Feeling Pretty Special

I was visiting Susan at Savoring Time in the Kitchen and noticed a lovely wineglass featured, mentioned it, and next thing I know, I was contacted by Wine Enthusiast being asked if I'd be interested in receiving a set of four wine glasses.

Me? The least likely, but here I am trying my best to make it work. My husband said, "But we don't drink wine." No, no we don't, but we drink juice, and water, and ice tea, and ever so many other things. What a lovely item to add to the table.

Now there is a reason why I rarely do tablescapes and I'm going to show you...

No chargers, no napkins, no food! Okay, let's try again...

Still?! Where's the blue fairy when you need her? What I do have is a beautiful set of four elegant pieces of stemware. I love the little crystal clear ping they make when I flick them just lightly. I promise to take good care of them and I thank Wine Enthusiast for the gift. I've not been able to figure out exactly which glasses I received, if you do, please let me know!

***

All of these delights arrived in the middle of the snowstorm. They're from BJ at Sweet Nothings with a little note saying that my apothecary jar needed filling. It has taken John two days to know that there are Hershey kisses in the house. =D Our little dip packages are waiting for a day when we feel like being kids again. I love the little birdies candle holder...she even included the battery-operated candle! And who doesn't need a grocery list for the refrigerator door?

~Befores and After~

Looking at these befores and after, I do believe that BJ has a point. As you can see, I filled'er right to the tippy top.

I'm saving these for summer... Yes! BJ sent me a lot!  I can trade them in and out. I think that she'll be happy to know that I retired all the Christmas and Valentines cupcake liners until December.

Thanks so much, BJ, you made me feel pretty special. (John thinks this ought to mean cupcakes. Silly boy!)

So if you need to fill a jar with something, copy BJ. She does it like no other! A happy weekend to you...

  1. Your wine glasses are great. Yes I love a good ping. You will fill them with lovely shades of various drinks, light a candle and sip slowly, for half of the pleasure of a nice drink is the vessel you are drinking from.

I noticed those cupcake holders in your jar the other day and thought so cute--they have such delightful ones now. Looks very springy.

  2. My hubby has radar for discovering hidden chocolate! He's worse than me, especially when it comes to those malted milk balls! I have to fix an Easter basket just for him!
Love your header--it is so cozy and inviting! Northern Arkansas had snow last night! We are experiencing a cold, dreary rain! Not all what I had hoped for on Spring Break, but it's forced me to work indoors and there is plenty to do! Have a lovely weekend!

  3. What a pretty display that makes - love your header! That BJ is amazing - more imagination than 10 women put together, and always some little inspiration to take away after I read her blog posts.
I agree with Podso that a good 'ping' is a lovely thing!

  4. The wine glasses are beautiful. They would be lovely to drink my cranberry juice from since it looks a bit like wine.

Beautiful gift you received from BJ!

  6. I like your tablescape Vee! It's very inviting. Those cupcake liners in your jar are just beautiful. I have a mind to buy one of those jars for just that purpose! Your header is so lovely.... Have a wonderful weekend. Spring WILL come ;).

  7. Such sweet gifts! And don't they make such pretty cupcake liners now? I keep mine in an old cannning jar. Not quite as pretty as your apothecary jar.

I'm going to have to visit BJ. She sounds like a very talented gal and with a lot of neat ideas.

As for chocolate, my hubby always zeroes in on that or anything else sweet! I have to hide chocolate if I want to have some. Usually in the freezer...he never thinks of looking there! LOL!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

BJ's gift is very fun and colorful. What a welcome sight for winter weary eyes. Love that idea for putting cupcake papers into the apothecary jar.

  11. I like a pretty glass no matter what I drink. You sure get a lot of packages at your cottage! Must be fun going to the mail box. Believe it or not I'm watching snow fall out my window right now.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  12. Well, I can honestly say I'm part of the snow group now! We got our first snow fall this morning and I'm wondering how the forsythia, daffodils, and cherry trees are going to survive:-D I love the wine glasses--such a beautiful shape. Enjoy your favorite drinks in them and feel as special as you are, dear friend, XOXO

  15. I've been admiring that apothecary jar filled with pretty cupcake papers for a couple of days now. Glad to read the story behind it.
I like stemware of any sort. Somehow, it elevates even a glass of water to something finer.

  16. Do you happen to know where she finds the beautiful cupcake liners? I've never seen so many pretty ones.

Congratulations on the win! Even if you don't drink wine, drinking out of them just feels special.

  17. Beautiful stemware, Vee...whatever you may fill it with! Tell John his water will taste so much better out of your new glasses. There's not much wine drinking happening over here...but I like setting the table with stemware on occasion.

I like the cupcake liners on display! Sweet gift from BJ.

