Linds isn't spending much time in her rocking chair while she is on vacation in Switzerland. Thankfully, she's still reflecting and has shared at least one of her sister's tips for maintaining a healthy garden. Know how petunias seem to dissolve in the rain?
Oh yes! Now they are a mess after a night of rain. This is Linds' sister *Marge's tip* in a very poorly rendered Paint Shopped photo. I don't have much energy yet for details.
I can see how cute that would be and how it might prevent a complete meltdown. Now if I can learn how to get the umbrella up over my own life, I'll be doing famously.
Have a pleasant day...
Edited to Add (8/18/2010): Until today, I've had to imagine what the umbrella was like, but now I've seen it and I see that it looks cute and it works! *Check* and see for yourself!
First of all...I totally LOVE your new header missy!! Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI had a good chuckle this morning, when I saw the umbrella over the flowers. Too funny!!
I do hope you are recovering nicely. Oh, the things we can do with pictures these days. My kid's have a friend who is nearly as creative as you.....
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Becky K.
Wow! You are lookin' pretty ding-dang-wide here now! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHad done an entry, concerning "Wide Blogs." Came here. Realized you have changed. Went back and added your blog link, to the few which I see, which are "Wide"! Hooray!
"Wide" to me--> Blogs where you have to make sure you see the "Frame" on the right side of the blog Header pic. :-)
I too, hope you are recovering. But knowing herpes, I know it doesn't just go away easily/quickly/sweetly. -sigh-
ReplyDeleteYes, umbrellas. Lovely idea. :-) Wishing you a huuuuuumongeous umbrella!!!
And no T-storms! They are headed east but... Who knows where they may end up going?
Wow! Your blog is completely transformed! Where was your header picture taken?
ReplyDeleteHope you are rallying quickly from your illness.
Oh, and yes, I know Leann's Sears kit house, also Carol at Old Glory Cottage and there is another blogger with a glorious place, but she mostly has been writing about their vacation home.....
ReplyDeletethanks, Vee!
WOW! Your computer screen is 12 by 19 1/2??? WOW!
ReplyDeleteThat's the size of the part of the monitor, where you view stuff? Blogs and everything else?
You win the Size thing. :-) Like I said the part of my computer where I see everything, is only 17 & 1/8th inches by 10 & 5/8th inches!
Yours is 19 1/2 by 12! Super doooper!!!
So you have noooooooooooo trouble seeing everything, on blogs which publish in a Wide Form!!! Great!
And yes, you told me about all that stuff about using New Editor. But honestly, it went right over mahhh head! -grin- And I'm still doing stuff, the old-fashioned way I guess.
And I have no idea how to make my Header pic to be [as you said] "a header that's 900 whatevers wide". In fact I can't size anyyyyyyy pics, and I'm sick about it. And I've about given up. I just keep taking pics, until however I crop them, they work.<--Very *scientific* I know!!!! Not!
And I still don't know what you mean when you say; I don't bother going into the template anymore once I discovered that the quality of the photo suffered." ?????????
Nahhh, don't even try to make me understand! I'm pretty hopeless with new techy stuff. ,-)
Yes!!!! Go find a 14 oz. soup can and take a pic of it, by your HUGE screen. I want to see this MONSTER! So I can drooooooool over it. :-)
Gentle hugs...
Sometimes we have to have a pretty BIG umbrella, too, don't we!
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better SOON!
Well, I'm sending you a rainbow for after the rain!!!
ReplyDeleteLeann
Hi....found you over at Sweet Aunt Amelias.....I'm likin' what I'm seein' here. So there!! (O:(O:(O:
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day,
Jo
that was brilliant! maybe you could
ReplyDeletecoin the phrase, "guess she didn't
have her petunia umbrella for that one!"
The umbrella is there Vee, it is sheltering you at this very moment. If you look up you will see that it is most unusually shaped, like a cupped palm. It is a most magical umbrella, it is a shelter and a shade in the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and the rain. (Isaiah 4:6 NIV) Praying you will find comfort, renewal, and strength sheltered beneath His palm sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and inventive idea! And that umbrella {one of my favorite words..sounds like a gardem faity to me} for your life is there..just may not be fully opened yet...
ReplyDeleteThat particular umbrella would look cute anywhere! I have a few too many petunias to start with umbrellas though.
ReplyDeleteHope you are on the mend!
Gorgeous new heading! Let His love cover you with warmth and protection.
ReplyDeleteHi Vee,
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny, I love the little umbrella over the petunias.
You are so right, I have also enjoyed seeing everyone vacation photos.. we have not been able to take a vacation this year since our move..so its been really fun visiting through our blogging buddies trips.
I also love your photo of REST! I hope you are getting some.. feel better soon.
Big hugs, Elizabeth
Love your beautiful new blog header Vee! I'm in a foggy and chilly San Francisco and loving every minute! Going to a museum in a little while and then I'll walk through Chinatown.
ReplyDeleteLOL at the umbrella over the petunias!
ReplyDeleteI love your header. I can just picture myself looking out at that scene from the porch of my cabin, where I'm relaxing in a comfy chair with my tall glass of iced tea by my side, a book in my hand....ah well, a girl can dream, can't she?
Have a great day,
Cheryl
Vee, we've noticed less on grocery shelves, too.
ReplyDeleteI was watching a Bible teacher this past week who said he felt the Lord was nudging his family to start a garden so they did for the first time this summer.
He said he'd heard the government was buying up so much of the long term storage food that there was a shortage of those in cans.
He could verify a shortage but not who was buying it but he said one way or another, that didn't sound good... as in "what do they know that we don't".
Lovely new header Vee. So cute, I love the umbrella over your hanging plant.
ReplyDeleteI just designed something called There's No Place Like Blogland. I want to send you the file. I know I could find your e-mail, but I have to run around today. Would you just pop me a note so I can send this to you.
Have a lovely day Vee. You always make me smile.
Karen
Our japanese maples used to have beach umbrellas over them during the few weeks a year that sunshine would fall directly on them mid day.
ReplyDeleteWow! I really like the new look of your blog. Very nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteLoved the idea of an umbrella over the flowers LOL I think that would always get a second look :>) I hope you are having a nice day....
