A Haven for Vee

World Ending?

I've felt as if the world was ending before. A handful of times.
Divorce and death made me feel as if the world was ending and, of course, it was true — the world as I knew it was ending. Sometimes watching the news will give me that sense. Just this week, listening to our president tell Israel that she must return to 1967 borders made me a titch touchy, a pat prickly, uneasy (Genesis 12: 2–3). Today, the world may end. Not too likely, but it may. I'm certainly not counting on it today, but I am counting on it someday. The best article I've read on the topic is by Jim Daly at Focus on the Family. (For some very odd reason, I am unable to link to that article.) Could Saturday be the day? Jim's Response: A stopped clock is right twice a day.

What amazes me is that people who make such grand pronouncements have not read the Word of God, which clearly states to "knock it off" in this regard. And does the media ever talk to a person of the cloth with some understanding of scripture? That would be a no. Such a circus...

So, if we stay, great, if we go, great. In the meantime, I'm making spaghetti and meatballs for supper about six.

Oh, the peonies are a gift from a special gal whose sister went home to Glory last week after ninety wonderful years on this earth. They are beautiful and help to chase gray skies away and they smell a bit like heaven, too.

Have a fantastic day...

Edited to Add: When John was downtown buying some bread and milk, he ran into the owner of the local pizzeria who said that one could hear a pin drop in the restaurant at 6 p.m. Why do I find that comforting somehow?

  4. -chuckle- Yup, another End Of The World Day. Makes you twitch, thinking ahead to the month of Dec. 2012, doesn't it? Can you IMAGINE the wild mayhem which will bombard us every day, to prepare for the Mayan End Of The World on Dec. 21, 2012?!? Eeeek!

As to Bozzo The Clown and his speech this week... He makes me think of the end of the world, every time he opens his mouth.

    Enjoy your spaghetti!!!

  5. It's not supposed to happen until about 9pm tonight anyway ...so enjoy your spaghetti and meatballs.

No one can know what the Father has declared is His knowledge alone.
So many things are up for debate when it comes to theology and doctrine....and understandably so in some cases...but not this.

  6. I've heard some TV Bible teachers respond to it but the BEST response was from one of our news anchors last night.

She just looked up at the end of the broadcast (which was when they talked about it) and said it was silly, that the Bible says no one knows the day or the hour... loved it coming from a "secular" source. :)

Sigh... I remember that "88 Reasons Why Jesus is Coming in 88" book and how it also garnered national attention.

  7. Well said Vee! Well said.
Sheesh. I was so impressed with Netanyahu's response to O.
I'm pretty sure you will be enjoying those meatballs tonight :0)
    Blessings...

  8. Bozo makes me look FORWARD to the end LOL. How funny to want to stay here knowing what little I know about heaven.
Don't you know God is looking down shaking His head at all the silliness.

  9. True from beginning to end...so many life changing things have caused me to think the world had ended, and it never was the same.
I just got off the phone with my 25 year old and he said, "well I can't bring the camera tomorrow we all won't be here!"...tongue in cheek. My reply, well I will be at church (that is our normal time to go to weekend services) when He comes and meet Him in the sky...if not, bring the camera tomorrow.

If Christ comes today I will rejoice, if not I will continue to read His word and be ready.

I will never forget when I was a teen and a pastor predicted 1980!

Have a great day!! The flowers are beautiful.

  10. Since the sun rose and will set on new Zeakand and Australia first today, and they are still here, I think we'll make it, Vee! :)

    Pink Peonies are so pretty!

  11. This fella that started all this talk of May 21 being the end of the world predicted the same back in 1994, I think it was. You'd think in all those years of supposed bible reading, that he would have seen the part where Jesus says that no one knows but the Father. How he (and others like him) thinks he's smarter than Jesus is anyone's guess.

We had a rainy, gloomy day yesterday so I spent lots of time on the computer...when I should have been working. I clicked on your link you gave in your last post and got caught up reading back posts! I never did get to the post where you must have told about you carrying on with your carpenter. :D Maybe I'll get back to trying to find it sometime.

    Enjoy your spaghetti and meatballs!

  12. Forgot something. I just wanted to say that I sometimes think Obummer is trying to hasten the end of the world with his inept leadership in foreign affairs (and everything else, too) and especially his treatment of Israel.

  13. Oh...... I just read what Cheryl wrote about Obummer trying to hasten the end of the world with his inept leadership...etc.... I say, 'AMEN' to that!!!

I can remember when I was a little girl, and the prediction of the end of time on a certain day. I was worried, and my grandmother quoted some scriptures from the Bible....and I felt okay after that.
These nuts need to read their Bible.

    Love your beautiful flowers1

  14. A friend pointed out Joel 3:2

2I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land

The "parted my land" is the significant part. Mr. O is such a fool to think messing with Israel.

  15. Vee, I always enjoy your posts, often nodding or chuckling in agreement. Sometimes, I'm equally entertained by the commenters. Today was exceptional. To keep up with my faraway daughters and other family, I am on Facebook. They have a "like" button for favorite comments which I furiously looked for while reading responses to today's post. Thank you, friends of Vee, for giving me a chance to chuckle and to think.

  19. I appreciate this post Vee. I haven't been able to make fun of the ones that were so sure yesterday would be the last. I felt so bad for them that they would so blindly follow and not read the Bible themselves.

I also twitched at the suggetion of the borders being back to the way they were . .oh my ...it was a bit shocking.

  20. Very well said, Vee!

Thank you for your sweet comment and Birthday wishes for us and our blog and e-zine. We love what we are doing and playing and working with your best friend, with a mission to inspire women is just so darn awesome!

Vee, you were the very first person that I asked to share links with and I was so excited when you said yes! :) Thank you! I do remember you asking questions and it was me that explained what Mermaids of the Lake was all about!

  21. Well said, Vee! We went on with our day as usual...and forgot all about the impending rapture...and realized when we went to bed that we had been 'left behind'. My prayer is that I am ready every day...and I cannot know which day that will be.

  22. I was away from the blogsphere on a trip to the UK while Blogger had is problems and it seems not to have touched my blog. However catching up on the many posts I missed while I was away it seems many of you were. I think it made a few realise how dependent they have become. You have been busy!
We are all still here even if we blog less and the world as we know it did not end :)

  23. It is Sunday morning and we are still HERE! Vee, I loved reading your post. As the Bible states: He will come as a thief in the night. I don't know of any thief who will announce: "Hey, I am on my way over to rob you of your treasures! BOL!"

The news of this past week has me on the edge of my seat. I am with you one hundred and ten percent.

    Love you, Vee!
