Great is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

~Thomas Chisholm

For this is God, Our God forever and ever;
He will be our guide even to death.
~Psalm 48:14

  2. Vee,
    I have been learning a lot about God's faithfulness lately. What amazes me most is that even when I am unfaithful, He is the same, as your song choice says, there is no shadow of turning in Him, He does not change, He always has compassion, His mercies are new every morning!

    This is one of my favorite hymns. We sang this often in a ladies Bible study I was in a few years ago in the worship portion. I always get goose bumps when I think of all those women of every race, background, and faith belief system coming together in one common bond,for the love of the Lord, to learn more, and to grow in grace. Each individual voice melded into the most heavenly sound, that is the way heaven will be, singing praises for His faithfulness!

    I daily cling to the line, strength for day and bright hope for tomorrow. This is often my prayer. Thank you for the beautiful post.

  3. I love the old hymns....love them. I just can't get into the praise music at our church. It's OK but give me an old hymn any day. I have the memorized from my childhood.

    I was sinking deep in sin
    far from the peaceful shore.
    Very deeply stained within
    Sinking to rise no more.
    When the Master of the Sea
    heard my disparing cry.
    From the waters lifted me
    now SAVED am I.

    Love lifted me.
    Love lifted me.

    Everybody sing along....

  8. Being Greek Orthodox, I am largely unfamiliar with most hymns from other religions. Which is a pity since I seem to like every hymn I come across on the blogs I visit.

    Yours is no exception....how comforting is this line: Morning by morning new mercies I see.

    Thank you, Vee.

  12. Great blog. I love that song. He is so faithful and always there for us. I don't know where I'd be without the Lord. I am so glad you are better and not having to worry about that old tooth.

  13. I have missed the beautiful old hymns. It is sad in the churches I go to we sing only new songs. Which I really like, but our kids have missed out on these old anthems.

    Thanks for sharing this one today.

  15. So thankful for the Truth contained in so many of the beloved hymns, and this one is no exception. I love to sing them, but it is great to see the words in print and actually read them. Somehow that gives them freshness.

    Also LOVE the new photo collage in your header!! Marvelous images. Blessings to you, Vee...

    Love,
    Christi
