Pizza Picnic and Hole Digging

Like many of you north of the Mason-Dixon line, we enjoyed an unusual stretch of warm weather over the weekend. It was so unusually pleasant that we celebrated a birthday Pizza Picnic Style.

The fam is not so fond of my picture taking after all these years. The grands are hopping all over the place and so they're not so easy to catch either. It is what it is and I leave it at that. Perhaps by Thanksgiving...

Hole digging. Now that's a lot of fun. The driveway needed to be cut open and the blocks are waiting to be put back for the winter. Next year perhaps a new driveway...I hope!

My Digging Accomplishments Before Quitting

John's As of Twenty Minutes Ago

I'm not going back to digging today for I have learned a valuable lesson: I am just in his way.

Gosh, my topics are truly uninspired. I really want to share something way more exciting to me, but I must wait until another October birthday has passed.

Enjoy your day...

I just love your pics. Love the green chairs. We have chairs like those, my husband made them. Their painted red/white and blue. (I love Americana.) Blessings

  2. Linda~

Don't worry, I have learned after blogging four years that my posts are not carefully and thoroughly read. You missed paragraph one. ;D

  3. I've been sitting here wishing I had taken my camera along yesterday...or the day before that...........no photos to share. Nothing to share really. I was up at 3 am but who cares about that. Got a lot of paperwork done...but who really wants to know? So...I am very thankful for your chatty post with pictures and family and John with dirt. It is all very interesting to me. Thanks for taking the time.....to pick up the camera.
    Wish I had. Truly.

  4. Your life is about as exciting as mine! Ha. BUT that is ok. It could be worse.

  5. Sometimes those plain and normal days are welcome when life throws a lot on our plates at once. =) Personally I would love an uninspiring day. LOL

  6. I agree with your Dear Reader, who welcomes uneventful days!

Yes, I'd like to *accomplish* something, even if tiny. And I get peeved-at-myself, when I don't. (Like 2 days in a row here...)

But, still.............. Exciting can often mean troublesome and worry-making. I'll take uneventful, please and thank you. :-)

  7. Oh and...... At least your fam allows you to post SOME pics, from family gatherings. SOME is way better, than nearly none. -grin-

  8. LOL! I learned that lesson a long time ago, Vee! To stay out of hubby's way, that is. He says I just slow him down. Ha! Are we being deliberately slow? I'll never tell! :D

I enjoyed your mosaic. Looks like a fun afternoon. Have a great day!

  10. Money. She's the return queen and I can't think of a thing. I did give her a pot of mums and two wee pumpkins. (I had already given her the pillow.)

  11. I know ya'll are enjoying your warm weather right now! Looks like a fun party and I was just noticing that little curly head there. Wow, those boys are growing so fast... Well, happy birthday to your daughter!

I always enjoy photos of your home and neighborhood. It looks so cozy and neighborly and Americana.

On digging or helping out the hubby --- sometimes I feel like helping and sometimes he makes me move out of the way, too. Now, I CAN load and catch gophers. That's my official job at the farm right now. We ought to have plenty to catch since we're getting rain today...

  13. Everyday happenings can be quite the event...different for all of us and that is what makes it interesting. It looks like you have quite a project going on with the digging and dust-flying! A stone-paved driveway perhaps? Were you really in the ditch digging alongside your hubby? Wow! You are amazing! - and to be commended! .I know I wouldn't last long at such an endeavor before I gave out. Sometimes encouragement is the best way we can help our guys out. Glad to see the birthday pics too! Blessings! ~Gwen~

  14. No, I was not in the ditch with John. I was in the ditch alone. I gave out after an afternoon of digging. He can dig circles around me and so he gets the rest of the job. Yay! I like to think that the little bit I did is a mound of dirt that he didn't have to do. Either way, he makes it look like zip.

  15. I love how you caught the sunshine in the photos - the true eye of an artist..whether you admit it or not :-)

Have a fun day not "getting in his way" LOL

  16. My favorite pic from this post is the little pumpkin nestled in a large leaf! You DO have a way with the camera!

  17. The pizza picnic looks like a lot of fun to me. The digging ... not so much.
I like all of your pictures and am intrigued by the door at the top of the steps. I'm curious to know what is up there... or maybe I'm just nosey. LOL.

  18. We've got a new driveway on our wish list. I like to go away while these kind of projects are going on and then come home when they are done LOL! Pizza picnic looks fun.

  19. Sounds like a fun party. I love the bright green tete-a-tete! It sure was a gorgeous weekend and week too! It's best to stay out of the hole I think. :) Blessings, Pamela

  21. Hi Vee

Been there done that - it seems I "get in the way" quite a bit:) Oh well they do it much better anyway don't they.

Love that you can all get together to celebrate the birthdays!

  23. Good for you, Vee! I just leave that stuff to Tim - he can work circles around me in that kind of thing! What will John do when he gets all the projects done? He'll be bored - maybe he will have to take up blogging! :)

Glad you had some family time - Happy birthday to "woods!"

  24. You get an 'A' for effort, Vee. I wouldn't have even attempted to help!
So nice the family could celebrate outside today. I don't like having my picture taken either, so I can sympathize with everyone.
It was rather boring here today too
So I went with the bears today for my post!

  25. John never sits, does he? How is he feeling after all of that work?

  26. Glad to hear that you were able to celebrate the birthday outside. Now, i don't ask people to pose - I just point and shoot - sometimes it makes for interesting results. In one of the pictures i took on Thanksgiving 4 family members had perplexed looks on their faces. I don't know what they were worried about...
