A new bakery opened in town so John took me there this morning for a great cup of coffee and a little treat. I have been reading about macarons for some time in Blogdom, but had never enjoyed one until this morning. Scrumptious little morsel it was, too, coffee flavored.
Since the bakery is located in the former library, there are shelves of books and magazines. I saw Tea Time right away and sat down for a bit of a read. We also had a visit with our next-door neighbor. I really enjoyed getting out in the neighborhood today.
See you Wednesday for our Downton Abbey discussion. I'm taking Tuesday off for good behavior. ☺
Until then...
Ahhh...a good bakery is the best and housed in the former library would thrill me! I've never had a macaroon either but it looks delightful. I would love to see what breads they had....that would be what I would buy. See you Wednesday! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious. Your taking Tuesday off for what,lol?--Blessings
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like my kind of place! I have never had a macaron either and now I'm on this darn diet :>( Maybe I'll reward myself when I lose some weight, lol. Enjoy your Tuesday off!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice little treat! Enjoy your day "off". :)

I'm glad you were able to get out and about!
ReplyDeleteYour John is a great guy! I can guess that after all those winter days in the house this was a very sweet (no pun) outing!
ReplyDeleteA sweet little outing! (pun intended) There are certainly enough loose ends in this season of DA. Looking forward to the discussion Wednesday, although it might be Thursday before I get to it. Have a great day, Vee!
ReplyDeleteFor me, anything coffee flavored is a welcome treat.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you finally got to try a macaron Vee, the other treat however looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be chomping at the bit to get to that Downton Discussion, Vee! So much happened. So long until autumn when Season 5 begins.
ReplyDeleteI mean until next January. I forgot.
ReplyDeleteYour treat sounds really good! I was so sorry to see Downton Abbey close till next season. At least it ended on a happy note!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee, So glad you enjoyed the new bakery! See you soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, is that what we get for good behavior?? Good to know! I can't seem to get away from reading blogs unless I am on vacation....but now, I have an Ipad....see what I mean?
ReplyDeleteI finally watched the final episode last night, and I was able to catch up with the whole thing I think. So I'll be back for the discussion. Those goodies look....well.....really good!
ReplyDeleteYummy treats! Isn't it great to go to a tea or coffee shop or bakery and sit down with a beverage and a nosh with your beloved? Relaxing and fun! I've never had a macaron. I'd like to try one someday. Have a great week, Vee!
ReplyDeleteVee, Your day started off so sweetly. I would love a treat such as that. I am getting a dvd of that show...everyone is talking about it and I absolutely love English movies. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteperfect way to start the day off I am thinking...looks good. Looking forward to Wednesday discussion. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteOh how nice. : )
ReplyDeleteI was so sorry when our little bakery in town moved. They moved about 5 miles away into the Shop and Save. I still see Bird there but it just isn't the same.
I just learned that my mother is a Downton Abbey fan. How lovely to have a bakery in town! I have a friend who makes the most wonderful homemade breads. When she posts pictures, I can almost smell it.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a wonderful bakery.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea! A great excursion all around.
ReplyDeleteShame on you for putting the scrumptious, heavenly, delicious looking cup cake photo on the page!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm really hungry. *lol*
Enjoy the time off for good behaviour. ~:)
Morning tea out is always good.
ReplyDeleteMerle.................,
What a fun place for a bakery- an old library! I would love that! I am off sugar (again) and hoping that I can really leave it alone this time. It is such an addiction for me. This sure looks tempting here, Vee!!!!! Enjoy your day off for your behavior -oh, you did say GOOD behavior----lol hmmmm.....maybe.....
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the Wednesday Downton Abbey discussion. xo Diana
Hello, Vee, thinking of you, my friend, especially today! Your treat sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteHi there! Say, could you shoot me an email? Please?
DeleteIt's so good to get out and enjoy a wonderful treat, Vee! I'd go for the cupcake!! xo
ReplyDeleteYou getting off for good behavior after eating one of those wonderful cupcakes?
ReplyDeleteA good bakery is such a treasure in a small town. Ours closed last year. I really miss it.
ReplyDeleteAww - that looks like a great start to your day!! Oh man, I need to start watching Season 4 so I can join in on your discussions. So far I've been able to avoid any spoilers. Now that the Olympics are over I might have to have a DA marathon.
