Yes, I am very aware that commenting has become more and more of a challenge. This is especially true of those who use the new interface. I do not. See my apology at the top of my sidebar to the right.
So between Google and Blogger, there's a whole lot of shaking going on. It makes me wonder what the ultimate goal is. As I tend toward paranoia, I can't help but wonder if they wish to winnow those who enjoy blogging. It may be time to make some plans.
This was the story of our day yesterday. Note the time at the end of the video. It went on for another three hours and John is still not finished. So, no movie yesterday and no movie today, perhaps tomorrow.
I paid careful attention to your suggestions. I listened when you said that you didn't like wires showing as they do when hanging a flat screen on the wall. We had intended to hang it on the wall. (And, if we hung it on the wall, where would we put the dvd?) I listened when you said that the tv had to sit higher than it did on the trunk. So those two things were addressed.
This is rather a mess in reflections and light washing in from the windows. Still, it shows where John's chair is in relation to the tv...that had been one of the questions...and where my chair is (which you can not see) behind the hassock there. The tv is as high on the wall as we were going to hang it. When I don't have to worry about tools all over the floor and carpets pulled back, I'll show one final photo.
That's it from our cold corner. How are things with you?
I need to go read about the google thingy....
ReplyDeleteI can imagine you are looking forward to the TV being in it's place and the house back in order....
Hugs,
Penny
Well - I've always known that blogger would not stay as we have always known it. All this techy stuff comes and goes and fast as it comes and is considered antique before we even get through with it. Frustrating. Now that they got all of us adicted to blogging, it'll be gone. Wonder what will come later. I'll pulll up google+ and see what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I've misunderstood but I just read something on the google site itself that said this will affect only non-Blogger sites. I know that some wordpress.org blogs can code in the google connect feature into their blogs. It sounds to me like Blogger blogs will still have the connect feature.
ReplyDeletehttp://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/more-spring-cleaning-out-of-season.html
**Google Friend Connect—Friend Connect allows webmasters to add social features to their sites by embedding a few snippets of code. We're retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012. We encourage affected sites to create a Google+ page and place a Google+ badge on their site so they can bring their community of followers to Google+ and use new features like Circles and Hangouts to keep in touch.
We still need to buy a bigger tv for our living room so I'll keep all of this in mind when we do! I'll learn from you! It's nice here in FL! Enjoy your day, girlfriend! ♥
ReplyDeleteLooks good! The whole where-to-put the TV is fraught with angst, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI think Heather is right, only non-blogger sites are affected by the change. I do have a + site, and am not impressed by it, but wanted it up and running before the change came.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips Vee - I'm off to check the blog you referred to. Good luck with your changes - one thing always leads to another doesn't it ? Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm so confused. I guess I better go check things out as well. I'm still tweaking daily on my own blog, just trying to make it pretty. Not sure I like all this change! Nice what you've done with your TV though! And Yes, we are blistery here today. They say a high of 17 degrees. Good day to stay home and warm, but I must pick hubby up at the airport (45 mins. away), least he sleeps there and becomes another Tom Hanks! Don't think he would like that one bit!
ReplyDeleteOh Dear
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is I hope Google doesn't ruin this for a lo-tech simpleton like me!
Well, I wasn't quite awake yet, Vee. But that video did it for me.
Thanks, I needed that.
Will John have everything hooked up in time for Downton Abby on Sunday? I can't imagine missing it.
Are you a follower?
It's cold and blowing here today.
Brrr.....
Vee,
ReplyDeleteSomeone told me that as long as you were using blogger you would not lose the followers when the change over is made but I have not checked into this myself so I am not sure if it is true or not. Will find the source and double check with her and get back to you on that. All these changes are very frustrating.
I'm a bit confused about the blogger connect friend too. I use Google Reader to let me know which of the blogs I read have updated. I'm not sure how all the Google things connect. I'll just have to wait and see and then figure it out!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on getting the tv just how you want it.
Glad you got decided on where to put it.:)
ReplyDeleteDid you get to watch the new AMERICAN IDOL last night? It was so good and so entertaining....I laugh a lot while watching that show. :))
Now, this Google thing. I am so paranoid when it comes to clicking on ANYthing new so I just don't. Not about to try that new interface, either. I've had no trouble whatsoever....yet.
Tell me what you mean about putting your followers and favorites on another blog. Won't the same thing happen there on losing them??
I am wondering, can we put our blogs on Flash Drives and save them??
Question...
ReplyDeleteDo you have Pop Up Comment box? I like what you have. I thought I had it too. Pop Up.
But I've been told I do not. So I went to settings and clicked on Pop UP and Save.
BUT!!! I have wanted to have Pop Up, all along. Because it's what I prefer. So........
My Settings changed without my knowing it?
................................
I like where you stuck your TV. It fits perfect there especially since you have so little wall space. it seems every wall is covered with windows. It must be so bright in your home.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see what happens with the google situation. I am not happy about the idea of losing readership...especially on MGCC but on the other hand...these things always seem to work themselves out so I am not that worried.
New blog interface? I haven't noticed.
Looks like you've made progress with the TV situation, It's not easy.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't know what you are talking about with Google; I'll have to do some research. Hope Comment #3 is correct and it's not blogger.
I am confused about changes. Perhaps I should make a master list of the blogs I follow so I can FIND you all again!!
ReplyDeleteI have had many things happen during my blogging experience. Most of which I have no idea about. Things changed a few weeks ago and I finally figured it out. I am going to do nothing until it pops up and I have to make a decision. I don't want to loose all my favorites but I have them all somewhere else. I have Carbonite which backs up everything I am told.
ReplyDeleteQMM
About changes to blogger and google and all the things that I use but do not understand...I say BLAH. I hate learning new tech-y stuff when I have just begun to learn the old. I am also suspicious of anything that invades my privacy. BLAH again.
ReplyDeleteI do have an advantage though...two daughters at home (ages 18 and 10) who grew up with computers and think it's all a breeze and are mostly willing to help me in my (frequent) computer crises.
Can't wait to see your TV's new digs!
I don't know anything about Google+ will have to check all that out - hopefully Heather has it right.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know anyone was having trouble commenting either...hmmm. I must be out of it - though I don't mean to be. :)

