It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"
~A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)
~what about lunch~
I've included three out of four possible lunches this week. I don't even remember the missing one. Today, as a reward for good behavior, we're ordering in. (We had planned to go out, but it's another stormy day.)
So that's boxed Mac and Cheese (it must be Kraft), Pannukakku (not a hit with the photo bomber below, but John and I love it and have it every few weeks or so), and turkey wraps.
These cute dinner napkins arrived this week from Joanne at My Not-So-Empty Nest. The napkin rings are adorable! We sure do go through a lot of dinner napkins around here so it was fun to receive ones with such cute graphics. Joanne provides a tutorial *here.* Thank you, Joanne!
And a big thank you to those who participated in the Note Card Party on Tuesday/Wednesday and the Downton Abbey Discussion Wednesday Thursday (I no longer know what day it is). I couldn't have done it without you!
I'm looking forward to your snow pics. Thanks to you and the participants in the note card party...it was great fun and I appreciate you adding my link. The napkins are such a thoughtful gift. Wishing you and John a nice weekend. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThe lunches all look good to me!! The snow seems never ending but I do enjoy looking at someone else's pictures. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe napkins are adorable! And it sounds like you've enjoyed your week....all of the lunches sound yummy. When you get older....you go back to the things you liked when you were young. Stay warm today. And get that video of John ready! He's my hero, you know! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for providing a link to the pannukakku...I have never heard of that!
ReplyDeleteThat baked pancake looks good, do you fill it with anything in particular? How sweet to receive the napkins and rings, I love fun things like that on my table!
ReplyDeleteI have done peaches before, which was yummy, but this time it was Blackberry jam or Aunt Jemima. We're all out of real maple syrup until the new season comes in.
Deleteummm, this makes me hungry for a German pancake....yours looks so good.
ReplyDeleteLovin' the new napkins and rings....
I see ya'll are just embracing all that cold white stuff which is a GOOD thing. If ya can't beat it,.....join it.
WAY TO GO, JOHN BOY. :))
This Finnish pancake is lighter than a Dutch baby or German baby, not that I don't love them, too!
DeleteLunch looks like a fun time at your house!
ReplyDeleteok, I just checked and I have all the ingredients for your baked pancake....about to put it in the oven...
ReplyDeletewill let you know how it turns out....yum...I will have mine with LEMON CURD...ooo, and bacon....
"hurry up, pancake, and cook....i'm starving !!!"
You're a good grandmother to come up with different and tasty lunches each day. Mac and cheese is a given, even for the big boys in our lives and when I Iooked at the recipe for the Finnish pancake, it looks like yorkshire pudding with the ingredients, except for the flavouring.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to take a long time for all this snow to melt, isn't it?
Judith
I am so behind on Downton Abbey due to travel for work. Perhaps this week I'll get caught up and then join the discussion again.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have lunch if you're cooking!
Oh what a fun week you've had - a stormy weather week at Grammies that the boys will "remember when" in their old age and will have your pictures to prove it!? And the delicious food, oh my! I want to try making that Pannukakku - it looks wonderful and Maple Syrup season is just around the corner - we hope!
ReplyDeleteI'm falling behind! I totally missed the Downton discussion! Boo!
ReplyDeleteWe are in full last minute detail wedding business here! She had her last fitting yesterday! We need some jars for flowers, getting those today.
I'm taking a deep breath and still smiling. Off for to load up on food to feed this crew and any family members who happen to be here at a meal time next week! Ah….8 days, I think!
Deanna
Morning Sweet Vee
ReplyDeleteI want to come and nest with you and the grands! We've got rain and lots of it - at least we don't have to shovel the rain:)
xo
Yummy! I never tire of looking at your photos, snow or not. Rainy day here in upstate/western NY, suppose to go pick the china cabinet up today..if it ever stops raining. LOL--BLESSINGS
ReplyDeleteStay warm. Enjoy lunch. Love your new napkins and rings. (If you see any rain ... send it here.)
ReplyDeleteYes, cute napkins and sweet rings!
ReplyDeleteYour Pannukakku looks like Yorkshire pudding
with a sweet twist to it. yum..
Look forward to seeing more snow pics soon.
The lunches look good! Looking forward to seeing John doing the luge. I'm sorry you have all that snow, but please don't send any our way, 'cause we just got rid of ours and that's enough for the year as far as I'm concerned. Do you think we'll be that lucky? Nah. Just call me Cranky Pants II. :)
ReplyDeleteThe lunches all look good and now I'm hungry! Looking forward to seeing John's ride on the luge.
ReplyDeleteThose are cute napkins . Oh I love your photos , lunch looks YUMMY ! I am hungry now lol ! The weather here has been a mix bag of all sorts including thunder and lightning but now it is sunny with warm winds and temps are 36°F for now and to be going up a bit more lots of our snow here has melted thanks goodness . Miss Spring I think is trying her best to push old man winter out , I hope she succeeds . Thanks for sharing . Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and busy week you've had. Do you find coming up with lunch ideas difficult? I do. Now that it's just Tim and me, Saturday lunches are usually forages in the fridge. Leftovers, etc. I usually have a salad. But when little ones or company are here - I rely on soup or wraps or quiche. Love the baked pancake idea! The napkins are wonderful, and useful, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, the snow! Here's hoping it begins melting soon.
