Something to Crow About

You know, if we hang around long enough, we're going to see things not seen in over a hundred-fifty years like early snowstorms in October after a late autumn. I've seen snow on green leaves in the spring before, but never like this in fall.

Hard to believe that we'll be welcoming a new month tomorrow. Just a reminder about the Giving Thanks Challenge starting tomorrow at South Breeze Farm. Clicking on the button in my sidebar will take you there. Leah is putting up Mr. Linky sometime this evening around 10 p.m. (I don't know if I can stay up that late.) Hope to see you there!

Saturday was bitter cold and every breeze whispered snow. It made me feel like stopping by the local gift shop, which I did. Oh it was wonderfully decked out for Thanksgiving and Christmas. A crockpot near the door was filled with delicious smelling hot apple cider and the aroma of cinnamon floated about the entire store. Hmmmm...

I found these things:

Edited to Add Photo showing Mr. Crow, now named Edgar Allan Crow at Auntie's suggestion, where he should be...

Yes, a crow to sit on top of one of the fenceposts instead of where he is now and some Deco Lights from Darice with silicone tips. They have a very soft and warm look, which you've already seen if you saw yesterday's post.

So that's my simple Monday post. Hope to catch you soon!

  2. Having a snowstorm definitely puts one in the holiday mood! I love that squirrel. I've never seen one that color. Before moving here, the town we lived in had solid black squirrels.

Was the picture at the top of yesterday's post taken from your window?

Wishing you a lovely day and a week filled with beauty!

  3. I have been thinking of you and that snow - it is all over the news here. Maybe it is heading this way too, who knows.
I love the crow. I may have to make one for my fence too. You stay warm and snug and cosy, my friend!

  5. Hi Vee,

Such a lovely post. What a storm. We got hit pretty hard, most schools are closed today. I wonder if we will get any trick or treaters. Lots of people are without power, we were one of the lucky neighborhoods.

    Have a wonderful day.

  9. I heard snow was coming your way..wow!! Now we have had snow in April before...on Easter weekend. That is so strange since we rarely ever have snow.

Weather has been interesting this year...we are just now getting some cooler weather.

Blessings as we go into November.

The snow is beautiful against the fall leaves. And that is something to 'crow' about!
I'm glad you didn't have such a storm that would cause you to lose your power. Have a wonderful Monday

  12. Hi Vee, I'm sure glad my squirrels aren't sitting in the snow yet! :D I know it's just a matter of time.
I can't believe this month is almost over, either. But, I'm almost ready to get this orange down, which is not my favorite color, and up with the Christmas things.
    Have a great week!

  13. Great combo photo... snow and green/turned leaves, plus squirrel. :-)

I already fell in love with the look of your new Faerie Lights, yesterday.

Yes, 'tis cold, in my neck of the woods too. But I just keep reminding myself of how Ughhhhhy it is for the "Occupiers." Heh, heh, heh...

  19. That snow really is something to crow about. I have been watching the news coverage in amazement.
The atmosphere inside that gift shop sounds perfect for a cold, snowy day. Glad you found some cute things too. Those little lights are precious and look really pretty where you have placed them. So warm and cozy.
Your photo of the squirrel with that beautiful leaf and snowy background is lovely.

Vee, I just LOVE your lights...and they do look just right up on your cupboard...along with the window frame and the platters and the turkey and the tea cups! What a lovely vignette!

    Hope you're staying warm today.

  30. Love how you described the snow coming and how your new lights glow. I bought some a few months ago and haven't done anything with them yet - you inspire me yet again. Our snow brought the cold temps and of course our furnace decide to conk out. It's back up and running tonight though.

    Stay warm my friend!

  31. Snow in October!!! I don't think it's ever happened here in Arkansas! Our high was 71 degrees today--expecting 74 tomorrow. I NEVER pack the summer clothes away! I do recall a couple of times we received a 12" snow in late March and light snow in April, but never in Fall.
Love the little fairy lights--do they twinkle?

  33. That snowstorm was sure unusual. I was wondering how you were faring. Your home looks so cozy with your glowing hearth. I am wondering what John did preach - or about the conversation you enjoyed together on Sunday morning! Having a snow day is not half bad and sometimes being home-bound brings blessings of the richest kind!
