A driving rain blew through leaving the screens filled with raindrops and taking all our snow — again!
Thought I'd share some Christmas gifts. I'm even going to share my nighty. Still wearing it, too, at this late hour. May wear it all day. I'm feeling rebellious like that.
The tree is still up and will be until January 7. The cat will probably have a nervous breakdown when it goes and I'll probably have to purchase her one of those fancy schmancy cat condos.
Let's take a closer look to the left where we'll find John's work station and his new radio on the top shelf there. He's a radio man for sure.
This radio replaces his former one with an unwieldy antenna at his former work station, which was obviously also used to corral wrapping paper.
I so very happily removed it to the upstairs where I can listen while working in my sewing room.
A gift from the grands...a sweet little tea cup pin cushion. Sam is going to help me load it with pins next time he comes. He'll be feeling better then.
My daughter gave the family a gift that proves that everything old is new again.
It'll be one of those roving gifts. Whenever anyone's in the mood for Atari, it'll land in that home. Haven't figured out how to use it yet, but I'm sure one of the geeks will show up eventually.
This is a gift from my son and daughter-in-law. Have you seen these? It's from T*emp-t*ations. It's an extremely versatile serving dish that can be used for chip and dips, crudites and dips, and as a cake server. I'm using it to serve up this leftover cake.
And lastly my new powder blue white polka-dotted flannel nighty. I do adore a flannel nighty. This is a gift from John.

I've so admired all the gals who were not invisible this Christmas season and who shared photos of themselves. Thought I'd join them! (Hahahahahhahahahahhahahaha...)
Oh, you'd like to see the nighty? Here you go...
Have a wonderful day, my friend. I'm repairing to the sofa and my book with a cup of tea and a piece of cake.
Nothing like a flannel nighty on a cold winters night! You got some very unique goodies!
ReplyDeleteJust had to stop by quickly, early... To tell you that YES I did see your comment in Karen's blog. -gigggles-
ReplyDeleteBest to not like Snikerdoodles, like I don't. Easy to by-pass all those calories that way. ,-)
But seeeeeeeeee, I did not *give you what for,* as you said I might. :-)
Isn't it fun??? Chattering back and forth, via mutual friend's blogs? Yes, I do love the Blog Land!
Be back later...

I love flannel in the winter...so snuggley and warm.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
ooohhh...ahhh... a flannel nighty! That would even feel good here in Florida this morning! There's a chill in the air! Your snow looked so pretty until the rain came! Your window will be a regular on your blog...a way for us to get a glimpse of your world! Enjoy your comfy day! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteRe: Your comment in my blog... And Posts in ears. Yes, I put anti-bacterial cream on my Posts often, even while leaving them *in* for a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteEven put cream on regular earrings, when putting them in. Good, many ways. :-)

-chcukle- *Naughty* Vee! All her pics click-to-big. EXCEPT for the pic of HER in her sweet new nightie. *Naughty, naughty,* and I *caught* you. ,-))))
ReplyDeleteFlannel nighties! Delightful!!! But do you mean some people wear any other kind of night garment, in Winter?!? No!!!! Say it isn't so!!! ,-)
Lovely gifts.
Love photos of rain drops.
Your snow is gone. -pout- Good thing "Grands" got in some sledding.
Terribly cold here. Temps fell on Wed. and Wed. night. Brrrrrrrrr....