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy! A friend recently gave me a treat bag filled with homemade macarons! They were delicious! What a treat! How lucky you are to have a new bakery nearby! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLinda
Sewwhat!
I had my very first macaron in Aix en Provence - sitting in the marketplace on the rim of a magnificent fountain! I often think I'll try baking my own but they're rather difficult to get right I hear so now and then I treat myself to one from a bakery. I would love the coffee flavor!
ReplyDeleteDA - oh how I will miss you! Another year before you return - hopefully I'll survive!
Mary X
I used to take that magazine! I MUST go to the library and read the issue you showed!!
ReplyDeleteLD and I caught up on our Downton Abbey episodes JUST so I can join in on the discussion Wednesday!!
Who KNEW we would love that program so much??
Oh, now that looks like a treat! I love anything with frosting.
ReplyDeleteI viewed a DA show on 20/20 last night. did you catch it, Vee?
It was about several manors that are now open to the public in England.
It was very interesting!
What a delightful morning! Ooooo, that coffee macaron looks so good...and time spent with your sweetie is always a good thing!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day off. :) Hope to be back on Wednesday to join in the Downton discussion. (I can't believe it's over for another season!)
I've lost wireless connection for 2 days and here at 9 tonight, I finally am connected. I may well be up until wee hours of the morning, trying to work while the net is ON....:)
ReplyDeleteThese look so delicious.
I made your baked pancake and it was delish...I have a post in draft about it. :)
Getting new internet lines out to the Summer House on Wed so maybe I can get back into the swing of things soon.
Macarons... been busy testing recipes. Enjoy your day off... looking forward to Wednesday's discussion. I can well imagine the amount of work you will put into the recap. We came home last evening and watched the episode but I really should watch it again. There was a lot to process. Probably my questions will be answered by you and your dear readers.
ReplyDeleteWe apparently have a new bakery in our town as well...that features macarons. They remind me of our time in Paris...the confection of choice over there.
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up on your past few posts over here....and laughing that you found 'the missing potatoes'. Glad you are having fun with them! Great pic's of your grands in the snow!
We have a cafe in one of our local libraries. It's a delightful place. Your morning treat looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'm off now, to finish the numbers for the tables. People do want to be able to figure out what table they are sitting at!
Enjoy your day off!
Deanna
Yum...and look at what your reading...loved that picnic scene btw!!! Looking forward to tomorrow's post on the last episode of Downton, season four. Sooooo good!
ReplyDeleteA sweet with tea in the morning.....would make any girl happy:) I never did get into Downton Abbey and now with all the follow up....I should have caught up and stayed up. Maybe I'll be watching it on my own once all the group fun is done.
ReplyDeleteMmm...I've seen those macaroons on-line everywhere too, but non to be had here in real life. Glad that you enjoyed your time out and about!
ReplyDeleteLeann
Sounds like my kind of bakery. Books, coffee and treats!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a tasty little treat! I love the idea of a bake shop in a former library!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a wonderful new spot to stop into from time to time, Vee! I'd love to read that Downton Abby article in Tea Time Magazine.
ReplyDeleteWe went up to the mountains for a few days for some R&R--it was good to "get away" and see soem of the pretty scenery up there!
A former library seems like a lovely place to have a cup of tea and a bakery treat. Has a new library been built in your town? I am on our local library board and we are currently in discussions about the location of our proposed "new' library. Is your library located in the heart of your community? I am looking forward to your recap of Downton Abbey as I missed the last half of it.
ReplyDeleteNow, that looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteI don't know whether you'll see this or not, but I didn't want to put this little note on the D.A. discussion and muddle things up. Since I have yet to become a watcher, I'm nowhere near the table there.
ReplyDeleteBUT... I have been out of town settling my MIL's estate for the past week, and I wanted to let you know that I THOROUGHLY enjoyed catching up here. I loved the song you posted for Sunday. It's one that I have heard before, but I don't know the backstory. (I must be dumb, too, because I couldn't find it on that link.)
What I really came to tell you, though, was that I loved that video of your John on the luge. You have such a keeper!!! I loved the boys' giggling in the background as much as the luge ride.