  18. That is pretty stemware Vee but I, like you, don't know a thing about wine or what size or shape of glass one uses for various wines. I think your table looks pretty. What a delightful gift you got from BJ. The cupcake papers are so pretty! Have a grand weekend.

  19. Beautiful stemware and a very simple, yet elegant tablescape you created..I use mine wine glasses for margaritas sometimes. ..love your goodies too... have a good weekend.

  20. Such a fun gift! The wine glasses are lovely as are your pictures of the table. Sometimes plain is better than too much clutter. :)

  21. Well look who's the lucky girl today! Such a sweetie BJ is too! I do have to agree with John, cupcakes are needed...maybe even some warm muffins in the morning. Enjoy your weekend!

  22. What a great idea for the cupcake liners. I do agree with John though and think it should be cupcake time. : )

  23. BJ puts the sweet in Sweet Nothings! That was so nice of her.

As to the wine glasses, I use them and other stemware for lots and lots of things. I just have a *thing* for it. My husband barely tolerates it because it isn't as chunky as he likes. I guess it offends his testoster-o-meter or something. We compromise. I set the table with it; he gives me a nod of appreciation and then heads for a more manly glass. Works for us.

  24. Very pretty stemware.
I really love those little chicks. You make it look like thay have the run of the house. Sweet!

  25. What fun. The jar looks so festive, as well as the new blog header. Those little chickies are so adorable I always feel the urge to buy more when I see them in the craft stores.

  26. It's just like drinking out of a china teacup - you can use a mug but there is something special about a teacup. Same with drinking water, tea or juice. A beautiful crystal goblet verses a regular glass. They'd be beautiful with with a trifle like dessert too!

I was going to mention your apothecary jar the other day! Such a cute idea and yes, it looks even better full to the brim!

You should feel special - you ARE special!

  30. What a lovely, cheerful gift from your friend BJ! Love all the colors and the flavors (chocolate!) and, even more, the sweet sentiment! The thoughtfulness of a friend is a gift in itself.

    Enjoy your lovely wineglasses too!

"Dear John, (o, dear..I've NEVER written a Dear John letter before),
You are so right about having CUPCAKES around now. Please mention to Vee that HALF those pretty papers MUST be yours as husband and wife should share equally in their possessions. Since it stands to reason that a MAN doesn't really appreciate cupcake liners unless they are holding CUPCAKES, YOUR half should be filled at all times. Why, you can even sort them out and have your very OWN jar of liners. Keep it sitting near the stove, in plain sight, just to give her a nudge !! :)...and for every time you get the urge for a cupcake, and you see NONE around, you may take a liner from HER jar. I can say all this 'cause I live hundreds and hundreds of miles away...out of her reach !!" :)))

  34. I love it being filled with cupcake liners...I love it and am going to have to copy it...such wonderful color
Well enjoy those glasses this tea drinker wouldn't have a clue either, but I know I would still enjoy them...enjoy!!!

  35. I was admiring your new header!

Love the jar filled with cupcake liners - it looks so colorful and cheery and the little chicks are just adorable!

Enjoy those glasses-they look really pretty and they don't have to be just for wine.

  36. Beautiful wine glasses and cupcake liners, oh my! Would you mind sharing the name of the company that was on the label of those cupcake liners? I don't think it shows up in the photos. I need some more to fill up my jar in the kitchen.

  38. BJ sure is a special lady, sweet of her to send you such fun!

Can't help you with the wine glasses, I don't usually drink wine. But, it just so happens that I made a pitcher of sangria this afternoon to have with supper tonight.

  41. Every time I open you blog those yellow chicks in your header make me smile, Vee!

I love your wine glasses -- I believe they look most suitable for white wine, but, as you said, they can be used for any beverage. I am not a tablescape person either, as I keep it simple most days--no chargers, multiple stacked dishes and fresh flower centerpieces -- unless it is a holiday dinner. However, I do admire all the ladies who put so much effort into their daily table settings.

PS: We got about 8 inches of snow so far! Winter is holding on a little longer.
bj's cupcake filler gift for you apothecary jar was so sweet! You'll be ready for many occasions. I was sad to learn my youngest grandson is gluten sensitive like his Momma. All my fantasies of making cupcakes for the boys went out the window. I know there is gluten free flour, etc, but I'm sure between that and the high altitude I live, in the cupcakes won't taste the same.

  42. Love your (lookalike) peeps! The wine glasses are beautiful, and yes, I am a (proud) wine drinker - cabernet is my preference, because life is a cabernet, it's red and red wine is good for the heart. Your pictures are amazing, you do a great job! Happy (early) Easter Vee & John.

  43. Hey Vee,
I love your header and your pictures and comments about a tablescape made me smile. I love your sense of humor....I think that most of us have tables that look like yours most of the time. I know we do...
but you do have some spiffy glasses now. :-)
    thanks for making me smile,
