A Little Discussion

More Paska baking today and yard clean-up. Plus my darling made me a handy-dandy trash picker-upper and now when I go walking, I can also do a bit of cleaning up. I have grumbled so about the litter along the sides of the road that I feel compelled to change it. Easy enough with this little tool. Lady Bird Johnson had one of the best and most meaningful projects ever when she was the First Lady: Keep America Beautiful. It worked for a long, long time and how I wish that we could get back to that ideal.

***
Oh, nearly forgot this resource I found yesterday for meaningful things to do with children at Easter time. Thanks, Deanna, for mentioning the Empty Tomb Garden because it made me so curious I had to Google. I found one at Happy Home Fairy right *here.* (This blogger's family just welcomed a new bunny to the nest. I was so surprised to see that this morning.) Anyway, check out her sidebar as there are lots of neat and meaningful projects for children.

So this is where I leave you until sometime next week. (I think.) Have a truly blessed Easter.

  1. Good morning! I really appreciate all the information on blogger. I don't how it is I move along soo oblivious to everything going on, but I do. This was all good to know. Also, it is a wonderful idea for Easter projects with kids. I love it. I will pass this idea on to my dil's. May you have a wonderfully glorious Easter Day! HUGS

  2. I don't like change....I will not change! Seriously, why? what's wrong with blogger the way it is? Anyway, yard work seems to be the thing to do right now. We all seem to be experiencing some sort of decent earlier then expected weather. I have been playing around with my porch and different areas in our yard. Can't wait for the mornings I can sit out and enjoy my first cup of coffee. Have a wonderful Easter Vee!

  3. I'm with Debbie...... I'm oblivious! Honestly, I haven't been spending enough time on my Blogger dashboard to even realize there are changes coming. I'm a testament to the fact that change gets harder and harder the older you get.

  4. I can't offer a knowledgeable opinion about the new interface, because I am one of those resistant-to-change people who will not change until I am forced to change. (Can't they just allow the over-50 crowd to keep what they have? ~wink~)

Blessed Resurrection Day to you and yours, Vee!

  5. Thank you for the info on blogger, I don't know what I will do when the platform is updated. I am not posting very often, it may be the deciding factor as to whether I continue to blog or not.

And, the name of the paint we used on our main floor was CIL Cityscape, purchased at Home Depot. Sorry it took so long to get it to you, I lost the chip, and the can only had the numbers on it!

    Have a blessed Easter, Vee.
    hugs,
    Niki

  6. I haven't cleaned along the sides of the road this year, but yesterday I went out to the field in back and picked up all the cans, bottles and trash. The kitchen trash bag I took with me was full. I see other people walking and picking up trash so there are still a lot of caring people.

Got to go check out the info link for the new blogger interface.

  7. well...I guess I'm the odd duck here. I don't always mind change ...especially if it makes things run smoother. I have been on the new interface for quite some time and don't mind it at all.
I have noticed that they are connecting the dots....but then I like to do that anyways.

See you sometime next week! Have a blessed Easter.

  8. Thank you for that helpful link, Vee. I don't know what I'll do as I'm not at all tech savvy and have a hard enough time with Blogger as it is.
I wish you and your family a Happy, Blessed Easter.

  9. Talking about picking up garbage..a friend and I always took bags along on our walks and would pick up garbage on the roads and ditches.
I'm also happy to say that our city has a 'garbage pick up day' in April when people from the churches and others gather, get their appointed sections of the city and by the end of the day we have a super clean city!

I'm not sure I like all the changes that happen with blogger or facebook..I wait to learn it only when I have to:)

    A blessed Easter to you!

  10. The garden tomb project is fantastic! I like spring decorations but they tend to fog up the Resurrection Day meaning. This project is pretty and meaningful. Thanks for the hint!

  11. I tried the new blogger...and switched back the following day. Now I will deal with it when I must! I'm not always gung-ho about learning the new.

Hubby is the garbage picker-upper around here. He thinks I should carry a bag when I walk. I've mostly walked on the treadmill over the winter...where no bag is needed!

Have a blessed Easter, Vee & John!

  12. For what it's worth, I have only been blogging a few months and have been on the new interface the whole time (just didn't know it, and wondered what everyone was talking about :). I really haven't had any problems, although I don't have the old one to compare it to. Everything so far has worked fine.

  13. Oh fun, a trash picker upper. Enjoy!
I'm impressed that you make daily paska. It's daunting enough for me to make it once a year. Maybe if I made it more often it wouldn't be daunting...hmmm....

  14. I hate change and pretty much agree with everything the other Cheryl said. I will see what happens, I don't really want to go somewhere else.

Here's wishing you, John and family a wonderful and blessed Easter!

  15. I switched to the new interface a few weeks ago. It's okay, but I have been thinking of switching to WordPress due to some privacy issues that I have read about with google....

    Still thinking about it.

I am excited to make the Empty Tomb Garden with the kids - I think they'll love it! And it will be so meaningful!

  16. Actually I've been using the new blogger interface for a while now and find nothing wrong with it and have no complaints. It is just different.

I've been known to pick of a bag or two of trash also.

Happy Easter to you and John.

  17. I'm not sure about all of the changes either, but I guess I'll go with the flow until I get ticked off. =) I like the new interface ok. I've only been using it for a week, so I am trying to decide.
Since we moved I have picked up quite a bit of trash. Our new neighborhood, while quite lovely and nice, is full of irresponsible teenagers who love to litter. UGH.
    Oh well.

Happy Easter to you dear Vee!

  18. I guess I need to do some reading....thanks for the heads up. I've been in my own little world over here.

  19. Hi Vee,

I have been using the new interface for a while now. I like that you can share not only posts that you have written but that of others too on Google+, which appears on your profile when people click on there.

