January felt dark and bleak and blistering cold. Even the sun was blah.
~most mornings~
Good thing those grands arrived to brighten my world! No, we were not left comfortless.
No matter what looms ahead, if you can eat today, enjoy today, mix good cheer with friends today, enjoy it and bless God for it.
~Henry Ward Beecher
Perhaps you would also enjoy gathering the moments as a way to tie up a month and tuck it away in memory. Please do!
Here's to February!
Grandchildren are sunshine in our lives, aren't they! What blessings. It's getting warmer and sunnier here, and I hope you have the same, Vee.
ReplyDeleteGreat collages! Love those of the grands!
ReplyDeleteDeanna
Hi Vee, Lovely way to review the month. Such happy smiles from your grandsons! Hoping you get sunshine soon!
ReplyDeletep.s. love your header photo
I am really hoping I get a chance to do this too... Such a good idea! Cute grandkids! And yes, they brighten your day like not much else. LOVE that new header too! Enjoy your day Vee!
ReplyDeleteVee, I loved how you gathered the moments, both in your photos and with your words! Blistering is a good word to describe the cold we've been having...I love the quote by Henry Ward Beecher...and I also loved the idea of "tie[ing] up a month and tuck[ing] it away in memory." (I just realized I used the word "love" three times in this paragraph. Oh well.)
ReplyDeleteAs your your photos...warm and wonderful! I find myself wanting to be at your house on a winter's morning and take in that glorious wintry view. Nothing warms our hearts quite like grands. And I am intrigued by the lady in the first collage.
Thanks for linking up!
I'm with you... come on SPRING!!!
ReplyDeleteJanuary was a good month for me and my sweetie! We had good news, I've been oh-so busy with video training, and we've been getting our vacations scheduled for the year. We even managed a dinner party mid-month. It went by in a flash!
ReplyDeleteThe faces of those grands would brighten the bleakest weather day! Three cheers for grands!
A lovely gathering of moments. Your grands are too cute! Here's to February and a step closer to spring!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for February! Mostly because it is the shortest month of winter and leads to Spring. Not much nostalgic about January here, I'll be hard pressed to forget the 42-47" of snow we got, but today is a new month! Yay!
ReplyDeleteFebruary is one of my favorite months as my daughter was born on Valentine's Day. It was always a big day of celebration for us.
ReplyDeleteYour grands are adorable and I know they bring you a lot of joy. Still wondering about those potatoes - did you perhaps leave them in the car? Hope Feb. is a good month for you. Valentine's Day is always fun if you have kids, grandkids, or a sweetheart. :)
ReplyDelete"To February!" Although I expect we'll be feeling the same way when we usher in March. Haha! I don't want to wish my life away but….. By the way, it's a gorgeous day here in NB! The calm before the mess.
ReplyDeleteYeah for February! January was very cold here too. Our gas bill went sky high, just trying to keep the house at 65 degrees during the day and 60 at night.
ReplyDeleteI decided not to comment on previous posts, although you probably know that I had something to say. I always do. It's a sickness, really. I have just been distracted with not one but two funerals in the past two days and so am just sitting down for a pair of minutes to catch up.
ReplyDeleteSaid all that to say this: I was most interested in a post a few days ago regarding copyright. I can get all ferhoodled and confused as well and worry that I'm messing up. (Most recently with new pics from Atlanta.) I try to source it but it appears from your post that that is either enough... or not. And it is up to the good graces of the source.
Like you, I would rather use my own photos. I have a few on there that I have actually been planning to replace with a photo of my own. Truth is, if I don't have time for blogging, I sure as shootin' don't have time to chase down pictures.
Anyway, thanks for that post, and I really liked this one too. I'm looking forward to February, mainly because it's not January. Makes sense to me.
I've become quite adept at 'gathering the moments' as the circumstances of life have scattered my family, kids and friends. I know how precious those people and those pictures are. Also the phone calls, Iphone face to face and SKYPE. And blogging friends. I've come to look forward to your posts with your opinions, sense of humor and good photos. I'm still fine with winter, really, and our new 7 inches of snow. I'm putting up Christmas today. Letting go! :D
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me ~ I've got to take a few minutes today and gather my January moments. What a beautiful thing to do.
ReplyDeleteAhhh! Cheryl has inspired both of us!
DeleteInspiration came my way also today while reading your post. Our oldest daughter who deals with Bipolar Disorder has just had an episode and was hospitalized. Thank goodness for good health care as this is not a bit unusual but always had on a mother's heart. She will be find. The months of Dec and Jan were hard for her but we are so proud of her strength and her daughters' support she will regain her strength again Blessings to you Vee.
ReplyDeleteYou always have lovely treats for your grandies Vee!
