elder played on for an additional hour. I have not played Monopoly in nearly thirty years! (And certainly not for that length of time.) Fun times.
It may be that I am over and out for several days. It's not easy playing games, preparing for Christmas, and visiting my Blogdom friends. May your Christmas be merry and blessed!
That was always my complaint about Monopoly. It just lasts so long. And the last time I ever played was when I lost my whole empire to a sneaky competitor across the table. :(
ReplyDeleteMerriest Christmas, Vee....
ReplyDeletexoxo bj
Merry Christmas Vee. Valerie
ReplyDeleteThinking of you, iced covered and stuck inside.............BUT with grandchildren to play with, music to listen to, good things to eat, and loving Christmas thoughts binding all together while the world outside, though treacherous, is a place of pristine beauty. Quietude reigns I'm sure.......the world needs more of that.
ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas to you all - blessings abundant for the coming year dear blog friend.
Mary
Monopoly was never my favourite since it could go on for hours. I'm more of a Scrabble person and can come up with words that don't exist with the best of them! Maybe it's just a senior thing? LOL
ReplyDeleteDo enjoy the next few days with your family, the memories we create with the grands will be something to cherish.
Merry Christmas to you and John.
Judith
Merry Merry Christmas to you and yours. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI still can't adjust to working and all my new transitions, but I wanted to come by and say Merry Christmas. Thanks for your precious supportive words and prayers this year. My blogging friends have walked me through so much. Enjoy those boys. I got to have mine for just a few hours. We too got iced in this year...yes, down here in Texas.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and a very Happy New Year
Vee, I know that ice can certainly dangerous but I would settle for anything white at this moment :) At least our 75+ degree temperatures have dropped into the normal range in just one day's time. Went from A/C to heat on in the same day! Anyway, have a blast with those grandchildren and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThose dreaded ice storms, we get them occasionally here in the Pacific Northwest. They are so beautiful but so destructive too. My prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have the grandsons to play Monopoly with...I haven't played in years either!
Merry Christmas to you and your family! xo
Merry Christmas to you and John and all of your sweet family! Stay safe and warm.....and don't forget....BUY all of the railroads! hahaha! Holiday hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteVee, I woke to a WHITE CHRISTMAS!!! I mean there wasn't a speck of snow, nor was it calling for snow - yet here it is in all its splendor. I am so sorry about your ice, though. Stay safe and snug and have a v ery Merry Christmas being with your sweet loved ones.
ReplyDeleteLove the lighthouse photo! I have visited several lighthouses in Maine. My grandson and I have played Monopoly a few times lately. He always wins.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a Blessed Christmas and a Wonderful New Year! Stay safe and warm
Hugs, Barb
Stopping by this morning to wish you and John a Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to stay inside where it is cozy and avoid the icy conditions.

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family as we celebrate the birth of Christ. . .the greatest gift of all.
ReplyDeleteIt IS fun! Love peeking in at the background in your photo. That star and the corner table - and the lights shining through the window. It just all looks so warm and cozy! I wish I could take a tour!! AND have a cup of coffee with you and John!!
ReplyDeleteWe love a good game of MOnopoly at this house...you should google the story behind the game,,,its quite a good one. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas! Its been fun being at your Notecard parties this year and i look forward to more in the new year.

Merry Christmas blessings to you, sweet friend. May you be surrounded by love and joy. xo
ReplyDeleteI love the way you describe the younger gamer ending his game. I was looking at all the photos of the freezing rain storm and also thought it looked so beautiful even though I know it is so devastating. Praying your power stays on and you all stay cozy warm in the love of your family.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Merry Christmas Vee!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Nadine
Yeah, I remember divesting myself of my money and holdings by simply folding up the board. Made my older brothers furious! lol Have a wonderful and Merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Savior - Jesus - God in flesh appearing - Oh, come let us adore Him!
ReplyDeleteI haven't played Monopoly in years either. Sounds like a fun time. We had ice here but not as bad as other areas although there are thousands in the Fredericton that don't have power. Devastating for all involved and we need to count our blessings. Have a wonderful Christmas! Hugs, Pam
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your loved ones, dear Vee :) And may your New Year be filled with sweet joys and special blessings! Love and hugs
ReplyDeleteI hope you get thru with that nasty weather okay! Merry Christmas, sweetie!