I have had a link on my sidebar for dynamic view Magazine view for a long time. You don't have to use a different view if you don't want to.

I signed up as soon as they made it available so that I could see if I liked it before they changed over completely. I have to think through the pros and cons. Change is always hard.

    Anyway, have a great Easter.

  20. Oh Vee, Blogger is really annoying me to no end. I will check out your link. I hope you have a very happy and blessed Easter weekend. xo

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hopefully, they won't make us switch if we don't want to!

    Happy Easter, Vee!

    ReplyDelete
  22. It takes me awhile to get used to new things so I made the switch awhile ago.

I'm used to it now but it took awhile. I have to admit it is actually easy once you get used to it (but that DOES take awhile).

    ReplyDelete
  23. I admit...I am sticking my head in the sand and hoping it will all go away...until then...
    Happy Easter!

  24. I changed a few weeks ago - but not really sure how I like it. It seems a little easier to me to re-size photo's and such, but I don't use the HTML so who knows.

I'll have to bookmark the link and read it later. So much to do tonight. I have off tomorrow and Monday - yeah!

Happy Easter Vee - Enjoy God's blessings.

  25. I looked at it and didn't see what was so bad, but I think I'll try it with my "trial blog" to see what you're talking about. Thanks for the heads up and the link to the garden tomb. Wonderful idea.

  26. Vee,
I didn't like it at first and still need to get used to it. But what I was worried about, and maybe what concerned you as well, was that I thought this would force me to have to change my blog to dynamic views or some other format that would delete my blog design or others. I love visiting people's blogs and enjoying the art and creativity behind them.

Fortunately, this new change will not be forcing us to do that-it only changes how we post to our blogs and how our blog reader and stats look! That is good news for me.

One big positive is the new way we get to write and edit posts. The area is now much larger and I find I don't have to hunch over to do my writing.

Just as long as the dynamic views and other annoying, impersonal templates do not become necessary, it might not be so bad:)

Have a blessed and joy-filled Easter, Vee!

  27. I switched over to the new interface last fall, I think. I've grown to like it, actually. Though I have had to switch back to the old interface a couple of times because there are a few controls missing on the new interface. Composing a post is infinitely easier, which was a relief to me because I was sorely missing not being able to use Live Writer anymore with my Mac.

When blogger was having all the magic problems last year, I think in April/May, I duplicated my blog over on to WordPress. I haven't kept it up since then. But I have my domain name reserved, just in case I ever want to bail out from Google world. I see several pro photographers have gotten into Google+, but it just looks like a glorified Facebook to me. So far, it hasn't enticed me.

  28. Oh, my. I use Gmail at work and I have resisted the invitation to upgrade to the new email and Google docs, all the while holding my breath, hoping today won't be the day they make me change. I had been keeping my head in the sand on the Blogger issue, as well. I wonder how much longer I can ignore Google's push to make me do things differently. Sigh.

    Have a wonderful Easter!

  29. OMYGOSH...are they gonna MAKE us change? Some changes I like...I LOVE the NEW EDITOR for posting....not liking having to change from Picknik to PicMonkey but then, everyone says change is good. It's just that I am olden and slow and by the time I get the new stuff figured out, they change it again.

And, I tried to comment on PixMuse and it says I can't because I don't "belong" to something or other. GOOD GRIEF...I am going to bed.

  30. I have been too busy lately to check out the new blogger business but I hope it won't also make me unhappy, Vee. I like the challenge of change and learning new things and I love blogging but I don't need more stress right now.

I hope you and your family have a very Happy and Blessed Easter!

  31. I guess I'm going to have to see what this new interface is all about... sigh. Might as well bite the bullet and just switch over and get get used to it. :(

    ((Hugs))

    P.S. Happy Easter!!

  32. Well you truly must dislike it if you're thinking of changing platforms!

There are lots of changes with Google products - I don't know what they're up to - but I think they're up to something! :)

    Have a wonderful Easter!

  33. Okay... Since I am a new blogger, I was on the new interface and didn't have any idea there was an old one. I switched to the old one and found a much friendlier dashboard but not as nice to look at. Personally I think this is much better than stupid facebook.
Still have to take the time to personalize this thing. My page is a bit gloomy, but I like dark colors. Happy Easter!

  34. Try as I might to take a blog break ...
Changes to Blogger give me the willies, so I am sticking my head in the sand and hoping nothing changes.
I do remember Lady Bird's Keep American Beautiful campaign and agree that we should get back to that and stay there. I despise litter and can't understand how people can just throw stuff on the ground.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend and wish you a Happy and Blessed Easter.

  35. nice post thanks for sharing...looking for to visit more...blessings...

  36. The litterbug situation along the road in front of my house upsets me to no end. I should also just start cleaning it up myself. No one else is going to do it. Maybe if they see me out there with trash bags, it might tweak their conscious enough to stop. Yes, and donkeys fly, I know!
Happy Easter to you and your family!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have no idea whateveryone is talking about. How will I know if they "move me over"? What changes will be evident? I guess I will just see what happens when it happens.

  38. well, blogger will sure miss you here! you
must be there most popular site. grrr.
as always, you are paving the way for the
    rest of us.

i loved your comment at my place, "it was
Christ's love that kept him on the cross."

  39. I'm with everyone else. One of the "don't want to change" people. If it gets any more difficult, I'll have to reconsider blogging. Too much time involved!
Hope you enjoyed your Easter with family and friends!
    Blessings,
    Tammy

  40. Yes to the Litter Bug campaign and good for you to support it! I have been so absent from blog land I don't even know about the new interface. I will go give it a good check out and that idea on the garden empty tomb. I love that you keep me in the know with all the latest in blog land. Hope you had a wonderful Easter friend. We had a little blessing that came our way =)
