My aunt once had a visitor exclaim over a collection, "Oh! You collect cows!"
"No," my aunt replied, "My sister-in-law just thinks that I do."
Berry Apron with Blueberries and Blueberry Scented Candles
That's pretty much how it is with me. My mother (my aunt's sister-in-law) thinks that I collect blueberries. My sister does, too. So I have quite a few blueberry-related items about.
Blueberry Mugs
Now I am not denying that I love blueberries, especially wild Maine ones. If you've never eaten a wild blueberry, you are definitely missing out. Not wanting you to miss out, I'll let you know before this post is over what you can do about it. Heck, I even missed out this season and I live here!
Blueberry Bean Pot
I've never used the blueberry bean pot. Seems like a lot of mixed metaphors there. Anyway, its home is on the second shelf of the telephone table and there I keep it very well. Talk about mixed metaphors! Beans, berries, and now pumpkins?
So this is the message of the day: If you don't have access to wild blueberry fields, you can go to your local grocery and get some of these...
Have a great weekend now...
Made me laugh...yes, funny how other people can decide what you will collect!
ReplyDeleteLOL....yes, I know if you mention you like something and you have one or two of them, it is certain that you will receive it every birthday, Christmas and visit!
ReplyDeleteLove that blueberry apron!
Hugs,
Penny
Could I just add right here and now that I don't collect snowmen any more...in case some of MY relatives are reading! heeheehee! It's funny...but I guess it gets to be easy to find another snowman than something else! Maybe I should collect blueberries! They are in season around here right now and just wonderful! I buy frozen when they aren't...I'll look for this brand! Thanks! Happy collecting! lol ♥
ReplyDeleteI had to go back and look after I read Penny's comment! I LOVE the berry apron! Very cute! Did I tell you I collect berry aprons! heeheehee! ♥
ReplyDeleteDo you make blueberry muffins? I'll send my hubby over for some and a cup of coffee. He knows I don't like the smell of blueberries. Aren't I silly! I love the look of them!
ReplyDeleteThank you for signing on as a follower on my blog today!
Hugs,
Diane
I'll look for those, Vee. Not sure if I've seen 'em around here. We grow lots of blueberries down here in east Texas, but I'm sure that wild Maines are the best! Hopefully I'll get to have some real ones someday picked by ME!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, friend, and eat something blueberry!
I collect everything so I'll take whatever anybody gives me! :-)
ReplyDeleteI do like blueberries and will look for this.
So funny...but then, now you do collect blueberry items, even if it just as gifts. I collect Roosters the same way...and for a while, lighthouses.
ReplyDeleteBecky K.
Mmmm blueberries. Even though you don't collect them, they're still pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love all kinds of blueberries and I know that Maine's wild blueberries are very flavorful!
ReplyDeleteMy family mutually decided to give birthday and holiday gifts only to the children in the family, so if the adults have collections they are are of our own making..lol
LOL!! That's too funny! I'm afraid we did that to MIL. She had a few elephant things and we could never figure out what to get her so every Christmas and Birthday we'd get her something elephant. One year we even found and elephan side table! I never really knew if she liked all those elephant things or if she was just being nice about it!
ReplyDeleteManuela
P.S. Right now I'm getting tons of blueberries from our own bushes. They're really easy to grow!
That's so funny. My cousin thinks my mom collects cows too. She's given her all kinds of things. Blueberries are a different kind of collectible for here. Wonder who I can think of that would like to start a blueberry collection!?!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I love blueberries. I love all of your blueberry related things. This is my favorite time of year because all of the fruit seems to be in season. I hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was convinced I loved owls when I was growing up. I still have the collection to prove it. It could have been worse. She thought my sister collected kangaroos!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a fresh wild blueberry, warm from the sun. I could eat some right now! My father-in-law picks me cultivated and while they are tasty, they do not have the same appeal as their wild cousins. Have a great weekend! Kathy
Oooh I bet those candles smell wonderful and I really like the mugs. I guess today is unofficial blueberry day :)
ReplyDeleteI kept trying to convince people that I collect teapots and had no luck for the longest time. Evidently the one teapot I owned didn't look like a collection. Over time (years and years), a couple of people picked up on the hint so now I have 3. =)
ReplyDeleteI suppose there are worse things they could think you collect! Funny post :-) I have fresh blueberries in the fridge crying to be eaten. I've done muffins..gotta go search right now for something else to make. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Would you believe that the couple who owns that beautiful garden *supposedly* doesn't hire anyone to help? I can imagine they have plenty of volunteers though.
ReplyDeleteNice post about the delights and tastes of summer. Had many a pleasant summer day out collecting wild blueberries around our property and as you say there is nothing like the taste of the real thing.
ReplyDeleteToo funny. I suspect that is true of a lot of collections.
ReplyDeleteAs I sit hear eating my yogurt topped with blueberries, strawberries and blackberres, I am thinking this a most appropriate post. I have heard that the wild blueberries are the healthiest choice. We have bought frozen bags of them and enjoyed using them in pancakes or on oatmeal in the winter.
Love your apron and mugs.
We have a dairy farm...so I collected cows...but not by my own decision. The cows are mostly packed away...as I think cows look much nicer out in the field...or in the barn.
ReplyDeleteBut blueberries...that's a fun theme!