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones Vee. I love playing games with my grands.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteVee, I hope that your icy weather has passed and that warmer days are in your near future! Monopoly is a really long game! :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad that you are somewhere safe and sound (I hope). Monopoly? it's probably been over 15 years for me.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and enjoy all the joys of the season!
xo

It made me happy to read this. Peter Marshall was so right.
ReplyDeleteLoved the peep inside your world. Miss Maine, but don't miss what the cold does to my arthritis!
Love,
Sharon
My grands and I play Monopoly from time to time..either the original version or the new hi-tech cashless version. So this made me smile. Especially that one cashed out early...since I have one of those as well (who finds a game that takes longer than 15 minutes too long)!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping you had a wonderful time with your family these past few days. Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
Vee, it's been many years since I've played Monopoly! I always wanted to be the thimble!
ReplyDeleteA belated Merry Christmas, Vee, and wishing you a very happy and blessed New Year! Hope to be backi soon, my friend. I've got lots of catching up to do!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope the ice has melted by now. We had horrible ice and snow that lasted for a few days and was so hard on the trees. The ice is gone from the trees now, but of course the snow will stay until late March. Thank you so much for stopping in this morning with your encouraging words, Vee. I appreciate them so much. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI like your door and little wreath....very inviting. I'd love to play a game yet over the holidays. Somehow we never did pull any out. I think I might suggest it yet tomorrow at our last family gathering...before we head out for a late Christmas together with our prairie kids....in the cold.
ReplyDeleteIt has been SO long since I've stopped by for a visit with you, but I'm determined to pop in on some dear friends over the Christmas break now and catch up. I have missed you! Your "home" looks different than when I last visited, but it's still beautiful. I would give my eye teeth for the beautiful birch bark candle holders in your header. Please don't tell me they're a dime a dozen where you live! Sounds like you had great fun spending time with your grands, and playing Monopoly over the break. It doesn't get any better than that - I know. I now have a grand of my own. She will be 6 months old on January 3rd. I got to hold her all during church this morning, helping her play quietly on my lap with a crinkly book, then cuddling her as she napped. What a blessing she is to me - and all of my family! Enjoy your days off, and have a wonderful time bringing in the new year. ((Hugs)) to you, my friend! I'm now off to read more of your posts!
ReplyDeleteThey're a dime a dozen on Pinterest! ☺ A new baby in the family? How exciting!
DeleteIt has been so long since I've been by your place for a visit. I'm determined to do more visiting over the Christmas break, and catch up with some dear friends. Your blog looks different than when I visited last. No doubt you've made several creative changes over the months! I love, love, love the little birch bark logs in your header, and would give my eye teeth for some! Please don't tell me they're a dime a dozen in Maine! If they are, I'd gladly trade you for some cornstalks. :) Well, I'm off to read some more of your posts. ((Hugs)) to you, my friend! And happy new year!
ReplyDeleteI hope you and John and your families had a very Merry and Blessed Christmas, Vee! I cooked and cooked and cooked , and then ate and ate and ate for days...lol... but enjoyed every second of it!
ReplyDeleteHappy healthy 2014!
Christmas blessings to you and your family dear Vee.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the monopoly set I thought I had already commented on this post - but I was wrong!
I played monopoly with my grandies when I was in France this year - they love it too!
Games are great for occupying young minds on cold wintry days when they can't get outside!
Happy New Year
love
Shane
Dear Vee Hope you had a beautiful Christmas. I truly agree with your lass statement :)
ReplyDeleteHave not played Monopoly for years. Scrabble is my game. Bought my Scrabble game in 1960 in New York and it is still going strong.
