I Believe in Love

I don't believe in superstars,
Organic food and foreign cars.
I don't believe the price of gold;
The certainty of growing old.
That right is right and left is wrong,
That north and south can't get along.
That east is east and west is west.
And being first is always best.

But I believe in love.
I believe in babies.
I believe in Mom and Dad.
And I believe in you.

Well, I don't believe that heaven waits,
For only those who congregate.
I like to think of God as love:
He's down below, He's up above.
He's watching people everywhere.
He knows who does and doesn't care.
And I'm an ordinary man,
Sometimes I wonder who I am.

But I believe in love.
I believe in music.
I believe in magic.
And I believe in you.

Well, I know with all my certainty,
What's going on with you and me,
Is a good thing.
It's true, I believe in you.

I don't believe virginity,
Is as common as it used to be.
In working days and sleeping nights,
That black is black and white is white.
That Superman and Robin Hood,
Are still alive in Hollywood.
That gasoline's in short supply,
The rising cost of getting by.

But I believe in love.
I believe in old folks.
I believe in children.
I believe in you.

But I believe in love.
I believe in babies.
I believe in Mom and Dad.
And I believe in you.

Yes, well, that pretty much sums up my philosophy with a few extras tucked in and a few left off. This is one of John's favorites and he's still likely to grab me by the hand and whirl me around in a little sway dance, to which this song easily lends itself. Perhaps you and your beloved will give it a whirl this weekend yourselves.

And that's why you hear it playing on my playlist this weekend (and only this weekend as I usually keep the playlist turned off). Scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the off button if you don't want to listen. ♫ music

Have a great Saturday and enjoy those Olympic games!

  1. Good morning Vee! Now were you really up this early or did you just schedule this post??? =o) It's my turn to have the crud, so I thought I'd check on my peeps since I can't sleep...

Great old love song. I like it, too. I don't think I've heard it in awhile tho. I hope you have a great Valentine's Day, and get to have some "sweetie time" with your sweetie and do some twirlin' around!

  3. You did it! You got me to turn on the volume. The speakers in this laptop are so bad that I keep them off most of the time. That's why I quit having music most of the time. I loved it while I was using the computer downstairs...but this one.
    Not so much!

    Great song.

  4. I meant to tell you before now, but the other day I accidentally had the speakers on and caught your play list for the first time. SO, I left it on while I washed the dishes and puttered around the kitchen. Hadn't heard this song (and a few of the others) in years. I have always loved this song. THANK YOU! Hugs and prayers.

  9. Oh, I do love that song. It does make you want to grab your sweetie and hold them close:-)

Hey, to answer your question about the fence. It has wire behind it, which is what I would have to do as well, to keep out the critters.

  15. Wow, that Don Williams song is a sweet old favorite of mine. Haven't heard it in years and it really gave me goosebumps when it start playing unexpectedly. That's one I need to add to my iTunes playlist.

  16. As usual, I am catching up from a few posts. I had wondered how you were managing with having your Nan in your home. I remember when my m-i-l brought her mother to live with them. At first things were very smooth, and Grandma was really a lot of help. But as she got sicker with rheumatoid arthritis and unable to care for herself, my m-i-l sometimes felt like all she did was sit around and think of errands for her to run or things to do for her. She also had a bell to ring when she needed something. It was tough. It is good for you to get away, so that you can get fresh perspective and a change of scenery. I imagine it is especially hard on you as a relative newlywed. I will pray for you. I am glad to know others are, as well.

    Be blessed,
    Christi
