One of my favorite words is abide. We are abiding today...resting, praying, believing, trusting, and hoping, too.
This little quote has brought much comfort in the past few days...
Although it seems safe and logical to be in charge of your life, being in charge becomes a heavy, lonely responsibility. Your Father graciously offers to take your life, protect you, strengthen you, and comfort you on your journey. You need not fear relinquishment, for it leads to freedom, security, and the real you. ~Cynthia Heald
Doesn't Cynthia have a great surname? ;>
Somehow abiding on a rainy day seems more cozy. Perhaps I'll bake.
Create yourself a wonderful day...
Beautiful quote! I will share it with my Bible study group as it fits perfectly with the discussion we had this week! Thinking of you and your family today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to start the day. It is also raining in my neck of the woods.I need to sit down and paint.

Great thought. I have been fearful of feeling that I MUST take charge of my life...this brings a focused reminder that it is not I, but He, who is in charge. What a secure thought!!
ReplyDeleteAll my best wishes are with you today, Dear Friend.
ReplyDeleteGentle hugs,
Aunt Amelia
What a beautiful post. I pray your grandmother and mom are doing better today.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cathie
I once knew a Monique Heald, lovely name.
ReplyDeleteSending best wishes,

HI Vee,

Hugs,
Sue
Thank you for sharing that thought! I need reminding of it daily. I hope you have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteDear Vee, still praying for you....a few years ago, I had the opportunity to hear Cynthia Heald at a retreat and meet her personally. What a warm and friendly woman. Her Bible studies and books have been a blessing to me. Your blog too--today's quote speaks to my day today. I hope you have a warm, cozy day, remembering we are thinking of you and praying you find comfort under His wing. ~Kathy
ReplyDeleteWonderful quote! You abide...I'll be thinking of you in a special way today.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Vee! You have picked such a lovely thought for us to focus on as the weekend approaches. Abiding is something we should all spend a bit more time doing.
ReplyDeleteI hope your mother and grandmother are feeling better!
Hugs,
Jennifer
Wishing you a wonderful day Vee, even if it is raining! I plan on baking today too, although they say it might get near 80 degrees! :)
ReplyDeleteThere is no better place to abide than in the comfort of the Almighty's arms.
ReplyDeleteHope your quiet reflectful day is sweet in His presence.
I think that is wonderful quote too!
ReplyDeletePray all is going well for your mom and grandmother.
A foggy morning here by me.
A beautiful and comforting quote. I continue to keep you, your mom and grandmother in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHave Faith...and visit my blog! We are having rainy days, too!
ReplyDeleteOH Vee .. .I trust that all will sort itself out. . .soon ..very soon. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteVee,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you ran over and did not find what you were looking for, I will post on it tomorrow.
I love this post! I think I need to borrow your favorite word and make it my new favorite word. Thank you for letting me feast on your food for thought.
Wonderful quote. I'll abide with you today because it's cold and damp in northern Illinois.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother often used the word abide but in another context. Speaking of someone she would say, "I don't abide him." meaning I don't put up with him.
Thinking of you today.
Thinking of you, your Mom and your Nan today. *hugs*
ReplyDeletePraying for you...
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful - Abide - Rest- Pray and BAKE !
ReplyDeleteThe quote was lovely - thanks - and have a peaceful, loving day :-)
I could almost believe you posted this just for me. :) God knows I need to relinquish, now more than ever. I've held too much too close and have managed to make myself a very solitary figure. And that's just not what life is supposed to be about, now is it?
ReplyDeleteI've missed visiting with you. For my own sake, I think I need to get back into interacting with others more. You've given me some wonderful words over the past couple of months and I think I'm finally focused enough to pay attention to them. Thanks for hanging with me.
I'll be back soon (although not until next week - I'll be out of town this weekend and away from a computer!).
Kari
Beautiful Vee!Hope you have a great evening! Blessings, Faye
ReplyDeleteAbiding --- a faith-building way to spend the day. And abiding in Him --- even more so. I know you were doing both, and I hope you were blessed by it.
ReplyDeletePraying for your loved ones!

Another thought --- along with "abiding" I appreciate the phrase "waiting upon Him" which seems to dovetail so well.

Praying along with you, Vee! Hope all went well.
