Flea Market Finds

O brother! Am I ever late! It's my habit to do a post the day before or several days before and then, using post options, to have it post for the following day at 5:30 am. I don't know where I lost my habit, but I hope to find it again.

Just wanted to share two flea market finds this morning. One thing that I have noticed in this economy is that the flea markets are filled with browsing shoppers. We had birthday gift certificates to spend. I say "we" lightly. He had birthday gift certificates to spend, but he has a candy heart and so gladly shared. The swan, we collect them, has a little chip on the back wing and now I've learned from Penny and Manuela that that just doesn't count. Before that, I would've left it sit right where I found it, but it's so lovely and graceful and holds my birthday carnations from nearly three weeks ago beautifully.

This cheese cover, only $1, perfectly rests on this plate so I am using it as a small cloche. It's just large enough for the wee nest in a teacup. I really like it a lot.

Have a happy Monday and a great start to this new week!

  3. Cheese cover? I have one of those lovely domes...but had no idea what the real purpose was. I can always learn something over here.

  5. Vee,
Chips = character in my book and your swan is plenty graceful in character! Hey, I have one of those cheese service sets up in my cupboard, I may be a copy cat! Great finds and I hope you and your sweetheart have a wonderful day!

  6. Hi Vee

I can never keep up with posting ahead of time ..therefore I'm always behind..lol

That swan is darling! It's so romantic to collect them.
It's chip wouldn't be noticeable, I bet, unless you had a magnifying glass. Glad you are giving it a good home.

The little bird nest in the teacup is a cute idea too!

PS Katz's is so noisy you wouldn't believe it! A wonderful people watching place. The pastrami sandwich was so expensive I decided the hot dog would do, lol, but yes the egg cream was just like I remembered my local soda fountain use to make when I was a kid.

  13. I really love your idea of the nest in a teacup. I have an old nest that the birds made in my lilac bushes years ago. Imagine my thrill and sadness when I realized they had woven it entirely out of my German Shepherd, Sybil's fur. She had passed away that year. I treasure it. I may borrow your idea and put it in one of the beautiful tea cups that I inherited from my late mother-in-law. Thank you!
