Who Needs Sochi?

warning: snow scenes ahead

This week, in preparation for Sochi, I downloaded the N8C app for extra coverage. I am naive, but I really thought that it was a free app. And it was, all thirty minutes of it, half of which was used on commercials. I gave it a lousy rating and promptly deleted it.

Anyway, watching snowboarders, however briefly, did give one boy ideas. He was ready to tackle the slopes.

The one not feeling so well opted for bringing in space ships safely.

By this morning, I had plenty of evidence that "the slopes" had seen lots of action.

Now on to action of another sort — getting this place in some semblance of order. I've given up on having home be attractive and cozy. I'm simply opting for clean.

You have a great weekend!

  1. and I am opting for cozy, and uncluttered... clean is on the agenda, but so far, cozy rules! :)

  2. Who needs Sochi indeed! I'd much rather watch the children play in the snow. Much more rewarding.
Clean is good. It beats attractive any day of the week. ~:)

  3. I haven't watched a second of it since I heard they were rounding up stray dogs and killing them for the convenience of their visitors...just shows me they are STILL the Evil Empire and deserve not a second of my time...I rather see the scenes like you have here with the little ones sledding down the slopes...to hell with the Russian government...which is a perfect place for them...I am sure the majority of the Russian people do not agree with their actions..love the photos you shared!

  4. Glad your slopes were put to good use, and the sick little one could have just as much fun with space ships. Hope you are productive today with your cleaning. Don't be hard on yourself, whatever you do, will be more than you did if you hadn't done it. Thanks for putting my Valentine on your sidebar. ~ Abby

  5. Adorable photos of adorable little boys. Love that one with the glow of the iPad reflecting off of his face. I've been burned on apps before too. I think I have deleted about 50% of the ones I downloaded one time or another. The problem is that they still show on my "purchased" list, and I would love to get them off of there too. Too much clutter.

Clean is an admirable goal, LOL. And we're not much interested in the Olympics this time around. Would love to see that liberal nutcase, Bob Costa, fired.

  6. We don't have tv so we haven't watched any coverage of the olympics. I like that your grand got out there to do some snowboarding. That's fun.

  7. No Olympics at our house. No cable TV. No iPad. No technology. Oh wait...I am typing this on my laptop, so I am not technology-free! In fact, I am using the time I should be cleaning to search the internet for a new bed skirt. At least I will be after I quit reading blogs...

Weekend blessings to you! Enjoy your cleaning projects, your clean house, and Downton Abbey!

  8. Good Morning, Vee. I love the pictures of our grandsons. Don't work too hard this weekend.

  9. I'm cleaning today too Vee. It's hard to keep a house clean with two dogs running in and out in the snow.

  10. Looks like my yard, only I'm the only one playing out there. Would love to have the grandkids over to play with. : )

  11. Yep...we usually opt for clean, too. This year my heat sources are under performing for the cozy feel to shine through. Our boys would always try to find something to slide down with their snowboards when we had snow. Fun times!

  12. I am all for cozy! Your grandsons are so cute!!

  13. Your little snowboarder with the dragon hat is so cute. Rosy cheeks rule over Olympics anyway! Hope the spaceship traffic controller feels better soon! Stay warm!

  14. The boys are such cute fellows, Vee.
I can see why you may not have had time to clean!
I can't remember when the last time my home was either clean or attractive.
It's been clutteedr while we're trying to get it in order to sale.

  15. Your little athlete looks like he's having fun. :) I opt for relatively clean - that's the best I can do.

  16. Ah, I remember the days when I was a little kid and loved playing in the snow. I outgrew that and am huddled in my house waiting for Spring. Saturday is cleaning day here too.

  17. Watching kids in the snow is sometimes much more fun and worthwhile than the 'games' on TV. I hope the little one is feeling better. It's a cold wind today and I'm inside and listening to JOY FM 96.5 and blogging. The house is clean enough. :)

  18. To be young and have snow to ride on what fun.

  19. Yes I read about that free 30 minutes or so. Your world there looks far better. Beautiful sunny snow picture.

  20. Isn't it great. Right about that age kids think each discovery is all their own!
Your home always looks attractive and cozy. This time of year clean is in the eye of the beholder. Just take off your glasses and the dust will dissappear.

  21. Clean sounds great to me! I think I'll go with your plan.

  22. I'm sure there is at least one Olympian that started out as a daredevil on his grandmother's slope. :-)
Clean is good, stuff laying around means people actually live and play in the house.

  23. Who needs Sochi indeed? You have your own snowy entertainers.
I fully understand the need to clean. I've been in a funk for awhile, doing what's necessary but not enough. Today I painted the hallway from the basement stairwell up through the main floor entrance to the upstairs hallway. I kept a damp rag with me and dusted the tops of door casings and baseboards prior to painting. The dust was appalling. Hope I can remember that next week when I intend to keep on cleaning (without painting.)

  24. What wonderful photos. Thank you for sharing. Thanks for the smiles. Blessings

  25. No Sochi here either Vee - we don't have cable TV and our local channels aren't covering it!
Cleaning is down to bare minimum here as the precious summer days are spent in the garden, walking or just gathering my thoughts as I sit outside enjoying the sunshine!

  26. I haven't watched any Olympics so far. I need to check it out. I love skating. Looks like you might have a future Olympian in the family!

  27. I hear ya--clean seems to be rather unattainable, or at least very fleeting, around here!

  28. Loved seeing the grands playing in the snow. I remember the boys coming in long enough for me to dry their clothes in the dryer so that they could go out again.

Our kitchen floor is the worst - so much salt and white yuck keep building up.

  29. It was great sledding weather here this weekend --there was plenty of snow but the temperatures went up towards 50 degrees. I saw many in my neighborhood by a few good hills watching their children sled. Hope your little guy is feeling better!
