Which picture do you prefer? The one above with the blueberries a little further away or the one below with the berries up close and kinda in your personal space? I haven't decided yet. A few days ago, BJ of Sweet Nothings very kindly gave some of her best tips for photography and I am shamelessly copying her or trying to. I'll never be BJ! You can find that information on this post: *The Essence of Sweet Nothings.*
Blueberries are my favorite berries. John's favorites are strawberries. He's recently had his first fresh strawberry shortcake and it is my turn for some blueberry coffee cake. I've been craving blueberries!
Perhaps a bit of cream and sugar, too!
Don't pantry things look pretty on the counter? I had to clean the pantry since our supply was low enough to easily do so. This is the beginning of restocking a bit. Just a beginning...
This is a small embroidery I once did for my sister. I have it now and, like all things I don't know what to do with, it landed in my sewing room or "treasure room."
As of last night, it's looking pretty cleared on this end. John brought up the office chair for me because Debbie said it would work better.
One of the many little projects that has grabbed my attention and prevented me from finishing. It's all their fault!
Good Morning, My favorite shot is the first one. You are making progress in your room. That's a beautiful embroidery piece you made. If you no longer want it as a framed picture, maybe you could make a small pillow or pocket for an apron with it...just a thought. That coffee cake sounds wonderful. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI like the second blueberry shot the best. Love that embroidery.
ReplyDeleteYou're just moving along with organizing and your sewing room looks work friendly. My blueberry coffee cake is all gone so I wish I lived close enough to scoot over for cake and coffee when you bake yours.
ReplyDeleteFood photography is challenging, isn't it? I like the second photo you shared best.
Clever Vee... Love your organizing. I like the far away blueberries best but then that's just me.
ReplyDeleteWell, you probably know I am a sucker for up close and personal objects but both the first and the second pics are great. I especially love to see the "blur" in the background contrasted against the sharpness of the closer objects...so, I guess #2 would be my first pick since the background is a bit blurrier :) I find myself photographing food more and more but definitely need more practice!
ReplyDeleteWell not that I know anything at all about photography, but I prefer the second one...not sure why, it just catches my eye. Blueberry coffee cake sounds soo good...How I would LOVE to come have a piece and a cup of coffee. Bet we could chat the day away. You are going to love the chair! I am still loving mine and only regret I didn't do it sooner. And my mess is soo much easier to clean at the end of the day now too. Your getting there! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteYou're getting 'er done, Vee, yay.
ReplyDeleteYour quilted piece is lovely. And that embroidery piece- sheesh you are seriously talented, lady!
BTW - we recently discovered rinsing off all fresh fruit in a vinegar water solution keeps them fresh twice as long - even raspberries, which seem to have a shelf life of about 20 minutes, haha.
Nev er had bb coffee cake, sounds delish!!!! I have a bb tea that I make in the summertime, now may have to make it, haven't in a few weeks. Hugs.
I think I like the second blueberry shot the best. They look so plump and tasty. Enjoy your coffee cake!
ReplyDeleteI like the blueberries up close. And I had some on my oatmeal this morning...so good! I use a desk chair for sewing, too and it works so great. Another tip....remove the arms. They are usually easy to take off and will make working easier. Enjoy your day and your berries! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteOh Vee, I've just come in from watering the garden, and I could sure use a coffee and some blueberry coffeecake - I'll be right over!! (I wish...)
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh Blueberry Coffee Cake, yummy!! Thanks for the smiles today. Blessings
ReplyDeleteLove strawberries, blueberries and blackberries....I haven't had breakfast yet so ...now I am hungry for berries and nary a one in sight. hmmmm, what will it be this morning??
ReplyDeleteThank you for the shout out. Sometimes, depending on the subject, the REALLY close ones nearly knock you out of your seat but others are wonderful...your "upclose" one is wonderful. :)
That is not fair...you tempting me with a trip to Maine and blueberry coffee cake and a hot cup of coffee and a long chat with you. (And, of course, I would slip on over for a visit with my Maine family while I was there.) So now how in the world will I be content to just go in the laundry room/pantry/storage and clean and organize stuff? (How do you like the fact that I turned your suggestion into an excuse to avoid my needed tasks? Clever of me, isn't it? Or pitiful?)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your coffee cake and your blueberries and this late summer day! Hugs...
