The baking has begun in earnest this morning; although, we were able to get a jumpstart on a few items like this family favorite. I have enjoyed this salad every Thanksgiving and Christmas my entire adult life. One year, I even remember making a hasty call home from Arizona to get the recipe. It wouldn't have seemed like Thanksgiving without it. Is there a dish like that for your family? Tell me!

Happy baking. I'm going to start baking in a couple of minutes.
ReplyDeleteNo special dish here for us. We just like everything!!
Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteHope you and your family have a very happy Thanksgiving, Vee!
Looks yummy! We use an old KY recipe for cranberry relish that is absolutely wonderful. In fact, we have to fix it this afternoon so that it mellows out perfectly for tomorrow's feast! Best wishes for a blessed Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteA very blessed, Happy Thanksgiving to you and all those gathered in your Haven!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Gwen
I am going to make that salad. I have a recipe but it doesn't have the pineapple in it. I sometimes add apples. Happy Thanksgiving to you and family.

Thank you so much, for joining in my Happy Dance, because I found a way to access my Blogger page, to "change my blog look." Thank you!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, don't know if I'd say that Beta was the issue. 'Cause Blogger has been making us use their New Editor, and I HAVE been able to use it, even though I still had old FireFox installed. WHY did I, all of a sudden, not be able to use it???????
I was told that new FireFox was the way to go. But forgot that I'd had trouble upgrading FF, before installing new Mac thingy [Mac OS X 10.5.8]. So I kept thinking I couldn't upgrade FF.
Me? Forget? Me? -chuckle-
Good thing my best pal, remembered. Also good thing he understands a lot of computer-ese and can tell me what to do, about many Net problems, on the phone. :-) 'Cause I'm never gonna' fully master computer-ese! That's for sure! :-)
I can not try to upgrade to the brand new FireFox 4, which is Beta. But I don't even want to! :-)
Leave it to me, to be one, who doesn't like home-made cranberry things. I only like the cans of cranberry sauce, both smooth and chunky. ,-)
ReplyDeleteI was even thinking of bringing my own can. But don't have to! Guess my d-i-law was too busy to make her mother's recipe for a special cranberry sauce thing. 'Cause she wants us to bring the cranberry sauce in cans. :-))))))
Oh and no turkey dinner in this family, would be the same, without 'Uncle A.'s' special Dressing or Stuffin'. He fully cooks it ahead of time. It doesn't go in the bird, till oven is pre-heated and stuffed bird is to be popped right in oven. He's had over 50 years to perfect the recipe. :-)
Enjoy this special Thanksgiving, my Dear Friend!
Oh and don't you have to LOVE my new Icon?!? Isn't that the cutest little "Mrs. Santa" in the world??????? :-))))
ReplyDeleteI put her up, even before Thanksgiving. :-)
Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your special day! ♥ Diane ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteA very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. We do not traditionally celebrate here, but as a family we now do since my son in law and grandaughter are US citizens, each year I find more traditional recipes from over the pond, there are just so many, and some are even just pecular to certain families. Have a great one. Hugs, Margie.

ReplyDeleteMmmmm, I bet your haven smells like heaven right now! We have a family recipe that my dad always made, it is a cranberry relish, both sweet and tart. I used to love cranking the handle of an old meat grinder to grind the cranberries. Hope you Thanksgiving is a happy one!!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds wonderful, Vee. I've already made my cranberry/cherry relish but I'm saving a copy of Aunt Jan's recipe for the future. I love the addition of pecans.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Vee!
My mother-in-law makes a very wonderful cranberry orange relish that I have to sample each year....but her filling/dressing is the best!!! I am looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, dear Vee and family.
