Waterside Cottages

For those of you who asked, the topic of "Followers" is discussed at Blogger right ---> here. I guess that I agree with Lovella's comment on yesterday's post. To me, it's redundant if one has a blogroll. I'll have to take a wait and see approach. If any of you are using this feature, please tell more about it that I may better decide. What do you like about it? What don't you like about it?

Recently, I learned that Barbara Jacksier, who has a beautiful blog and who is also a writer and editor, has been told that the publishing of her new book Waterside Cottages could be postponed because of the current economic climate. Barbara has asked for a vote at her blog and help in getting the word out. Please visit and offer your support. If you've never visited, you'll be charmed by her beautiful photographs.

I'm offering a photo of a "waterside cottage" today myself...just in way of support for Barbara. (Wonder if she includes any Maine cottages...hmmmm.)

If you follow the link, you'll find many other delights as well. Oh to live the way that the out-of-staters do on our coast... :D

Yesterday had to be spent off the computer most of the day because of thunderstorms. And just when I was getting caught up with all of your blogs so nicely! I hope to do far better today.

Enjoy your Wednesday, Dear Ones.

Edited to Add: Those connectivity issues of a few days ago reared up again. My modem is officially kaput. I will catch up, yet again, as soon as I am back online. Until then, behave yourselves! ;>

  1. I would love to be sitting out on that porch with a delicious cup of warm tea. It is a beautiful picture.

  2. How nice it would be to live in that home if only for a few weeks. Right now there is a loud motorcycle revving up across the street. I'd so like to trade that noise for the sound of the water and other natural sounds.

  5. What a lovely view of the water. I agree about out-of-staters having the best views....the same holds true here in Central Vermont--though no "old-timer" would live on those mountains full time! I'll stop by the blog and vote for the publication of Waterside Cottages. ~Kathy

  6. I visited Barbara yesterday to leave my comment. I do hope her book makes it to print!

About this following thing, I checked out your link and it looks a bit weird to me. I really have no need to know who if anyone follows my blog. Is it an ego thing? I already know all my regulars and occasionally a lurker will confess and I am ok with that. I'd like to hear more thoughts on this subject.

  10. I have listed the blogs I follow as an experiment. I am reserving judgement, but I like the updates on my dashboard, especially when I am away from the computer and my favourites list! Now if i had a laptop, things may be different, but we are NOT GOING THERE.

  11. PS I didn't need to see who follows me. I wanted updates.

  12. Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming! Linds, I figured that there had to be something more to it. I use Bloglines so I get updates that way.

  13. Hello dear friend. I know I haven't been here in a bit, life is crazy. That porch was just the momentary "vacation" I needed. George and I were out walking around his childhood neighborhood last week and there are so many beautiful cottages that have been left to the elements and I so want to fix them all. He just laughs and says one day I'll get my cottage ... or mansion depending on my mood at the time we are ready to buy. I think a mansion with a cottage would be the best option!

  14. I'd love to be enjoying that porch! I got her email yesterday and left a comment - it's a shame really. People need some escapism in times like these!

  15. I will visit your friend. That's a shame they have postponed her book. I, also, would love to be sitting on that porch. There's so many challenges I am having with work that it looks so peaceful. Please hop on over to my blog. I have tagged you. I want to learn more about you.

  17. I saw the "following" thingy on blogger, but didn't do any research on it. You have to let me know what you hear and I'm headed over to the link you provided to read what was said there.

Hope you get a new modem SOON!!!
