Cold winter days can be such cozy affairs. Every day when John comes home, I tell him the same thing: I didn't do anything today.
Obviously, that must change so this post will be short. The dog should be bathed except that it's much too cold for that so I'll put it off for the weekend. Still, there are rooms to dust and vacuum. Some tweaking of this or that.
The sewing room was cleaned last week so it beckons. When it is a mess, I hate working in it. There is a quilt-as-you-go table runner nearly finished and hanging from the end of the ironing board. There are bags of projects that I'm going to sort through eventually, deciding which I really want to do and which I don't care so much about and can let go.
The Christmas decorations were finally sorted last week and put away, all except for the Christmas angel spelling out December still sitting on the bathroom windowsill. She was overlooked, though now I swear that "December" flashes like a neon sign.
I look at the chippy paint around here and stress a little that I've not opened a paint can. Have you seen *Penny's beautiful blue?* It makes me want to repaint the bathroom that was just done...well, not just. It only seems that way. I've even written down the color in case.
Guess that's it. Your turn. What projects are you working on or what projects do you think you should be working on?

I have too many to count. Seems most of my Home has be set aside while I've been having fun in my new room. I should probably tend to that at least for a bit today. And I have Christmas piled on a bed to haul up to totes in the attic. Fun? Not really!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Oh I have too many to count for sure....Right at the top of my list is my closet is just screaming for a thorough going through...such a mess. And then I should get started on the new rag quilt for the new baby, and I need to see about the kitchen cabinets getting painted and on and on the list goes...What will I do today? Get my hair done...always important too. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteMy project bags overfloweth! haha! I have Valentines on my cutting board today and a new post up that mentions YOU! Enjoy your day my friend! Stay warm! Is it time for you to come visit me?
ReplyDeleteI mean that for real....as in, why don't you come to Florida until Spring! heehee!
DeleteI have some cloth napkins I am going to make, so I need to cut those out and hem them.
ReplyDeleteI need to finish the mess I call my bedroom....argh.
I love how beautiful that bedroom is! Lovely color.
Oh, and I am knitting a baby blanket.
Now I must hurry to take Rachel to her cello lesson.

Hi Vee,
ReplyDeleteYes, the bitter cold makes me want to hibernate and I feel very lazy. Now I understand how bears can hibernate all winter. Penny's bedroom is gorgeous, and of course that white French chair with powder blue is sensational together.
I have a stack of designing projects to do, but I have brushed them aside so that I can work on RJ's nursery here in our house. We decided to have a grandson room. I'll share the photos when I am done. I have been designing some fabric and decals for it too.
A fire, a cup of tea, watching snow fall, some of my favorite things.

I haven't been out since Monday, no need/no desire, I think I may venture out today, just to at least get my mail. I need to reorganize my little 3rd bedroom I use for storage, I need to tear apart my bedroom, especially the closet. I have balls of crochet yarn to work with, and a bag of brand new paperbacks to read. So far, I am on the computer. ;-) xo
ReplyDeleteMy life seems on hold right now, of course, but I am managing to get a few things done in the mornings, No big projects though. I am learning to take what comes and not want my plans but His. So I enjoyed reading this post and resonated with it all. Even to the left over ornament, and the paint color, well, sort of, lust. And it's cold here too, finally. I'm loving it and we may even get a wintry mix tomorrow, which for our section of the map sounds like just an ice storm. I shouldn't say "just" as they can be dangerous, and cause trees to fall, etc.
ReplyDeleteI've missed visiting you! My project for the morning (although I shouldn't be) is catching up with blogs! It seems the world kept moving, even when I wasn't! =) After I get through with this bit of indulgence I'm putting the final touches on the house as we get ready for a weekend of company and birthday celebrations. So much to do!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, I so love that illustration you used, today!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteProjects? Moi? You know I don't burden myself with pondering possible projects. -grin-
But, getting REAL, yes I am still, still, still toying with really trying water coloring. Again, I am STILL, still, still toying with really trying water coloring. See how depressing and defeating it is? For me to have a project? 'Cause I don't doooooooooooooooooo them.