ReplyDeleteTheir gorgeous little faces would cheer up any bleak day.
Not long now - Spring will arrive before you know it!
WHAT - no potatoes??!!!!
Your grands are adorable- I am waiting on spring...I think we still have a good three weeks of iffy weather headed our way.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good idea of Cheryl's. Tying up a month - so much can happen in 31 days (or 28.) I read all your previous posts this week on my phone while waiting for the ferry, but I couldn't reply. Interesting discussions of DA and of copyright infringement. Guess I should put a Pinterest pin on my posts - there's one about following me on Pinterest in my sidebar, but that doesn't exactly give permission to pin from my site, although one would assume that a Pinterest user would be willing to have their own posts pinned. However, better not to assume anything.
ReplyDeleteEven though the scene from your windows in the morning may look blah, your home looks cozy and warm with the lamplight glowing. Grandchildren are such a delight, are they not?
LOVE that quote - it is so perfect.
ReplyDeleteThose smiling grands make me happier just gazing at their sweet faces. Ah, children grow too danged fast.
Stay warm and dry - and enjoy your weekend. Big hugs.
Precious grandchildren! I believe everyone is looking forward to spring.....love the quote Miss Vee!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing good about February is it's right next door to March and that means SPRING! We sure have had a cold, wet one this year. I hope that means lots of wildflowers smiling at us like happy children from the roadsides. They always brighten my day. And so did the quote by Henry Ward Beecher. I needed to hear something inspirational.
ReplyDeleteI like your new blog header. It's pretty. ~:)
So glad you had those cute faces come to brighten your days!
ReplyDeleteFebruary is staring out warm here by me. It is in the mid 30's. Hard to believe a few days ago it was -14. I was outside today without a coat on.
ReplyDeleteBring it February! We've had enough of January. Fun comfort collage!
ReplyDeleteHere's to February indeed! A month to love, eat chocolate, enjoy longer days and having thoughts of Spring!!
ReplyDeleteI love that vintage picture of you? Your Grandsons are so adorable - I can see how they must have brightened the January blahs.
Amen to that ! Great photos . So far so good here it has been pouring rain all afternoon and still going this evening as the temps are very mild 36°F for us that's nice this time of year and yesterday I saw 4 Robins already a lot of our snow has gone thanks goodness so so far February is off to a good start ! Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
ReplyDeleteThose two cute faces would brighten any overcast day. Cheers to February, I turn another year older but at least get to spend the month in the sunshine state. It took us two and a half days of driving and that's a lot sitting. Amazing how tiring it is in the passenger seat. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Vee!
ReplyDeleteOh my, January was bleak and dreary, I'm so glad it's over! Your pictures are delightful - your grands are adorable, and I know February will be much brighter and hopefully warmer!
Hugs.
Barb
I am going to do that very thing!!! Use a few of my favorite pics from the month that I never posted! Blogger ap? I am so green! I read Sunday's post. Is it an easie way or something?
ReplyDeleteI am happy to see this January gone. I'm lucky I got to spend a few days of it in Florida.
ReplyDeleteTreats and grandchildren... yum and fun!
ReplyDeleteIt may be cold and bleak outdoors, but it is most definitely warm and inviting inside your home! I enjoyed this peek into the days of your January. Joining the Gathering the Moments party with you at Cheryl's!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the grandkids always brighten your day! We met a man at Target today who said that the weather channel meteorologists were saying that there are 2 more polar vortex coming this month. So looking forward to spring!
ReplyDeleteVee
ReplyDeleteI always love the warmth of your homes wooden walls.
I bet it's been a lot of fun with the g'boys, they have a way of keeping
you young....and worn out! they sure are cute.
Vee, you certainly are invited to the Hermitage. After thinking and praying on it, I've decided to make it public. A blessed Sunday to you.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your photos, those grand boys are really growing, and what a joy they must be! Spring can't come soon enough for me, we have had an exceptionaly cold winter!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sue
Busted Vee, lol. Lovely Sunday post, one would think you to be closest to the Lord as long as you mentioned Him in your post and that makes it all ok. Smiles, really cracked broken plates? I waited until Monday to visit, not because of yesterday only because I was grandmothering sitting 3 girly girls, one baby and two men and a chain saw. I down loaded the app three days ago and haven't gotten to use it yet. I find working on this little tablet is so confining I'll never catch on. My hubby is sure I'll just take to it like cooking and keeps finding easy tricks and such for me to use on the road, I'm thinking back home is where my getter done is going to be. Love your blog, the boys are beautiful, can I say that..... handsome better. You and I and Spring must be having a race. Have a wonderful week,
ReplyDeleteCindy
