Deeply Grateful

At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
~Albert Schweitzer

Your friends will know you better in the first minute they meet you than your acquaintances will know you in a thousand years.

Pleasant words are a banana split and a hot fudge/caramel sundae and healing to the bones if not to the hips.

Both John and I wish to thank everyone for the sweet comments and the support that has been shown over the past several days. He tells me that he now understands my love for Blogdom and so many of you.

I am not sure what it is about the community of friendship that has been created here and why it doesn't exist in my real life. Perhaps someone with a background in psychology could explain it to me. All I know is that without you, I'd be diminished.

Have a wonderful, blessed Sunday for it is the beginning of another delicious week!

  1. Vee,

I'm so very happy for you and John. It's wonderful when you fall in love with someone you've known for years...and that lightening bolt strikes all of a sudden.

    Hugs,

  2. What a wonderful choice of quotes and biblical verse for today.I don't know about the psychology of the internet community. Perhaps it has something to do with the face that because we can't see others face-to-face we don't make unconscious judgements about them based on any number of factors.

I'm wondering about the psychology of what's transpired in your life in the last 6 months. I know you felt something brewing, change a-comin' - something. I felt you were standing on the edge of moving forward. Did you ever imagine consciously that this was coming?

I'm very, very happy for you and John. You will never know who this story might help. Someone may be teetering on the edge of trust. You just nudged them over.

  3. Oh wow, doesn't that hot fudge sundee look good!!!

I agree with what suzanne said and also I think when people read our posts they really hear what we are saying. We can't be interrupted before we have finished saying all that we want to.

  4. Oh my goodness!!! I knew it, I just knew it somehow that this was what you where hinting at. Congratulations. I am so happy for you. I thought it was beautiful how you described being in love when you said you "discovered you could fly".. I truly believe the soul fully blossoms when one is in love.
    Best wishes.

  6. I have no explanation for the 'community of friendship', Vee...but it's wonderful thing!

I'm just wondering if you two are soon going to be eating those yummy ice-cream treats anytime soon...they are melting!

  7. Quick! Eat them before they melt much more! Go on...we'll wait! : )
I can only tell you that this community that we have all been blessed with being a part of brings something to my life that was/is missing. I can't tell you the psychology involved, nor do I know that I want to know it. I just am happy we've all come to know one another! Blessings to you and John!

  11. It works, and that is all I need to know. We are all different ages, backgrounds, you name it - we are a polyglot community and we work! Hurrah for us!

I, too, am immeasurably blessed by my connections in this small corner of blogdom. My friends add a wonderful new dimension to my life.

  12. The biggest reason for finding more like minded folks or folks with similar interests...could be that we have the whole world to choose from on here....whereas, at home... we have a small cul de sac..or workplace...or town..or even city..but never get to meet too many of the people we might wish to garner or cultivate as friends.......

  13. Vee,
I love your gypsy wagon on the sidebar! Is this how the newlyweds will be traveling?

The quote by Alert Schweitzer rings a bell with me today. Thanks for always being that little spark!

Hurry and eat your ice cream, it's melting!

  15. I am so happy for you and John. You have shared so many kind words and given a part of your life in your blog and to me that helps me to feel that I know you. Blogdom is a world that I am so glad I entered into. I have met the most wonderful people. I think I was so limited sometimes in the people I came in contact with. This is like a whole different world has opened up. Also, I find the sweet people I have met in blogdom seem so sincere. God bless you and I wish you the best!

  16. Vee, OMGOSH...I've been away from blogland for only two weeks, and I'm probably the last one to find out about John!

Well, I'm so thrilled for you and your new love. He looks so charming and by reading your recent posts I can sense you are a woman in LOVE. So very happy for you. God is good and so faithful to give us the desires of our heart.

    Good catching up with you...

  19. You gals are so kind and good to me! I love reading what you have to say and thank you so much for your sweet comments!!

Suzanne, yes, I certainly have recognized that life was going to change. Did I know that it was going to change in this way? No. Not at all. On the anniversary of my first husband's death in early May, I was deep in despair. I think I'd been too busy singing the phrase "I've Had a Love of My Own" from "Hello Young Lovers" (The King and I) to recognize what was right here all along. So I am taking that why-not-this-man thought as from the Lord. Thanks for your kind comment about helping someone to trust again. I think I serve better as a bad example. No one should be as fearful as I was for that long!

Happyone, both John and I were nodding as we read your comment. It is so true that we get interrupted and we interrupt all too often. I'm going to make every effort to apply that nugget of truth to my life from now on.

LOL about the melting ice cream...it was hot, humid, and hazy in Vermont all the time we were there, which leads to the next question about a photograph of the two of us. Maybe, but you know how vain I am and I looked like a wreck... My hair! Ackkkk... I looked ever so much worse than that melting ice cream.

Brenda, it might be like a little piece of Heaven...you think?

Thanks for mentioning the playlist, Dawn and Cindy. I didn't know if anyone had had a listen. It's really much longer, but some songs aren't offered at both sites. My current favorite one is an Eddy Arnold song called "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye."

About the "Just Married" sign...click on it and see what happens. I've always been enchanted by Vardos.

A word from the man himself? He did write a little something back along, which surprised me. He'll have to decide these things for himself.

Off for another whirl around the dance floor!

  20. Okay, so I take a break; I painted my bedroom, bought a new car, entertained some out of town guests, blah, blah, blah...and what do you do? You run off and get married. What can I say to that, except: CONGRATULATIONS!!!, you wild woman! lol
What exciting and fantastic news! I'm so very happy for you, truly. Who knew our Vee could be so romantic, eh? I think it's absolutely wonderful and I couldn't be more pleased for you both. Now I'll try to chill out on my own personal issues so that I can better keep up with the happenings in BlogLand. lol

Congratulations again, to both of you!!
