Chickies

Some gals get excited about the real thing. Me? I got so excited about these little chickies you wouldn't believe. They're a gift from my daughter who purchased them nearly a decade ago, tossed them into a drawer, and they just got out yesterday. I think they're happy, too. This is definitely a case of the bottom of the vase being more interesting than the top.

Look at those darling expressions! They really should be careful, though. Every time I walk past, I think that they look good enough to eat.

What's your favorite Easter decoration?

Love Vee

  1. I love anything in a nest, be it eggs or chicks or birds so I guess a nest is my favorite decoration.

    Those little chicks are adorable.

  7. So sweet. I have some of these that I tuck into the centerpiece on the Easter table. My favorite Easter decoration is a "tree" I make with birch branches decorated with tissue paper flowers and beaded eggs - it's a tribute to my Swedish mother in law who made one every year.

  8. The chickees are adorable, almost look real. My "grands" would love them. I actually don't have any Easter decorations out, will probably do something springy before Sunday when everybody comes for dinner. ~ Abby

    A cloud, and a rainbow's warning,
    Suddenly sunshine and perfect blue--
An April day in the morning.”

  15. Those remind me of the little chicks I used to get in my Easter Basket only mine had little feathers for wings and tail, so adorable!

I am slightly partial to rabbits as Easter Decor.

    What a sunny happy display.

  16. The chicks look as if they were just removed from the package! What a lovely vase. Do you know the maker? It's so perfect for the Easter/spring season.

My favorite Easter decoration ~ they're all in our storage unit and I've almost forgotten what I have. One thing is a yellow vase that I fill with artificial daffodils.

  17. Very cute...your 'almost real' chicks! Now have have me thinking...what Easter decorations do I have? I must go un-pack what is there and pick a winner! It's time.

  18. Those chicks are oh-so-cute! They make me smile! :D

My favorite Easter decoration? I suppose that they are the simple tags that I made for the front and back door wreaths. One says, "He lives!" The other says, "He is risen!" I like them because they point to the true reason for our celebration.

But I do so love my vintage metal egg basket too!

  19. These little chickies are adorable! What a cute idea to group them together. I also love the sweet vase and the glass door knobs. I guess I like bunnies at Easter but there are a couple of chicks hanging around too. Have a beautiful day Vee!

  21. I love your little chickies...at first glance they almost look real!

I'm like my Mom in that I definitely gravitate towards bunnies for Easter

I like chicks and bunnies and peeps..all Spring and Easter cheerfulness. I also love my wooden Ukrainian pysanky eggs that remind me of my grandmother.

  22. That's such a sweet vase and the chicks are darling. Once while teaching grade six, I had an incubator set up at the back pof the classroom and knew the chicks were due to hatch over the weekend. Luckily I was at the school doing some work when they hatched so I was able to describe it to the students the next day. I always enjoy putting out the Ukrainian eggs I did with my children when they were small.

  23. Your little chickies make me smile real big! I think my favorite decoration is my paska bread as a centerpiece on Easter grass with colored eggs around it...

  24. I love 'em too! I keep one of these little sweeties up next to my granddaughter's toothbrush. We laugh whenever we reach into the cupboard.

Honey, our clay is SO bad here, and this is the truth, that the house moves slightly, and sometimes the plaster cracks. The shrink swell factor is SO bad that your DH could come in here with a disc on a tractor and not get anywhere at all.

I am a patient gardener. I'll keep working at it. Thank goodness for container gardening.

    Love,

  26. Sweet chicks, quiet and clean, too, I imagine.

I just found the small shoebox with a few Easter decorations over the weekend and haven't put them up yet. Hopefully this week (well yeah, or I might as well forget it.)

  27. I want your chickies!
My mom and I decorated ceramic eggs one year and the along with a ceramic lamb and cross are my favorite decorations. Always think the decorations should go up on Easter as celebration, and stay up during the season...but may jump the gun and decorate early.

  41. Oh so cute. Every year I buy an Easter Lily. I love the fragrance as much for itself as for the memory of my mom. My Dad never failed to bring her an Easter Lily.

So glad your daughter found them for you. Isn't it neat how joy can be found in the smallest of things?

  44. Soo sweet - I've been looking for vintage ones like these.

My favorite decoration is a little bunny that Flyboy made form my Gram when he was in 3rd grade. I always put it on the kitchen window above the sink so that I can see it while I wash dishes.
