Thinking Like a Kid

It's been awhile since last I enjoyed a Nonni Day. By the time you're reading this, we'll have picked up Sam and be off having breakfast at our Eggsceptionally Good Breakfast Nook. I'm thinking Eggs Benedict for a change. John will have two double yolkers, two pieces of toast, hash browns, and sausage. The coffee will flow. (Sam will have a chocolate chip pancake and a glass of juice. Of this, I'm fairly certain.)

It was lovely meeting new bloggers yesterday and looking at wonderful photos and hearing from several that this challenge makes them want to take better pictures. Me, too! (Next month's party is May 16th.)

Yesterday, John's sister blessed him with a little photo of his former self. Gosh, he's so cute I want to kiss him!

When you see photos like this do you wonder whatever became of the little guy? What did he grow up to become? Wonder no more...

Then and Now

Not many little boys grow up to be reindeer! (You just know that I'll be sharing this with Sam!)

(Many thanks to Picnik for all the fun I've been having lately. It'll be missed.)

Do you have a childhood photo of your beloved?

  2. Grandsons named Sam are simply the best, aren't they?? Of course the rest of them are pretty wonderful as well :)

I do have a childhood (actually toddler) picture of my Rob, and he is a cutie...just like now.

I will try to get in on the next card party, a wonderful idea!

    Have a great day,
    Niki

  4. How cute! I don't think little boys ever truly grow up. They actually become a little sillier as time goes by. Pictures form Audley's childhood are precious treasures to me. I know you are loving your Nonni time. =) Have a wonderful day!

  6. Cute pic- I have one of my dad with those suspenders holding up short pants- he must have been all of 5. I treasure it and I am sure you treasure this one. I've got a fun day with grand kiddos planned too- my oldest is getting inducted into Beta club and we are going to take her and her siblings to town after school Your note card party is causing me to think more about my photography and to try to take better photos- thanks for the inspiration!

  9. I really enjoyed the party yesterday Vee, I too met some wonderful ladies. John is so cute, then and now! I indeed have some old photos of Mr. P and what a cutie he was too. Enjoy this special day, making memories that Sam will take with him as he embarks on this adventure known as life. Praying for Sam as he continues to heals.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  10. What a cute photo of a cute guy.

Yes, I have some great photos of the Farmer when he was a kid. Most of them involve him giving sly looks, like he's up to something. I'm SURE he was. HA.

I'm with "Auntie". The Blogger platform, or whatever they're calling it is AWFUL. Horrid, terrible and a hot mess.

  12. I love what you did with the childhood picture and the "now" one. I need to do that with one of my DH's. John must have been very pleased.

Hope to hear (read) more - and see pictures - about this morning's breakfast with two of your favorite guys.

  15. Yes I do....I have several but in our bedroom I have two antique frames, one with a childhood pic of me and one of him. But my favorite of him is when he was about 4 or 5 and a pony came to the neighborhood and they took pics...it is sooo cute!
I don't have a pic of my honey with reindeer ears though!

  16. Vee,
Yes, I do. And since I didn't know him until he was in his late 40's, it makes it harder to see the little boy in the man. (Aside from behavior-wise sometimes!)
The party yesterday was great fun! Thinking ahead to next month! It's also great that it is monthly rather than weekly..have a lovely day!

I enjoyed your 2nd note card party. So much fun to meet new people and enjoy the beautiful photography as well.
I do have a few little boy pictures of my beloved and treasure them. I had one of myself on the blog for a few hours today, but had a change of heart and it has now been deleted.

  24. I'm smiling...at your photo fun! And yes...I do have an adorable childhood photo of my beloved as well. Mine never grew up to be a reindeer...though he has been many other things.

Is your Nonni day over by now? Did he have the chcoalte chip pancakes? I have had Grammy day since yesterday morning...and it just came to an end. I'm thinking a nap might be in order!

  26. Hi Vee!

I love the old . . . and new photo! I just love old photos in general, today's cameras are wonderful, but there's just somethings about old cameras and photos!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day!

  27. Nonni days like yours sound like a lot of fun. It's a Nana day here and the Little Miss is napping while rain falls outside.

I love the photo of John now and then. Who knew he'd grow up to be a reindeer?

I do have a couple of photos of my own beloved as a child. I'll have to hunt them up. I've been thinking about putting more family history on the blog.

Your card party was a resounding success, Vee. Thank you so much for hosting. I still have to make my rounds to the more recent half of the links.

  28. Too cute! I can just imagine the delightful breakfast you three had. I can't wait for May and a chance for two weeks worth of Nana days.
I have lots of pictures of The Great Dane as a child because he was an 'only' and the for a long time the only grandchild too. He was a cutie!

  29. Oh, I hope your day was "grand" from start to finish. Sounds like a delightful start!

Thanks so much for hosting the Note Card party yesterday. Again, it was lots of fun. And I'm already thinking ahead to May...

John's pictures of then and now are so sweet! You did a great job of putting them together in Picnick. Alas, Picnick. :-(

I do have some boyhood pictures of my beloved. In fact, there is a baby picture of Ron hanging on our bedroom wall. He was so cute! (I shared some of these photos on his birthday a few couple of years ago. They're here if you're curious...http://thinking-about-home.blogspot.com/2010/08/grow-old-along-with-me.html.)

  33. I almost missed this post and seeing these cute photos of John!

I only have one photo of my hubby wheh he was growing up in Italy. His family was too poor to have a camera or pay for photos, so his passport photo is it. When they came to the US his relatives here took some photod of them on special occasions and then they eventually did get a camera. I wish I knew what he looked like as a baby!

  35. Try PicMonkey as a substitute, I too am going to miss Picnik! I do however really appreciate the fact that they refunded my fees!!! That was unexpected!

I'm on a mission to take more pictures so maybe i'll have something to submit next month.