Oh, my latest excuse?!? I really need a room to lay water colors out (a la you-know-who) and be able to get up and leave them, set up. Can't do that, when I use the kitchen island as a work spot!
Mmmmm, upstairs we have 2 unused bedrooms. One is already supposed to be an office. It's not like I don't have the PLACE to do this. But... I would have to DO IT!
Ay, there's the rub.
"Auntie"
My "to do" list for today includes walking from room to room and doing the little things that are visible to me. In addition, I want to go through those magazines that have accumulated over the holidays. Oh, and dispose of them! Would you believe that I'm already working on ideas and needs for Christmas 2013? I'm really wanting to make some of those vintage ornaments. I ordered vintage scrapbook paper yesterday. Which reminds me, I've got to complete my list of supplies to complete these projects.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I am off to a slow(er than usual) start this morning. Today's projects...wrapping and mailing a birthday package to my sweet granddaughter, making a loaf of sweet potato bread for a friend's birthday, school! Ongoing business...continuing my January reorganizing projects. Lots already done...lots left to do.
ReplyDeleteI am smiling at your flashing neon "December"! Have you ever put all the Christmas stuff away without missing something? (I have not.)
I've been spending the morning as a paper terminator. Killed a bunch of it dead, dead, dead. The house is feeling lighter now.
ReplyDeleteWell, I need to get back to the old photo sorting and I have another closet that needs cleaning. Many other things to do, but I call them chores not projects. I also have a mile high stack of old magazines I've been meaning to go through and cut out recipes, etc. I want to save. On today's agenda is going back to the vet to pick up a kitty that had a little surgery yesterday. She'll have to be watched for a few days and kept from being too rambunctious. Must get ready to go soon. See ya!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, my master bed room is the same shade of pink as the before picture. I don't like it... just can't find a color I do like. The grey blue is too cold for me. Usually I go with either a green or a candle glow beige. Just can't decide and I have been looking at paint samples on the wall off and on for three years.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing a lot of nothing lately too. Everyone who isn't required to be busy seems to be on kick back mode.
Oh, I have too many projects to mention. It seems like I have no motivation
ReplyDeleteto get any of them done. Soon it will be spring and I will wish I had gotten the things done inside because I will want to be outside.
Vee, I'm putting all things aside this morning to sit with a friend's husband and daughter while they wait for her surgery to be over. It's breast cancer. Her chances for survival are greater if she has a mastectomy so they're coming off. She's a brave one. The tidying up around here can wait.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to get motivated this time of year. I stayed in my PJ's all day yesterday. Hubby found me in the afternoon looking the same way I did when he left for work! So...I get a little guilty and try to do a few cleaning/organizing projects every day. Today I'm braving the cold...8 degrees here!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Hi Vee,
ReplyDeleteJust got back from grocery shopping - we are suppose to have freezing rain and snow tomorrow, and company coming Saturday night for dinner. Now I am off to finish painting the guest bedroom. It is the last room of the house that needs painting!! Thanks for mentioning my newly painted blue room.
Hugs,
Penny
I was just telling Dear last night that I haven't been able to get anything done the last 3 days. I've had to go here and there putting out fires while the home piles are getting higher and higher. :)
ReplyDeleteToday the sun is shining through and the fog is gone and it is so refreshing.
Blessings on whatever ends up inspiring you today!!
It rained here all night, and still raining this morning. Hubby left super early for some out-of-town work for the day. I've been watching The Inn of the Sixth Happiness with Ingrid Bergman.
ReplyDeleteMy days are filled with work; yearend bookkeeping, and my paid job of event planning and administration for a business group. My consignment space has been ignored for weeks, as well as all the junque accumulated in the garage that needs sorting. They're both calling me.
Probably more than you wanted to know (**. but that's my life these days xo
I am working on my sewing / craft room. It's a bit of a disaster, major clean-out needed. I want to sew again but can't when everything is cluttered. ~ Abby
ReplyDeleteNot a lot going on around here this week,Vee, nursing a cold virus! Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteSue
Lovely post. The days are short here, we have lots of snow and it is very cold. So keeping warm and making sure we have enough supplies is top priority. I have taken lots of photos and got some writing done. It is nice being snowed in and not being able to go anywhere....for a while....
