A Haven for Vee

Time Keeps Slipping Away

Thanksgiving is coming in just two days. Two?!! I think I'll just keel over now. Time is definitely running out and I'm beginning to run around like the proverbial chicken with her head cut off. Now that really is an unfortunate simile given the holiday. ;>

Let's see, the silver has been cleaned.

Its case has been fixed.

The painter cloths that I'll be using for tablecloths are in the washer. (Yes, I did make those drapes and they came out great. I may become the painter cloth queen if I keep coming up with things to do with them.)

The china still needs washing; the house still needs cleaning; the baking still needs doing; and I'm sure that I'm forgetting something. Oh, but I didn't forget the turkey as that's been thawing since Saturday. Yes, of course, in the refrigerator!

Speaking of time running out...CurtissAnn, where are you? If this winner doesn't come forward by seven tonight EST, I'll be drawing another name. Joy, your package is on its way!

Hoping that this evening I'll be able to sit down, put my feet up, and have the time to enjoy a relaxing moment. Hope that you all do, too!

  3. Whew, I know just what you mean. I baked 3 pumpkin rolls yesterday and delivered them and today I'll bake pies and pumpkin bread and make my cranberries.

  4. I know what you mean...I am hosting Thanksgiving this year at our house, and I washed the china, but decided not to polish the silver! Although I figured out that we don't have enough glasses that match so I have to go out and buy some! Plus my long list of cooking tomorrow, and laundry today...I need another day! *smiles*

  6. I'll be thinking of you as you scramble about these next few days...and I'll be thankful that we celebrated Thanksgiving way back in October! I'm in the countdown for Christmas...and feel like I'm running out of time.

Enjoy your preparations! As we know, 'it' always happens...even if a few things get left un-done (no one notices!).

  7. Here I am at work in denial. 25 folks will sit down to dinner at my house on Thursday. No time to sparkle the silver but I am determined to use real plates and napkins. My paper-loving family will think I've lost my mind! Have a blessed day, Vee. Oh, and the cabinet in your header? Fabulous! ~Kathy

  9. Hi Vee,

I love your turkey plate its so festive. There is always so much to do before a big family dinner, but that's all part of the fun.
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day,

  11. The candlelit vignette is just stunning. Really, it makes me want to curl up in front of the fireplace. Unfortunately we don't have any wood to burn....that is, unless I chop up the Other Mother's old TV set that sits useless in my living room. Yeah.... that's what I'm going to do. See what you've done Vee.

  13. Hi Vee!
I've been baking up a storm the past few days and I'm not even hosting Thanksgiving this year! I'm bringing a baked ziti and pumpkin muffins to my brother and sister-in-law's, and I baked for my daughter so she could bring something to her boyfriend's family, and I baked for my Mom to give her a Thanksgiving gift. I'm pooped but my house smells so good --like cinnamon! :-)

Hope you and John and your entire family have a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

    Hugs, Pat

  18. You and I are in the same boat...the more stuff I have to do, the less that seems to get done. I have to bake pies tonight, I have to get presents wrapped, I have to get the guest room cleaned up and made, I have to vacuum the 40 pounds of dog hair off the living room carpet, I have to...well, I guess talking about it all isn't helping me get it done, now is it? lol

I'm fixing to head to my WW meeting, then on to Wal-Mart (again - for the 3rd time this week!!), then home to get started on all the things I need to get done. Whew. It's going to be a rough day.

Hope you guys have a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving!!!

    Kari
