Just after Thanksgiving, I heard a report on Black Friday Shopping. It seems that people were shopping and spending money and it was mostly on themselves. How fascinating! My problem exactly. I can always find things for me when Christmas shopping. Usually, I deny myself. This year I did not. I bought the new set of dishes! *Gasp*
It was the polka dots. And the vivid colors. And the sweetness. I could not pass by.
For $3.50 they were mine. I'm thanking Uncle and Auntie for the inspiration. (I hope that he loved his train set.)
I am dismantling ever so slowly. It's easier to cope with that way...this putting away of Christmas. As always, I remind myself that before year's end, it'll all be up again. And besides, I'll never pack all of Christmas away.
A happy Tuesday to you...
P.S. Well great. Back off from blogging for a few short hours and one can't even remember to postdate. Sigh. In that case, have a happy Monday evening and a great Tuesday! =)
Polka dots make me happy. I love the dishes.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to be a better blogger friend. You got my first post. Thanks for hanging in there with me!
I would have bought them too! They are gorgeous. Happy Tuesday Morning (it is 12.22am)to you!
ReplyDeleteLove those polka dot gems!!
ReplyDeleteBoy, you really splurged on yourself. Love the dishes though.
ReplyDeleteI have a bit of a weakness for dots, so I love these. The colour will uplift you all winter!
ReplyDeleteNow about that splurge - really, Vee, you are extravagant!
Cute dots, great colors--well worth your investment.
ReplyDeleteA very happy New Year to you and yours and I love those gorgeous dotty dishes!
ReplyDeleteI love these pretty dishes! That's one of my goals this year...to get some new dishes to go with my white Corelle! lol! ♥
ReplyDeleteOH those are ever so cute Vee. I love them. I am dismantling as well. It was so sad unplugging the lights as it brightens up January so much.
ReplyDeleteI love your new header photo too. It is so appropriate to your blog.
The picture of your home at the top is lovely. It looks like such a warm, cozy place...One wants to peek in the window just to see the happy, contented people. Then one would get arrested! Ok, moving on...I love the little polka dot dishes!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I love the polka dots and the colors. Reminds me of my colorful Fiestaware. : )
ReplyDeleteA splurge on oneself every now and again is good for you! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYOU, dear Vee,
ReplyDeleteAlways make me smile and laugh.
Polka dots and lively colors suit you.
Happy 2012! I'm off to slowly dismantle here too.
Lovingly,
S
I love those dishes too!
ReplyDeleteI seem to see a lot of things for myself as well when looking for others. :)
((Hugs))
Laura
Happy New Year dear Vee! I love the dishes... so cute and colorful!
ReplyDeleteWe have Christmas down and packed for our move. It was a rather sentimental event, but I am excited about the adventures that lie ahead.
Enjoy your week,
Jen
Vee, those dishes are so sweet. I love the polka dots. Taking a break here before bed. Good night. Hugs, Pam
ReplyDeleteI think 3.50 on yourself is just fine, especially such sweetness. BTW if the header is your house, I love it. My favorite style of house and it looks like coziness is contained therein to a good degree! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI love these adorable doll dishes, Vee! They are perfect decorations for your window sill and such a pretty touch of whimsy.
ReplyDeleteGo over and visit Sharon as she has a happy surprise for you if you haven't seen it already :)
Hi Vee
ReplyDeleteLooks like they were right of of a bakery or candy store - soo fun!
I found a ton of things while shopping for myself too - good thing was that I still had b-day money to spend:)
Happy New Year!
Leann
You made an awesome buy!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday evening to YOU, too!
Oh I would have sooooo bought them. I love polka dots....they are darling and the price is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteVee
ReplyDeleteI love your new banner of your home
I like the way you incorporated your new dishes into your swag. I loved mine so much it's still hanging. Someday I'll switch out the items too.
Happy Monday night & Tuesday!
Cute, cute, cute!
ReplyDeleteI always put things a way a bit at a time...especially nice if you are finally getting cold weather as we are...helps the house feel warm and cozy...
Deanna
CUTE.NESS.
ReplyDelete:-)
They are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI buy for myself as dh never does. I know what I like.
I gave him a roof rake for Cmas and 4 lbs of Dunkin Donuts coffee. Useful things! :)
We are going to get our first blast of cold weather, but my oil bill is happy Dec was very mild!
I am putting away Christmas a bit at a time too. I thought we were going great guns today...but my husband wanted to go out for dinner to end the holiday celebrating, so the putting away came to a screeching halt, and now my house looks like a train wreck!
ReplyDeleteYour polka dot dishes are adorable, and I wouldn't feel a bit bad about spending $3.50 on those treasures.
Happy New Year, Vee!
woooo weeee....I am lovin' those dots. So glad you bought them. It does a body good to buy something, every now and then, that we really love. Good for the soul, too. :)
ReplyDeleteO, and meant to add that I leave my Father Christmas and a few others out all year long. After all, Christmas lives in our hearts all year, so....why not? Daughter left her Willow Tree Nativity set out all year long and it just made you feel good to see it in July.
ReplyDeleteThose dots are sure to cheer you up on the dullest day. What a tremendous splurge!
ReplyDeleteI wonder why all the names on your blog comments are garbled? They are not so in the pop up comment box, just underneath the blog. Weird. I'm sure it will sort itself out sooner rather than later. At least the comments are legible.
I can see how those polka dot dishes were irresistible, so adorable! They look so bright and cheerful showcased in your window. Love the new blog look too!
ReplyDeleteVee,
ReplyDeleteI love the dishes. I always find things I would like when shopping for others. However, I hate to give things I don't like or wouldn't want to own myself.
I have dismantled everything but my studio and since I haven't spent much time up there, I think I will let that stay for a while.
Happy New Year. Your house looks wonderful.
Carol
I love to have things around that make me smile when I see them. Your new set of dishes would do exactly that. I bought a couple of red polka dot baking dishes just before C heist as and they were for me! They made me smile when I walked in the store. I'm glad polka dots are showing up in fun ways.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention ~ your new background and header made me smile, too!!
ReplyDelete-clapping hands- Ohhhhhhhhhh... Polka Dotted Dishes!!! Precious!
ReplyDeleteSo you need yellow/white Polk Dot Background first. Then you can go to yellow/white Plaid. :-))))