Mmmmm... Please make that CHUCKLE, above. Somehow, I always mix up those letters. -sigh-
ReplyDeleteActually I mix up letters a lot. As I age. I must be getting...... what's that word that begins with *dys...*? :-)

I think I just love that versatile server you got, never seen one but now must think about getting one, what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely relaxing day! Everyone deserves a jammie day now and again!
What a lovely post!
ReplyDeleteI love flannel gowns. I am wearing one now....at 11:10 on a Thrusday morning!! I bought this gown 27 years ago when I was pregnant with Amber. It was HEAVY flannel and warm as blazes. NOW it is light as a whisper......and I love it still.
I hope you enjoyed your tea and book. I was doing the very same thing this morning!
I so love flannel nighties. You have cold, cold weather up there in the north so I am sure you'll get to wear it for months to come yet, this year. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWarren just might have been jealous of John's new radio....but he won't get the chance cause I'm not telling him about it. lol
I'm trying to remember when I last had a flannel nightgown. Eons ago. Decades ago...for sure. I like lounging around in flannel pj's...though a nightie has a much more 'nostaglic' look about it. Let is know if you manage to spend your whole day in it!
ReplyDeleteLove the versatile serving dish! I've never seen anything like it.
Have a good day with your tea, your books...and your cozy nightgown!
Love all your gifts. I am a fan of the Temptations line. Have a few pieces myself. Love your flannel nightie. Maybe in 2012 I will get brave to "show" myself on my blog. ;-) Happy New Year. xo
ReplyDeleteVee, I love your window and all the special things hanging in it. My mother's house in West Virginia has a window in the kitchen like yours that faces the mountain. I can just imagine it in the winter and me decorating it like you have done yours. She has been gone for almost eight years. I miss her so much, but love to go home and stay at her house.
ReplyDeleteFlannels- love them! It's not been cold enough here yet, but I expect it will soon enough. I like that serving dish- I need something like that for chips & dip. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your nighty time - I'm sure you'll be over your rebellion by tomorrow and get dressed to your shoes bright and early in true FlyLady fashion! LOL
ReplyDeleteVee
ReplyDeleteWith the rain and all, it looks like the perfect day to cuddle up on the couch in your new nightie and read!
Very sweet gifts from all!
Pretty cosy nightie, no wonder you want to stay in it all day.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Christmas at your house. I've never seen one of those serving dishes but i like it a lot. I'm sure it will get a lot of use.
ReplyDeleteI can't wear night gowns to bed, i get all tangled up in them. I do like them for hanging around before bed though. I just wear a tee shirt to bed.
Enjoyed seeing all of your gifts Vee, Hmm, could it be John got the new radio because a certain someone dressed in a pretty blue flannel nighty wanted one in her sewing room?~grin~ The gift from Temptations is so pretty, love the color and versatility. I think you were a very good girl this year!! Enjoy
ReplyDeleteIf I ave missed a tutorial on your mosaics please let me know if not how about giving me a lesson, I love this one with the snow sledding as a background, great job!
Wishing you and your family a very blessed, and Happy New Year.
Hugs,
Sue
Great gifts you received! Love the nightie :)
ReplyDeleteI bet John can't keep his hands off of you in that nightie. :P
ReplyDeleteI love that serving dish! The colour is just beautiful. I want one too. :)
Are those real apples on your window sill or artificial?
((Hugs))
Laura
darling polka dot nighty! you look so
ReplyDeletecute in it!
you could NEVER break a blog rule in
my book . . . i don't know if i even have
any. maybe, "be kind", which you
ALWAYS are. kinder than i deserve.
happy new year!
Gee, I love the flannel nighty but gave 'em up for hubby 39 years ago next month.
ReplyDeleteYour tree is just beautiful sweetie.
God bless ya and have a fantastic New Year!!! :O)
What a beautiful, comfy nightgown! John does know how to give the perfect gift.
ReplyDeleteI have some of the Temptations pieces and love them. They clean so easily. I don't have this fancy, multi-purpose one you got for Christmas. Looks as if these pieces will be used often. They're bright, pretty and just make you smile, don't they?