Your lunches look good and those napkin rings are CUTE!!
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious - I've not heard of Pannukakku before - thank you for the link Vee!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the slices of fresh apple and orange on your table for the grandies!
Joanne's napkins and rings are very cute - what a kind gift.
I've been working all week, it's now early Saturday morning here so I thought I would do my belated "NOTE CARD" post, only to find the party's done and dusted!
It's my favourite party so I'm sorry to have missed it - I'll use the time preparing my March note cards instead!!!
Looking forward to seeing your grands sleds - that will be fun!
You are so very organized and those grands are so blessed to have such great grandparents to hang out with! I love those new napkins and rings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, colorful collage! Those napkins and napkin rings are cute as can be.
ReplyDeletePannukakku! I'd never heard of it, and thought perhaps it was something Hawaiian, but when I looked it up, I was enlightened. I think we may have to have this for supper tonight! It sounds awesome and then some!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the ongoing additions to my education!
Delightful. I looked up your link for Pannukakku and it reminds me of Dutch Baby recipes. Someday (I've said for years, now!) I'm gonna make a Dutch Baby.
ReplyDeleteI am sure your snow pictures will be breath taking, Vee. What is panukukku? xo
ReplyDeleteSo your Pannukakku got me wanting some...I've whomped up a batch for my lunch too. My eye fell on the box of baking cocoa next to the flour as I was putting it together; now I am thinking a Chocolate Pannukakku recipe would be awesome. A project for a snowy day, which is decidedly NOT today, at least here. I was out on my deck sunning myself. How is it possible that 38 degrees can feel like sunbathing weather now I can not say.
ReplyDeleteYour Snow Circus fun is inspirational.
Love the photo bomber. :-)) Cute! Funny how our kids always loved Kraft mac'n'cheese and hated my homemade REAL macaroni and cheese, baked in the oven. lol
ReplyDeleteI see the stars on the apples Grandma has cut. And it looks so bright and sunny at your place.
ReplyDeleteThe napkins I sent you look right at home already! I'm so pleased that you like them.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy looking at snow... not so fond of going out in it anymore. Those cute grandkids of yours seem to have plenty of fun with it!
Even we are being threatened with snow again this weekend. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a mighty fine time was had at your place this week. Love the napkins. The napkins I made really could have used a surging around the edges.
Kraft Mac and Cheese is the ONLY one allowed in my house! And it has to be served with cremated all beef hot dogs. (I'm such Trailer Trash. lol) Love the napkin rings. Very cute. ~:)
ReplyDeleteHaha, my recent pooh quote about lunch must have inspired you! I bet the week has flown by for you with the grands to keep you entertained and all of the blogging hoopla.
ReplyDeleteWell it's one of my favorites and has been quoted more than once around here. =D
DeleteWhat a great gift .
ReplyDeleteKraft here , the hubs fav. lol
Your lunch table looks so colourful and almost spring like colours at that! Gotta love KD! Once in a blue moon. :) The napkin rings and napkins are sweet. I really should start using cloth ones. I have some pretty napkin rings and napkins….it's just the thought of laundering them I guess. Have a great weekend. I hope the snow is a no show!
ReplyDeleteLove the quote, and also your lovely cloth napkins. My love of cloth napkins go way back to my childhood. I have tons, and as they get washed and worn and faded they are "gone" and new ones replace them. I have found the Thrift Store a great resource for cloth napkins. In fact, I need some with spring colors..guess I'll make a run down today. Changed my kitchen from the splashes of red to Spring Yellow.
ReplyDeleteBTW ~ I see your apple slices cut in the round. I did that when I was teaching Sunday School, during the Christmas Season to show them a "star" hidden in the heart of the apple. Then after the object lesson...a healthy snack.
Oh that Pannukakk which I've never heard of looks delicious. I've gone to the link and copied the recipe. I can't wait to make it.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see some "real" lunches for once. I admit that I eat much less right now with dieting, but the Kraft Mac and Cheese...be still my heart!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Your lunches look good to me!
ReplyDeleteIt's easier to count storms than remember what day it is! LOL
LOL- 'Well, we are on the same page (or plate), Vee. I don't know what day it is either. I thought it was Thursday all day long. lol Great recipe. I have switched from Kraft mac and cheese to the Velveeta one with the shells and "wet cheese in a pack" and I am hooked now. I add fresh ground pepper and some shredded sharp cheese on top of it and the grandgirls say it tastes just like Noodles And Company.
ReplyDeleteOkay- just so you know- TOMORROW is SATURDAY! lol xo Diana
I am coming back tomorrow to see John's ride! (Of course, you know I'd come back tomorrow anyway, but I do want to see John's ride.) :)
ReplyDeleteLove the quote by A. A. Milne. Doesn't Pooh say the most sensible things?
Congratulations on your win! Those are darling napkins!
Love that Winnie the Pooh quote. What a good grandma you are!