I like the blueberries up close too! I am going to borrow these tips as well! Thanks Vee and BJ!

I love your cozy, sewing room. I am trying to get my brain organized, rather than a room, so that I can start getting projects done! I like your sewing project too, and your stitchery that you gave your sister - it's lovely.
Deanna
Gee, so much to talk about today!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I like the first photos.
I love blueberries too. I prefer to pick the ground blueberries, I've found them sweeter than the bush blueberries.
And I thought Debbie's ideas were very practical sewing tips too. You're way ahead of me in actually implementing them.
Lastly, I love your colour combinations for your mini quilt. It's turned out beautifully. Is it for the table?
The first photos plural or the first photo? That is the question! ☺
DeleteI agree, wild berries are far more tasty, but the bush berries are far easier for me to pick. I did pick these. We're going back to pick more in a day or two. Now I want pie!
Both photos are really appealing, but I like the first best of all.
ReplyDeleteI'm a blueberry-lover too. Blueberry Pie, blueberries on cereal, blueberries by the handful!
I'm a fan of the first photo. The plate underneath the berries is so pretty. Blueberries are my favourite berries, too - I freeze bags of them for the winter and eat them with yogurt for breakfast. Yum, yum, yum.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to stop by for a slice of warm blueberry cake. May I have tea in place of coffee? I'd love to chat.
I love blueberries- plain - in muffins - in cake - anytime - anywhere. And why do they find out when something is good for you - they raise the price?!
ReplyDeleteThe close-up blueberry photo is my preference; I think it adds interest to the photo to have part of it "out of the frame" if you know what I mean. Enjoy your blueberry coffeecake, and if I lived closer I would certainly accept your invitation!
ReplyDeleteYou are going into full action and I'm just starting to get a grip on the day. I like the farther away photo for some reason. My days are not my own again as my kids (Katie and Andrew) arrived here at 12:30 am and now we are getting settled together as we map out what the next few weeks will look like around here. Have a great Wednesday, Vee. I know you'll enjoy that Blueberry coffee cake!
ReplyDeleteTough decision as both photos are lovely, however I am going with #1. I think it's because I get to see more of the pretty plate. The berries in both look so tempting I nearly reached into the screen to sample a few. Instead I think I'll head over for the coffee and coffee cake offer. Yummy... sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt seems you are working awfully hard over there and a coffee break is well-deserved.
Pic #2 for me - more focus on the blueberries which are the subject of the shot, with still enough of the pretty plate and background showing to soften the container. Great shot Vee - you did really well in capturing such perfect 'blues', and they are so good for us!
ReplyDeleteHappy day - Mary
I like the close up blueberry photo. Yum! The sewing room is looking spiffy, and I love the colors of the little quilted piece :>)
ReplyDeleteYour sewing room sounds like mine ... everything that I don't know what to do with ends up there too! I dream of an organized space but just can't seem to get there. I'll be there for coffee and cake. :)
ReplyDeleteWho is this cute gal? Love this new profile pic! You look mahvelous!
DeleteI like the blueberries close up photo better. Love your sewing room, good idea to put the iron close to the machine to save the up/down. I have a cutting mat (self healing) one side and the other is padded to iron on. Absolute best invention. I recognize the pincushion in your new header. Blueberries are my favorite summertime fruit. Bill likes strawberries and cherries.
ReplyDeleteI like the first photo better. Did you smash the blueberries before making the cake? For some reason I don't like to bite into a whole berry..
ReplyDeleteI know. I like to make blueberry muffins when our oldest son is here. He loves then. My daughter is going to be here tonight and the next few days. She's a neatnick. I feel like I should clean the refrigerator, but she's going to just have to live with it.
Smash the berries? Horrors! No. Does this mean you won't be over?
DeleteMy daughter snoops for dates in my fridge. If she'd like to clean it, I'd let her. = )
Tell your daughter there are easier places to find a good date.
DeleteBlueberries are also my favorite berries! I could eat them every day and I'm thrilled they are supposed to be so healthy. I made a blueberry lemon yogurt cake yesterday--the recipe is inan old blog post--so good as it is really moist and flavorful!
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks beautiful, Vee. Glad you have that pretty embroidery back.