ReplyDeleteVee
ReplyDeleteThat's my line-I didn't do anything!
I need to paint behind the frig and make a baby blanket,
but not today!
It was -25C here this morning, but sunny.
I need to be working on some everyday cleaning. I just can't seem to get in the mood.
ReplyDeleteI have so many projects that should be started and finished including painting. I bought woodwork and trim paint last November and it hasn't been opened. We have about 6 doors that need painting (still in primer stage as bought) and window trim too. I don't like painting. I think I'll go sweep the floor and run the Swiffer through. right after I check a few more blogs. There's my problem right there!
ReplyDeletesounds to me like you have a full plate, so do I as always, lots to do, so little time, lol, so much to do!!
ReplyDeleteOne project that I really want to get finished is a huge counted cross stitch that I've been working on and off for more than two years!! I also really want to learn how to knit socks.
ReplyDeleteI can't say I'm crossing many projects off any lists over here...but mostly just taking life one day at a time! Had my two youngest granddaughters here a good part of the day...and am going to a cooking class tonight. It's all good. Be encouraged...you are in good company. No one seems to accomplish a whole lot in January.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be in that rut too of getting nothing done and oh there is so much to do!! Sigh. I think I need to retire - do you think that would help? Probably not because I'd just put EVERYTHING off till some time later .....
ReplyDeleteSo it goes..... Enjoy your doing nothing days Vee - they're precious.
I did almost nothing yesterday and it was quite lovely. I started my annual reading of "The Long Winter" by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
ReplyDeleteI have so many projects and things I want to do. Next on my list is to re-organize my spice cabinet. I found I had 3 tins of tumeric - unopened tins! Who needs that much tumeric?
Winter is always a good time to do nothing.
ReplyDeleteMerle.....
My main focus right now is taking college classes so I don't get a pay cut (I'm a teacher) and it seems overwhelming since I have four graduate level classes to complete my May! I'm keeping the house clean and mostly tidy, but not much beyond that. I am trying to get in to some time to crochet or use my knitting looms but that isn't happening either. Top it off with a husband who travels for his job so I get to be single mom most of the week and I'm exhausted. Would love to have a week of "doing nothing." Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteI've actually started painting a couple of furniture pieces. I have a lot more to do, but it's a start! I love Penny's blue that she used in her bedroom!
ReplyDeleteI have been unpacking and doing laundry and ironing and organizing. The days seem to pass too quickly lately! The baby will be coming sooner than we thought, so I feel the need to get everything done so i will be able to help my daughter.
ReplyDeleteSame old here except my card crafting area needs reorganizing. It's in the basement and darn cold down there so hubby finally bought me a heater.
ReplyDeleteJudith
I didn't do anything yesterday, either!. Oh, did too! My friend and I went the thrift store (wading throw sloppy wet snow), and then we we met a Realtor to view a house that friend is thinking of buying. We both fell in love with it. Other than that, I read all day. LOL Projects - too many need to be done, but until the foundation is fixed there really isn't much point of doing anything to my house. Today, I WILL wash the dishes. GASP! A load of washing is just now ready for the dryer. Onions are chopped for the spaghetti sauce which will be simmering in the slow cooker all day. Stay in where it is warm. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry for the typos and misspellings! I "swear" I didn't type that way. LOL
DeleteI'm making a complete mess in my sewing room. Made more mistakes today. Can't even measure and cut! That's bad, when I can cut out simple measurements and it takes three tries. After about an hour of ripping and tossing, I gave up. Perhaps I'll try again tomorrow. Pbbbttt.
ReplyDeleteI'm banishing all thoughts of projects from my mind just now. But I know that once we return home, there will be lots of them - including painting the front hallway and lots of trim to sand, fill and paint.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you've had a puttery kind of January, relaxed and cozy.
