A Little Christmas Carol Talk

Sometimes, Christmas comes when we need it. We've needed Christmas around here a few days this week and, yes, I confess, that I have already begun playing Christmas music. It's early. I know it's early. But it is some of my favorite music and my mother's favorite music and so we are finding it comforting and peaceful and sweet and dear and meaningful beyond words.

When my niece was working on the video I mentioned yesterday, she worked with *Grooveshark* to build a playlist. It took me no time to sign up for a free account and to begin building my own playlists. I found this site easier than most I've worked with. Of course, I did have the benefit of watching K work on it for some time before I gave it a whirl. So thought I'd mention it for now is the time to make your list if you want to beat the clock a bit. It'll be ready for you just when you need it.

Somewhere In My Memory

Candles in the window,
shadows painting the ceiling,
gazing at the fire glow,
feeling that gingerbread feeling.
Precious moments,
special people,
happy faces,
I can see.

Somewhere in my mem'ry,
Christmas joys all around me,
living in my mem'ry,
all of the music,
all of the magic,
all of the fam'ly home here with me.

Edited to Add: OOps! Wanted to add mine...

And the good thing is that it won't play unless you want it to.

  1. I found a station on my car radio that is playing Christmas music and I set the button, so I could start listening to it a little too Vee.

  2. I'm glad you are enjoying your hot coffee this morning. And I'm glad you are finding solace in familiar things like Christmas carols. I haven't begun to play mine yet, but I think that's going to change today.

  3. I love this! I could only find the instrumental for my Playlist (which took YEARS to perfect!).

I'm stealing the instrumental for my opening song at Christmas time. :)

  4. Jonathan has been playing Josh Groban's Christmas album downstairs the past couple of days. I have enjoyed it from wherever I have been puttering around the house.

I am glad your mother is with you. So many memories to share and projects to enjoy.

  6. I have been listening to Christmas music off an on for the last couple of weeks. It doesn't matter what's going on in my life - the actual "Christmas season" is never long enough for me to hear everything I want to hear over and over again. Christmas music soothes the soul, reminding us of Christmases past...and the people who were a part of them.

  7. It is still a bit early for me for Christmas. I like to wait until after Thanksgiving.
It is good that you find comfort in the songs and in the Christmas season. I think of you all often.

  9. OH! Vee, I am so glad to find someone who enjoys Christmas music as much as I do, and I am so thankful that you and your Mom are finding solace together in this music. I am always amazed at how our heavenly Father knows just exactly what we need and when.

Thanks for the heads up on this site.

I am very anxious to show my cactus and like yours they can't make up their minds who they are, sometimes they bloom early, other times much latter even into the March. Anyhow I always enjoy them.

May you be blessed today and know I think of you so often and pray for you.
    MUch love,
    Sue

  10. Vee,

I don't want to skip over being thankful but I feel in the spirit of the Christmas season too and hummed a Christmas tune or two while finishing up my latest project. Maybe it is time to pull out the well loved CD's. Find comfort and joy where you may. Have a sweet weekend.

  11. I too have been finding pleasure in Christmas carols this past week. I couldn't resist once the weather turned cold. Take care...and enjoy the music!

  12. Oh this is cool! I'm ready for some Christmas music, too. My daughter is going to put up the tree next weekend while home from school, and we'll all join in on the fun! It's supposed to be COLD, finally, and I'm sort of looking foward to it!

This is a sweet song, and I know this Christmas will be different for you all. Nan will be there in spirit and I think you'll feel her presence and her love all around you. She's "home" - I love that you said that on your list of thanksgivings!

Grooveshark, hmmm, where do they come up with these names!!!

  15. Vee,
Since your Sunday comments are closed, I am commenting here.
I have been praying and meditating on that verse a lot recently!
Your Sunday post is so on target.
It never ceases to amaze me how after all these years of knowing God, that He never grows old or stale. Always more, and more, and more, and more. More wonder, more joy, more intimacy, more blessing. I cannot comprehend or be grateful enough for these wonderful blessings.
