Sixteen Pounds and What do You Get

Hi Hon! You look like a cricket!

No, seriously, what do you have that thing set on?

Sixteen pounds? Did the doctor say 16 pounds?!

You don't care what he said, do you?!

Right. Bye, hon. I've got a blog to write.

Course it could be worse. Perhaps the next time I see him in that contraption he won't remind me of

he'll remind me of

Disclaimer: Do not try this at home without a doctor's counsel.

Yes, I sourced Google Images for both of these photos and I'm really not concerned. If you are, don't look.

Hurricane Kyle update: It's wreaked a lot of havoc, but by nature a hurricane has about spun out of trouble once it hits cooler waters. I do, however, believe that all five inches of rain that fell in my county are now flowing slowly through my basement. It's every bit as flooded as it had been after a summer of rain. Trying not to grumble too much as so many have had it soooo much worse. See? :D I'm still smiling. Hang in there, New Brunswickers and Nova Scotians!

  1. Oh the pictures and the captions just made me howl with laughter - your poor husband is a great sport, Vee! And believe me, I needed a laugh this morning!
I am so glad you have only got a flooded basement to contend with - I have been thinking about you and that hurricane.

  3. Hmmm, I'm thinking French Drain to save your basement...that or put the Grooms contraption on the low corner of the house and see if it will lift it up! You know, he does resemble Jiminy Cricket...what a cutie!
    hugs!

  4. Oh my Jimminy, he's so cute!! You've got a keeper there, but you knew that. What is that contraption designed to do?

About that hurricane - I was surprised as heck to see that thing heading towards Maine. I just never thought that people in Maine and Nova Scotia would have to worry about that kind of thing. Water in the basement is horrible, horrible. I know from experience. Hope the clean up goes well.

  5. Poor, poor John...are you sure he should really be doing that? I watched Doc Hollywood yesterday...is he seeing a country doctor? LOL it looks painful and uncomfortable! You should have a tea party for him, with girly hats and stuff...LOL

I'm glad to hear you only have water in your basement, is that a good thing? Prayers and hugs to you Vee!

  6. So that's what keeps John occupied while you blog! Interesting...maybe you could sell those things. I'm sure he doesn't find the procedure quite so funny! He's a good sport.

Glad the worst of the storm is over...just keep your rubber boots handy.

  7. Your husband seems to be such a very kind soul with a great sense of humor to match yours. Very funny pictures.
I saw the news this morning and I immediately thought of you and wanted to make sure you are OK. Thank goodness its only a little water. I know its a mess to, but it could have been so much worse.
Take care and since hubby is hanging in there, you keep hanging in there too.
    God bless,
    Shanda

I hope the traction is helping him!

Sorry to hear about your flooding from the hurricaine. Can you imagine if that were snow!? I hope that will be it for the bad weather and hurricaines for this season!

  12. Vee, you totally crack me up and John is such a good sport to give us a chuckle at his painful expense!

  13. Your poor husband. At least I hope he's getting some relief from his cricket gear.

A flooded basement can't be any fun. I hope you get dried out soon.

  14. Hmmm. You know, he does sort of look like Jiminy Cricket with that thing on! lol Too funny. Wonder if something like that would work on my wrinkly neck? LOL

Hope your basement dries out quickly. We don't have basements here. Probably because no machine ever built could dig through this sorry mess they call "dirt" here in Texas. Send me some of that water, though, and I'll soak my plants, eh? :)

  16. So sorry to read of your flooded basement. Not nice to have to clear that up but also glad it is not your main home.

I have never seen a traction like that - I am sure there are such things here, just that Ihave never seen one. I love having my neck stretched. I have a wooden thing that I lie on.

I have added some info. to the rock post. I forget that I have this dear blogging friend whose name begins with V who like all the details.

  17. I definitely see the Jiminy Cricket look -- but you know what this really reminds me of? The Andy Griffith episode where Barney needs to be taller and heavier to pass a physical. The doctor puts him in one of these to help him get taller. If you've never seen this, check it out on YouTube for a smile. I believe the episode is called "Barney's Physical".