The pin cushion is adorable. Did the grands have help selecting it or did they have help making it? Someone knows you'll cherish that special gift.
I, too, love the flannel nightgown! So pretty...and cozy, which I am sure is a necessity in your neck of the woods. I hope you were able to keep it on all day...we all need a pajama day now and then.
ReplyDeleteThe serving piece is great, too. I love pieces that are versatile.
Hope Kitty is "versatile" when the tree comes down. Perhaps she will be ready to move on to another cozy spot by then. Does your cat do that? Periodically change favorite spots?
About the checkerboard trifle...
My mom has made this trifle for years. At first, they were delicious, but not so beautiful. Over the years, however, she has perfected her technique, and favors us with her masterpiece every year. She sometimes quips, "I'll bet everyone is a trifle tired of this trife," and then everyone protests and asks her to please bring it one more year!
Vee,
ReplyDeleteFlannel is wonderful. Which reminds me, I've just washed the flannel sheets and it's time to reapply them....
The serving piece is pretty and versatile.
Wish I had a portable radio....
Off to catch up on your past posts!
I like everything you got. The serving dish is indeed pretty. I love the snugly pretties too. Happy New Year to you and John.
ReplyDeleteQMM
Vee, the more I read the more I like! You and I must be the only people in blogdom who will be looking at their tree on the 12th day of Christmas. I always leave mine up until after the 6th of January, as my mother did. Christmas celebrations aren't over until the Three Kings have arrived.
ReplyDeleteI love your nightie, you saucy blogger! There's nothing like a day spent lounging with tea and a book in one's nightie!
What a grand Christmas all of you had! The sledding looked like a lot of fun... no snow here in Ohio just rain rain rain. Love your new bowl/cakeserver, I haven't seen one yet. Great space saver! And your new flannel looks cozy and comfy Vee. Perfect for after Christmas crash time!!
ReplyDeleteWe had a fabulous holiday weekend! I'm so happy to have all my projects done that were gifts, bet you could hear me sighing from here to there.
Have a happy and blessed New Year Vee! hugs, Sherry
I love what PONDSIDE wrote: you saucy blogger! tee hee! I love that you shared a pic of you in your jammies -which, btw, are adorable! I have a scottie flannel nightie and L.O.V.E. it.
ReplyDeleteHey, I am with you, keep Christmas up for a bit longer.
xxo
Becky
Well, you're being very coy in your blue flannel gown, Vee! Wish I could, wish I might, wear a flannel gown tonight...
ReplyDeleteNo flannel for me, much as I'd like. Not in Texas, not during the winter, not at 55 yrs old and "flashing" at all hours. Also, my husband hates for me to wear so many clothes. Just a long t-shirt for me, friend!
I'll bet John is enjoying his new radio, and you're enjoying your new serving pieces. Pretty color - it would go in my kitchen. Tootles!
Having put up our tree right after Thanksgiving and having it dry out faster than any tree we've ever had, it had to come down today...I almost made it to New Years though...it never would have made it to Epiphany though!
ReplyDeleteI like all your gifts - I love how Sam is going to help you load it when he comes over! What a sweet boy!
The nighty is so nice - how comfy it looks!
Deanna
You got some very nice gifts! Love the Temptations piece, great color. Your nightie is very pretty. I don't wear flannel, I get too hot, but have flannel sheets when it gets Really Cold! I'm interested in John's radio, I like the size of it. Care to tell more about it? If I'm being too nosy, just ignore the question. :D
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend and a Happy New Year!!
You are too much fun....which can be seen by all these comments.
ReplyDeleteLove the everything old is new again...I give my kids a hard time about that.
Enjoy your pj's...that sounds great to me.
Love the pictures...and that dish is both colorful and fun
Hi Vee. you look great in your flannel nightie! Very snuggly!
ReplyDeleteHappy New year!
lovely cozy nightie :) and I think the serving dish is great, haven't seen one before...wonder if I can find one in Canada....
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend
Happy New Year
Niki
How cute you look in your flannel nightie, Vee! I can never find nightgowns that are long enough so I like flannel pj's, and I've been known to stay in mine for a whole day at times.
ReplyDeleteYour gifts are all wonderful!