Oh I do hope all the dust settles soon and the tv is perched in a perfect spot. I like to leave during projects like this and come back when it's all done. Oh and about google...they are really buggin, the latest angst I have is that they won't let me log in sometimes without a phone number so they can send me a verification number! Really?
ReplyDeleteI am confused, But I will do some research, thanks for alerting me to this Vee,
ReplyDeleteI don't get all this stuff about Google friends connect......and now google+...frustating!
ReplyDeleteGood job on the tv, now enjoy all your fav shows and forget about google stuff.
Thanks for entering the Shaklee giveaway. It isn't getting many comments and I don't know why, Shaklee is a good company.....send your friends over! :)
Oh, corn flakes. Isn't life difficult enough without even more roadblocks???
ReplyDeleteVee honey, it took Jeff some time to find the hardcover copy of Sunflower Houses, but SFH, Toad Cottages & Shooting Stars, and Hollyhock Days were all packed and shipped today.
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.
Sending love across the miles,
Sharon
I hope you get your tv situation worked out so you can watch it again soon.
ReplyDeleteI am totally confused about this blogger and blogger + stuff. I'm like Kimberly, and can barely make my way around what we have now. I don't need any confusion. Guess I'll wait and see what happens and perhaps put my favorite blogs on my favorites list 'just in case'!
Stay warm!
I was here earlier and couldn't comment because kitty decided to drape herself across my arms. I'll just say that Kimberly described me to a T...a lo-tech simpleton! I don't like change and am still learning my way around this strange new land. I'm hoping Heather at #3 is right and those of us on Blogger won't be affected.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment on my post today!
You asked how things are here? They are pretty good. Warren is working hard. Chelsea is going on drives every day...because she can. I am still making messes here and there with the candle stuff. Every time I start to clean something up I see a new and creative thing to do....at least that is my excuse. The boys, well, they are just as they have always been but planning big plans for having people over this weekend. Better get to the grocery store......hungry boys are on their way.
ReplyDeleteI like where you put the tv- it looks like a perfect spot.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little paranoid about Google too.
ReplyDeleteI was happy to read this comment, Vee, that Blogger blogs won't be affected. I cannot help but wonder if Google is having a war with Facebook and we are the pawns! Thanks for spreading the word. xo
ReplyDeleteI hope we can hang our flat-screen when we move. I am carefully watching this project of yours so I have a clue in which direction to go. I do prefer to keep our tv tucked way, but in the spirit of an organized living room, hanging it seems a good option.
ReplyDeleteThis whole Google thing is such a pain. Why can't they leave well enough alone?!
What new commenting program? I haven't noticed a thing different. And what is Google Connect? I don't know what there terms are! I have a reading list for all the blogs that I follow and I refer to that. And I hadn't planned on going to Google +. Oh dear, oh dear. I do NOT have time or the energy to figure all these changes out.
ReplyDeleteWell Vee,
ReplyDeleteJust giving you the heads up that I went and did it! You should never tell me about new options because I tend to love new things.
I am thinking the opportunity to respond to a comment right after the comment is a good thing.
So...I switched to that format and I am anxious to see if you won't be able to comment.
I removed word verification for you....and am hoping this won't deter your always welcome comments on my blog.
In my corner of the world, they are having a blizzard. I said 'they'...since I have made the great escape. Where I am, we had lunch on a sidewalk cafe in the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteYour TV looks good right there. Now...enjoy it!
I have a Goggle + site, Vee, but I don't like it as much as I like facebook. I try to keep up as much as possible in these new things as I like a challenge ..it is brain exercise..lol Of course I don't have much time right now as my duaghter's wedding is a few months away and now I sadly have to work on my Mother's estate.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like John is working on a super cabinet for your flat screen! I can't wait to see it!
PS: Don't you wonder where Judy is, celebrating her birthday? It sounds very romantic!
No snow here as yet, but that might change tomorrow night. Stay warm!
I agree with your sentiment about the changes. I just want everything to be the same since it takes so much time trying to figure out what is what constantly.

ReplyDeleteRe: All the shakin' goin' on, with Google and Blogger...
What plans are you saying, it might be wise to make??? Just about saving our blog links? Or more than that....???????

forced by weather and whim to
