Good thing that we went with Christmas Lite this year. I shudder to think how long it would take with Christmas Full-Tilt. I've been at this packing up of Christmas since early morning and am not done yet. Lights? Pine Cones? Mercury glass tree? Those? Told you that I can't put all of Christmas away. =)
And what are you up to this fine Saturday?
We are having a rare quiet at home Saturday. We spent a while watching a Muppets DVD that we received for Christmas and laughed together and I am making chocolate melters as well as cleaning here and there. Just a delightfully stressless day.
ReplyDeleteShould take the Christmas tree down....but I think it will wait a bit longer.
I still have the tree and all paraphernalia to deal with when I get home. Slight miscalculation on my part. Groan.
ReplyDeleteMe? I have bee on a walk in the snow. As one does. Now I am watchign my sister pack away Christmas here. "Helping".
Sigh. I did not check the spelling. Sorry! (Typos!!)
ReplyDeleteYour place looks warm and cozy, as usual. :)
ReplyDeleteI did some cleaning today and am now listening to my kids fight as they play some silly video game.
When Seb gets home from work, we will be going OUT for dinner! Whoo Hoo! :)
((Hugs))
Laura
I see you have snow which means you must keep a bit of Christmas cheer going. I used to leave all of my snowmen up until Valentine's Day when I lived in Michigan.
ReplyDeleteHang in there it will be packed away sooner or later and the feeling is so satisfying once it is.
I have spent a good portion of the afternoon dismantling the spare fridge (in the garage) and washing it down shelf by shelf. A dreaded job, but loooong past due.
It does always seem 'dull' or I like to say 'barren' after the Christmas decor is all put away. I do kind of like the restfulness of it for a while, then slowly bring back the layers of treasures.
ReplyDeleteToday, I went into the store with Lindsay for a brief time, ran an errand, took Rachel and Sarah's friends home and visited with their parents, came home to deal with mail and some dishes and now am trying to decide what to make for dinner. We'll all be home together tonight!

Having bought new storage containers for this year, I finally got the bins hauled out to our "barn"...(hubby's car shop, where I have a storage closet.) I think I have enough decorations to open up a shop! Definitely going to have to thin things out...
ReplyDeleteI've just puttered and moved stuff from one table top to another....a half-hearted attempt at tidying! I need to take a week off just to clean!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very busy day for you. We've been busy around here, too. Booked a space for the rehearsal dinner, Dear and Josh picked up new mattresses for Guest room #2, Laura and I put all the linens on the new guest bed, made a turkey mish mosh soup for us and my sister and her husband...and now I'm just vegging and getting caught up on blogs! Sorry about your spammers!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I did last weekend. And I decorated EXTRA light this year. I about killed myself putting it all away and carting off the boxes to our upstairs storage room. (DH not helping because of the hip replacement recovery.) Egads. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't working during the week, but I really hate to spend my precious weekends rearranging cr## in my own home, LOL.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures always look so nice and cozy! It is 48 degrees here today so we are getting outside to burn off some steam. The kids are riding the gocart (i'm taking pictures for our picture journal), hubby is working on his sermon for tomorrow, then there is laundry, i'm making some chicken salad for sandwiches this week, prepping for dinner (today and tomorrow), not really getting into big of a hurry... taking it slow. I keep clear lights on my mantle all year because I like the nice soft glow they give the room.
ReplyDeleteTree is down and out. Hubby basically did it all by himself, even though I said wait and I will be right down as I was getting ready this morning. He did not wait and when I did get down lights were coming off and then a sister called. As I was talking, the tree was drug/dragged out of the house. Half of it, literally, spread from where it sat for it's time in the house to the exit point and across the yard. So my afternoon time was spent cleaning up the pine needles! Aren't you glad you asked?
ReplyDeleteVee, your home always looks like one in a magazine, so warming.
ReplyDeleteWe have been enjoying the warm temps. and organizing the garage, which means putting the decorations away.
Read your last post. thanks for bringing this to your readers attention,I'm happy to report this site is now down.
hugs,
Sue
It's a quiet day in our little abode. There's not much housekeeping to do here. I'll enjoy this compact living for this month, but by Feb 1, I'll be ready to move into more spacious digs.
ReplyDeleteSo, we went for a long walk. In the gray. A bit of drizzle.
And now we're each on our respective computers - he's looking at boats and vehicles, I look at blogs and recipes and Pinterest.
Oh I was still packing up the last of Christmas also and storing the tubs with hubby. BUT first I wanted to look in all the other tubs that were there that I haven't peered into since we moved here 1 1/2 yrs ago. Who knew what was in them... well of course I found many treasures that came INTO the house! But we did eliminate 3 big tubs of stuff. The National Kidney Foundation is coming this week, perfect timing!! So as you can see we've been in a "snowball" M.O. one thing leads to another. The downstairs is still a mess but no one else will see it... I hope. That's it for my ramblings. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sherry
i've been working on putting away things since Wednesday. Nothing's left but our beautiful Christmas tree, Today's the day, but I really will miss it - I always do!
ReplyDeleteI walked of course : ) and then spent the rest of the morning reading. Afternoon Ken and I did errands.

Ohhh and I don't disagree with you, about "TROLLS," on the Net. They stink! They are mean and nasty and a lot like "Mr. Grinch." So there. -pout-

Hello sweet Vee,
ReplyDelete(You closed the comments....but I am still commenting....tee hee)! Don't be so hard on yourself. There are plenty of people who are out to make blogland a scary place. Your site is wonderful and full of inspiration! I would love it if you stopped by today for the impossiblity challenge!
We were gone for a week. It was so welcoming to come home to my "Christmassy" house, but now, I do have to dismantel as well. Slowly, as you say, putting memories as well as ornaments in their proper places; some in boxes, some in my heart and all to remain in my mind's eye for years to come.
ReplyDeleteYour touches around the house, the way you warm up your spaces...very welcoming. I love the hung tea cups on the window frame. Great ideas.