And oh yes!!! Both "Pop" and Gabe LOVE the Train Set. In fact, Gabe talks about it all the time. "Goes round and round and round and round!"
ReplyDeleteDaddy brought him over, while borrowing a pan, on Sun. and he/Gabe just flops down on the floor, in front of the train. And waits for "Pop" to get it going. He did not even take the hood of his "hoodie" off. Just flopped, and waited. So cute.
TOYS ROCK! For all ages!!! "Auntie sezzzzzz..." :-)

Cuteness at that price is inescapable! So happy you got them!
ReplyDeleteI found some pretty Christmas dessert plates at 70% off so I picked them up. I'll show them one of these days before they get put away for next year.
Those polka dot dishes are so cute and cheery! Love them hanging in the window.
ReplyDeleteI love your great new header as well as the polka dot tea set! Your home looks beautiful in the snow!
ReplyDeleteHow fun...and I love them, so cheerful! Way to go girl!
ReplyDeleteI am so tickled that YOU won my book give-away. I think they suit you!

I did the same thing last night, Vee...I published when I meant to postdate. So I put it back in draft...and then re-scheduled my post for today.
ReplyDeleteLove your polka dot tea set! A nice splash of colour to brighten the winter days.
That cute little tea set would be hard to pass up especially at that price. So cheerful and fun. I bought a little set of garden stakes a few years ago from a fellow blogger's etsy shop and they have the same teapot and cup and saucer on top.
ReplyDeleteYour new blog header is lovely. Your home looks so cozy... the perfect spot to be on a snowy day.
They're so cute Vee!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! xo
Snap - I take a week to put up decorations and a week to take them down, the last one being the tree itself. Love the polka dots.
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum
xx
PS I just blog hopped here.
Vee,
ReplyDeleteYour home looks beautiful in your header!
The dishes have great lines, not to mention polka dots! Cozy for winter and terrific in summer. Dishes for all seasons.
Have not started to dismantle Christmas yet. Next weekend, I hear, is when we do it.
Love your little dishes. Good price! :D
ReplyDeleteI love the polk-a-dot dishes !
ReplyDeleteYour dishes are beautiful Vee! I just finished taking my decorations down and now the house looks bare. I think next year, God willing, I will do it a little bit at a time like you. That's a good idea.
ReplyDeleteThose are happy dishes! I don't know what there is about polka dots, but I love anything with polka dots, they look happy.
ReplyDeletePolka dotted dishes - oh yeah, I would have been grabbing for them too!
ReplyDeleteI got all the decorations put away this past Sunday. About killed myself hauling boxes up to the storage room. DH got to watch...
Oh, boy...here I am, back to the polka dots. I am caught up with your postings...just wish I was caught up cleaning house, doing laundry, having casseroles and soup ready to freeze, take the wallpaper boarder off in the guest room, get it painted, get something for the floors in there, sew the bells back on the Christmas stockings, rake the front yard to get all the pecans in one pile.........the list goes on and on and..........