I like the first photo better. I love blueberries (more than strawberries). Blueberry coffee cake sounds so good. My daughter is making some cinnamon coffee cake right now and I wish I had some blueberries to throw in there. Do you grow blueberries? They're a really pretty bush in the spring and here don't lose their leaves until winter.
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 photo is the one I like best.
ReplyDeleteI like blueberries too but like John strawberries are my favorites.
Yes, I like the pantry items too.
I like the look of your sewing room - looks like a lot of work gets done there and your surrounded by things you love.
I made fudge today. : )
I like the second one of the blueberries better, but think centered in the photo. I love the up-close, but they'd just be closer if centered. (I must be hungry!)
ReplyDeleteYour sewing room looks lovely. I once had a room like that. . .just for my treasures. It's special and you feel hugged when you walk in there, don't you?
I like the first photo -- I don't think this helps you much Vee as the votes appear to be about 50/50. I love your craft room, looks so cozy. the embroidered piece is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou're baking blueberry coffee cake and DIDN'T call me!!?? Well! *lol* Sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI kinda like the upclose pic best. It's more artistic.
If that's the sewing room, it's looking organized. Good show! ~:)
As I clicked on the post I thought.......oh how beautiful the blueberries are, so either is great. I love blueberries.
ReplyDeleteYour sewing is great! Sewing room organized...LOL, then that means I am not sewing!
Bj takes the most delightful food photos, doesn't she? And she always gets an A+ for enthusiasm too! I really like both of those blueberry closeup photos. Well done! And the fabrics for your sewing project are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWe here could make everyday a blueberry day . Papa and I love anything blueberry ! Lovely sewing room . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteI love blueberries too and anything with them baked in it. Your sewing room intrigues me and I believe a person could spend a lot of time there just 'looking' and discover many treasures that are memories. I think I like the farther photo of the blueberries because the plate is so pretty. Sending hugs. Pam
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd get that sewing room in shape! Congrats! Feels great doesn't it? It's a blueberry bumper crop here in the grey cottage! I've been making a nice blueberry streusel coffee cake for us and for the church ladies ... and there are still blueberries for the freezer! I like your first shot dearie!
ReplyDeleteIn about 72 hours I will be enjoying those Maine blueberries and ..........lobster roll!
ReplyDeleteI like the first one.....but what do I know about photography? What I LOVE is your sewing room!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is AWESOME!!! I love all berries!!! Louis Dean ventured out to Sam's today while I was in Quadville and I
discovered fresh strawberries in the fridge tonight when I got home. Guess he didn't notice I already had the last ones he bought sliced up and sugar coated in a Tupperware dish! Since strawberries are HIS favorite he thinks they are mine as well. So they are. Amber feeds her quads raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and just a smattering of the 'regular' fruits - oranges, bananas and apples.
I enjoyed that same post from BJ. One of my favorite things about her blog is the way she photographs her food. I had to keep looking back and forth at the two blueberry shots to even SEE the difference because it was so subtle. I think I like the one that is just a little further away.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter, though. I just happen to love blueberries so I liked them both. We planted some at our first house, and I often wonder if the current owners are getting a bounty. I would love some bushes here, but it's hard to get anything to grown under the piney sticks. Your sewing space is coming along nicely. I have just taken step one in my own sewing space, and that's the step of trying to get my old clunky sewing machine fixed so that I have a way to sew in any space. Since I'm basically a straight seam kind of girl, I don't need much space. Still, I have always liked the look of a well organized one.
I know I'm too late to vote...but I'll say 'up close'. :) I'll come for coffee and blueberry cake. I remember that cake well. Here's the funny thing. I never used to care for blueberries...and now I love 'em!
ReplyDeleteVee, I have to tell you first thing that your wallpaper is the very same that my mom had in her kitchen at their previous home (the house I grew up in). I've always loved that wallpaper. :) Second, I LOVE the picture you embroidered -- the flowers are gorgeous! I love, love crewel embroidery, so I do hope you won't get rid of the picture. :) Your sewing room looks very nice; I don't have one at all, so I'm impressed with yours. About the blueberry pictures; I can't decide. I know that's silly, but I keep changing my mind. I love to eat blueberries, and I happen to think they're a really pretty fruit, as well.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post, Vee, and have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Such a pretty quilt!! Are you using those charm squares? I just purchased some and can't wait to get sewing. My sewing room or should I say not sewing room is all over the house - ugh!
