Hot in the Country

Just in case today is as hot where you are as it is where I am...

~96F~
I thought I'd share a cool meadow with you. In fact, it is my favorite meadow and I'd love to take you walking through it, if only we didn't have to be on the lookout for things found in meadows left by cows.

~Cool and Inviting~

Doesn't it look cool and inviting? So very cool. So very inviting. Wonder where the cows are. I only found one.

~Behind the rock and to the left~
Stay cool now and have a pleasant weekend...

  1. Oh my goodness! It seems we were just commiserating with you on how cold it's been and now - such heat! Here we plunk along with little variation in temperature all year long. Some days I long for more heat, but 96 - that's a great time to be looking at cool meadow photos. Your meadow is beautiful!

  2. Really! No, we are NOWHERE near your heat. I have hung out clothes on the line and despair of them drying. We are all about 'cool and damp' out here!

  3. It is definitely hot here too. When I take the dogs out I try to stay in the shade of the tree where it is significantly cooler....just like your shady meadow.

    Beautiful pictures.

I'm staying in this afternoon and making candles to fill orders. So thankful for Air Conditioning.

  4. Are you Serious? Wow. It IS hot up there! Think y'all got us beat today! At least in East Texas - it IS a pretty meadow tho... I know y'all don't have stickers, so a nice stroll through that meadow is what I'd do.

As for your querstcheun about whether blog friends were just as nice after having met them, the answer is a resounding YES!!! Plus you get hugs. So you don't have to wonder any more. (at least with the ones I've met)

Stay cool, Vee and John! Go swimming or sumpin'.... :)

  5. Oye! That is hot. Do you also get a lot of humidity? Sheesh...we are hoping to creep into the upper 60's here and they are promising the 70's for possibly the weekend and next week! woohoo! So we are having throw a sweater on thoughts instead of keep cool thoughts.

  6. Yipper - it's hot here too (I love it). Thanks for the cool pictures. Have a great weekend.

  7. Are you in Florida? lol It's nice and cool here...in the 70s for highs! Turn the fans on and stay cool my friend! I'm off to read my poem again! ; )

  8. Whoooo-hooooooooo, the NE is in a heat wave! Here also.

Just have to draw the curtains/shades, to the sun. Relax. Slow down. Use A/C as needed. And keep relaxing. :-)

Beautiful meadow. One puts "gollashas" on, to go mucking about in a verdant meadow, yes? ,-) Or "wellingtons"....

  9. Hot here too, but going to cool down a little in a day or so....Your meadow looks wonderful. Green is the greatest color to look at these days, and there is no lack of it!

  10. It's a hot one here today too Vee. The cows are probably in the coolest shady spot they can find - maybe the loner likes peace and quiet.
The ceiling fans are whirling away because we don't use the A/C unless it's hot and humid, the kind of day where you melt just sitting there.
    Stay cool!

  12. Hi sweet Vee! I graduated! And, now I am back visiting my favorites and those who remained loyal, like you, through the mess of the dissertation!! Boy is it fun to write stuff you WANT to write about v. what you HAVE to write about!

  13. Seems like a very short time ago you were posting these pictures covered with snow. How beautiful it all looks when it's green, although living in Texas, I love the snow too! :)

  14. It's been raining for days.
    Have a great weekend!

  15. We are keeping cool here in Western Washington, low 60's today with cloudy gray skies. Thankfully the sunshine is suppose to return soon and we may even get up to 80 degrees next week! :D

  18. It wasn't that long ago that you were having snow! Amazing weather this year. I think it's hotter where you are than down here in the south,

  19. It is above 90degrees here and so humid, it feels like 100! The cicadas are out in full force, too. That is a lovely meadow, even with the cow patty surprises! Have a wonderful weekend. xo

  20. Vee,

it will probably snow when we get there on Tuesday. I think it is hotter there!

    Have a cooler weekend.

  21. Oh my goodness, Vee! There goes my perfect image of Maine. Down the tubes. It's not supposed to be that hot in Maine...especially in May! (It is still May for a few more hours.)

  22. It is that hot here in central Ky. Hot and humid. Storms raging to the west of us. Finally a pour down and the temp is down. We are just hoping no tornadoes hit here. We are just on the edge of Tornado Alley.Enjoy your week-end.

  23. Wow, you've got us beat! We're at 83. However, I know it won't be long until we are in the 90s for weeks and weeks. I'll remember this cool meadow and come back to visit often. Your blog background is very cooling too. I think I was here recently and saw a beautiful yellow background... or was I dreaming?
Have a wonderful weekend and keep cool.

