A Haven for Vee

Springing it Up
Spent the morning roaming around looking for spring things and Easter things. Time to put away the Friendly Village dishes that I used all winter in favor of pastels. A week or so ago, I was wondering about forcing forsythia. It was just as easy as anything. I cut off the ends of some branches and put them in water. In just a few days they began to green up and then the blooms came shortly after. Since my forsythia lives behind the garage, I don't have much benefit of it without doing this.
A few more images for you to enjoy this lovely Saturday...

I love that bunny with the hat! I also force forsythia, Vee, and it works well. I haven't started this year yet. Hmm. Maybe tomorrow! My house is also in spring mode. At least the inside is looking springlike. Mind you, the daffodils are nearly up now, and the tulips are growing well. It should be beautiful in the garden when they all bloom. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, you've got such cute pastel stuff to take out. It's yummy.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a forsythia bush, so I can't force some of that. I remember forced pussy willows, from wayyyyyyy back in childhood. But would I even recognize a pussy willow bush if I came across one? ,-)
Should look them up on the Net and find out what to look for! I'd really love to force some pussy willows! Thank you for setting a fire under my buns. :-)
Gentle hugs,

Too bad I don't have any forsythia. Makes me want to check out the neighborhood...wink. Who would notice?
ReplyDeleteNope, I'd better just enjoy your lovely photo!

I have never thought to force some forsythia for enjoyment indoors. I'll try that today. I love all your pretty Spring decorating touches. Hope you have an enjoyable day.
ReplyDeleteI love forsythia....I have some "faux" sprigs of it that I use in my hutch. :) We don't see much of it here where I am....I am in the process of Springing up my house too :)

Ah, Spring! I have got to go and see what things I have. I promised myself only to use what I already have. My favorite is the nest and eggs.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Vee! It looks like Spring has arrived at your house!
ReplyDeleteI see Spring is springing at your house in a very pretty way. How nice to know that forcing forsythias really does work. I don't have any, but may have to change that.
ReplyDeleteForcing forsythia, excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteI love how you move things about in your wonderful home to make way for each new celebration and season. What a thoughtful and giving thing to do...to grace your home with such beauty for not only those who live there but for those who come to share your welcome.
ReplyDeleteI love how you are embracing spring! Your forsythia is beautiful and I love your paper bird! Very sweet!

Thanks for reminding me!! Every year I intend to cut forsythia branches and always forget til they don't need forcing. With my luck, I'll force the branches that won't have flowers on them. It's a crap shoot whether my forsythias flower or not. I wish I knew why some years everyone is loaded with yellow blossoms and other years they are sparse.
ReplyDeleteSpring looks good in your haven Vee! Our new house has hardly any landscaping. I want to plant forsythia, lilacs, spring bulbs, roses, lavender, and.....well everything~!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
Happy Sunday Vee,
ReplyDeleteI love your boarder around your photo's!!!. I will have to learn how to do that.
I think the button is just for fun! no real benefit because you can still access a favorite blog from any bloggers side bar. A lot of blogger's seem to be getting a button. I just thought it was fun and my dear sweet Jaclynn made it for me as a gift.
Your blog looks so pretty!!!.
Enjoy your day, big hugs, Elizabeth
I always wish that forsythia lasted longer. It so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think we're all so ready for spring and you've created a breath of that for us just through your pictures. Thanks for sharing your inspiration with us.
ReplyDeleteLook at your cute little bunny! I love everything about Spring! Enjoy your evening! ♥
ReplyDeleteSpring is in the air at your house it seems.
ReplyDeleteI don't decorate but do look forward to the daffodils that are so behind this year that they are only 3 inches high so far.