  24. A beautiful meadow indeed! It was a high of about 82 today here in the NC mountains. At 7PM tonight it is a comfortable 77. Have a wonderful weekend!

  25. Gracious! That IS hot! I'm expecting the same here whenever these rains end. We've had so much rain that I have lost track of how many inches we've had all together.

That is a pretty meadow and I wouldn't let a little cow patty or two stop me, but now a bull in the meadow sure would! You want to be careful if they are around. But, I'm sure you know that. :)

  26. Well, I drove past an outdoor thermometer at our city's middle school and it read 98 degrees. It sure is hot! 3 days ago we were in the high 30's. My poor body needs more than 3 days to acclimate to a 68 degree change of temperature! PHEW your meadow is indeed inviting!
    Stay cool,
    Linda

  27. And I've always envied you your cooler weather! It barely got out of the 60's here today and it's raining. Again. I thank God for it, as the drought last year was just too distressing! Of course my house isn't flooded. I love your pastoral pictures. Looks cool and inviting, especially with the distant cow.
Hope your heat is short term!
    Debbie

  30. Hello Sweet Friend

I just now opened all the downstairs windows in hopes that it's cooler outside than it is in the house.

Too hot for stripping wallpaper and painting that's for sure, but we toil on:)

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  31. Wow, that is hot! Still stormy here in Okie land. Hope this nonsense ends soon.

  32. that's extremely hot for your part of the world!
do you even have air conditioning?

    ReplyDelete

    1. No central air, though we do have two units: One free-standing that works well for downstairs(we won't use that until it really gets hot and doesn't cool off at night);the other is a window unit used in the bedroom.

  33. I cannot believe how hot it is up there! A muggy 82 degrees here tonight! And YES!!! I do SO hope you have good A/C!! At least in the bedroom so you can sleep! I can stand the heat during the day but I MUST be cool to sleep!

  34. It's about 65f here and rainy and dark, wish I was where you are.

  35. Your right, soo cool and inviting! REALLY hot here in New Mexico. Near 100. Enjoy your week-end Vee!

  36. Love these photos of the cool meadow!! They are so beautiful Vee. Yes, it is hot, hot, hot!! And hazy and humid. It's okay if you just want to sit and do nothing. I just baked a rhubarb crumble in the oven. It's 70 outside and probably 75 inside at 10:30 am. Now the house will be hot all day. Oh well. It smells good. :) Dad and Lad are working outside getting rid of the cut down pine trees in this heat. Thunder storms for later on, just like yesterday. We enjoyed the Miramichi Tall Ships Festival yesterday in the heat at my sister's trailer on the river. Perfect spot! Enjoy the weekend and keep cool.

  37. That meadow does look inviting...we're still having cloudy, grey days, but at least it's only in the upper 60s/low 70s! My daughter says her area is muggy and hot and I'm wondering if I'll be able to take those days if we move to North Carolina; I guess I'll just wait and see. Happy June 1st, XOXO

  38. Trying to stay cool and love all the green!

  40. Good Afternoon, Vee. Such a lovely meadow.
GA is in the mid 80's and it's very humid and threatening rain this weekend.
I hope you enjoy your Sat. afternoon/evening. Take care, Mildred

  41. Hi Vee, hope you're beating the heat. We have a nice breeze blowing which cools off the 86 degrees. I'd hide too if I were the cow. ~ Abby

  43. I love beautiful meadows and I'm okay with cows being there and watching my step. I've had an encounter or two with unfriendly bulls and just seeing one in a beautiful meadow would keep me from walking through it. Sort of like that sign we saw, "My Bull Can Cross This Pasture in 10 Seconds; You Had Better Be Able to Cross It In 9".

  44. Good grief, I think it skipped spring and went right to summer weather for you! LOL. It's 88 here, so it's too hot to go out and walk. It's been fun watching the construction circus going on across the street though!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yes, it went from late winter to hot summer here in Texas...... I'd like some in-between... However, I can't complain because so far .... no flooding or tornados..... It's so heartbreaking to watch the news and see all the devastation that has taken place.....

I love your header picture!!! Your Azaleas and lawn are gorgeous!!!
Happy weekend to you my friend!

  46. Your meadow may look cool and inviting but the temperature would drive me indoors quickly. Cool and rainy here, gonna be in the 60's tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I can't believe you are hotter than we are here in North Texas! All in all, we've had a very mild spring. The longer it takes us to get to 100, the happier my husband will be:)

  48. The pictures of green look so cool pretty and remind me of my walks near HT. : )
